LP Tank
• The LPTank usedwith your grill must meet the following
requirements:
• Use LPTanksonly with these required measurements: 12"
(30.5cm) (diameter) x 18"(45.7 cm) (tall) with 20Ib. (9 kg.)
capacity maximum.
, LP Tanks mustbe constructed and marked in accordance with
specifications for LP Tanksd the U.S. Department of
Transportation (DOT) or for Canada, CAN/CSA-B339, tanks,
spheres and tubes for transportation of dangerous goods.

LP Tank Removal, Transport And Storage
• Turn OFF all control knobs and LPtank valve.Turn coupling
nut counterclockwise by hand only- do not use tools to
disconnect. Lift LPtank wire upward off of LPtank collar,then
tift LP tankup and off of support bracket, install safety cap onto
LP tank valve.Always use cap and strap supplied with valve.

LP (Liquefied Petroleum Gas)
• LP gas is nontoxic, odorless and colorless when produced. For
Your Safety, LPgas has been given an odor(similar to rotten
cabbage) so that it can be smelled.
• LP gas is highly flammable and may ignite unexpectedlywhen
mixed with air.
LP Tank Filling
• Use onty licensedand experienceddealers.
• LP dealer must purge new tank beforefilling.
• Dealer shoutd NEVER fill LPTank more than 80% of LPTank
volume. Volume of propane in tank wili vary by temperature.
• A frosty regulator indicates gas overfill. Immediately close LP
Tank valve and caIIlocal LPgas dealer for assistance.
, Do not release liquid propane (LP) gas into the atmosphere.
This is a hazardous practice.
, Toremove gasfrom LP Tank contact an LP deaIer or catia
local fire department for assistance. Check the telephone

LP Tank Exchange
Connecting Regulator To The LP Tank
• Many retailersthat seIIgrills offer you the option of replacing
your empty LP tankthrough an exchange service, Use only
those reputable exchangecompanies that inspect precision fitl,
test and certifytheir tanks. Exchange your tank only for an
OPB safety feature-equipped tank as described in the "LP
Tank" section of this manual.
• Always keep new and exchanged LPtanks in upright position
during use, transit or storage.

connecting to grill,
LP Tank Leak Test
For your safety
• Leak test must be repeated each time LPtank is exchanged or
refilled.
• Do not smoke during Ieak test.
• Do not use an open flame to check for gas leaks.
• Grill mustbe Ieak tested outdoors ina welI-ventilated area,
away from ignition sources such as gas fired or electrical
appliances, During Ieak test, keep grill away from open flames
or sparks.
• Use a clean paintbrush and a 50/50 mild soap and water
solution. Brush soapy solutiononto areas indicated by arrows
in figure below. Leaks are indicated by growingbubbles.
1. LP tank must be properly secured onto grill. (Referto
assembly section.)
2. Turnatl controI knobs to the OFF position.
3. TurnLP tankOFF by turning OPD hand wheel clockwise to a
full stop.
4. Remove the protective cap from LPtank valve. Always use
cap and strap supplied with valve,

Leak Testing Valves, Hoseand Regulator
1. Turn all grill control knobs to OFF.
2. Be sure regulator is tightly connected to LPtank.

Completely open LP tank valve by turning OPDhand wheel
counterclockwise. If you hear a rushing sound, turn gas off
immediately.There is a major leak atthe connection. Correct
before proceeding by calling Sears for replacement parts at
1-800.4-MY-HOME®.
4. Brush soapy solution onto areas where bubbles are shown in
picture below:
• Neverremovethreaded
orificeat endofvalve.
6. Turnthe coupling nut clockwise and tighten to afull stop. The
regulatorwiii seal on the back-check feature inthe LP tank
valve, resulting in some resistance.An additional one-half to
three-quarters turn is required to complete the
connection.Tighten by hand only - do not usetools.
NOTE:
tf you cannot complete the connection, disconnect regulator and
repeat steps 5 and6. If youare still unable to complete the
connection, do not usethis regulator!
• Do not insert any tooI or foreign objects into the valve outlet
or safetyfetid valve. You may damage thevalve and cause
a leak. Leaking propane mayresult in explosion,fire, severe
personal injury, or death,.
• If a leak is detected at anytime, STOP and call the fire
department.
• If you cannot stopa gasleak, immediately close LPtank
valve andcall LP gas supplier or your fire department!

5. If "growing" bubbles appear, there is a leak. Close LP tank
valve immediately and retighten connections. If leaks cannot
be stoppeddo not try to repair. Call Sears for replacement
parts at 1-800-4-MY-HOME®.
6. Always close LPtank valve afterperforming leak test by
turning hand wheeIclockwise.
. Never attempt to attach this grill to the self-contained LP gas
system of a camper trailer or motor home.
• Do not use grill until leak-tested.

For Safe Use Of Your Grill And To Avoid Serious
Injury:
• Do not let children operate orplay near grill.
• Keep griii area clear andfree from materialsthat burn.
• Do not btock holes in bottomor back of grill.
• Check burner flames regularly.
• Use grittonly in well-ventilated space. NEVERuse in
enclosed space such as carport, garage, porch, covered
patio, or under anoverhead structure of any kind.
• Do not use charcoal or ceramic briquetsin agas grill.
(Unless briquets aresupplied with your grill.)
• Use grill at least 3 ft. from any wall or surface, Maintain
10ft. clearance to objects that can catch fire or sources of
ignition such as pilot lights on water heaters, live electricaI
appliances, etc.
Safety Tips
• Before opening LP tank valve, check the coupling nut for
tightness.
• When griIIis not inuse, turn off aII controI knobs and LP tank
valve.
• Never move grill while inoperation or still hot.
• Use long-handled barbecue utensilsand oven mittsto avoid
burns and splatters.
• Maximum load for shelves is 10 Ibs.
• Do not use a cookingpot larger than 9" on grid.
• The grease tray must be installed into opening inback paneI
and should beemptied aftereach use. Donot remove grease
tray until grill has compIeteIy cooled.
• If you notice grease or other hot material dripping from grill
onto valve, hose or regulator, turn offgas supply at once.
Determinethe cause, correct it, then clean and inspect valve,
hose and regulator before continuing. Perform a Ieak test.
• The regulator maymake a humming or whistling noise during
operation. This wilt not affect safetyor use of grill.
• If you have a grill problem see the "TroubleshootingSection".
• Apartment Dwellers:
Check with management to learn the requirements andfire
codes for using an LP gas grill in your apartment complex. If
allowed use outside on the groundfloor with a three (3) foot
clearance from walls or rails. Do not use on or under
balconies.
• NEVER attempt to light burnerwith lid closed. A buildup
of non-ignited gas inside a closed grill is hazardous.
• Never operate grill with LP tank out of correct position
specified in assembly instructions.
• Always close LP tank valve and remove coupling nut
beforemoving LP tank from specified operation
position.
If the regulator frosts, turn off grill and LPtank valve
immediately. This indicates a problem with the tank and it
should not be used on any product. Return to supplier!
Main Burner Ignitor Lighting
• Do not lean over grill while lighting.
1. Open lid during lighting.
2. TurnON gas valve from source or tank.
3. Push and turn burner control knob to _- and youwiII heara
clicking sound as the burner is being ignited.

tf ignition does NOToccur in 5 seconds, turn the burner
control knobOFF,wait 5 minutes for gas to clear, and repeat
the lighting procedure.

Repeat above steps to light each burner individually.After
lighting: Turn knobsto HI positionfor 15 minutes to pre heat
the grill. Then turn knobsto desired setting for cooking.

Important: When using the rotisserie burner, donot use the
main burners.
CAUTION
If burner does not light, turn knobs to OFF, wait 5
minutes, andtry again. Always close valve during the 5
minute waiting period. If the burner does not ignite with
the valve open, gaswill continue to flow out of the burner
and couldaccidentally ignite with risk of injury.

2. Place match into match holder (hanging fromside of cart).
Light match, place into lighting hole on right side offirebox,
3. Push in and turn right knob to Ht position. Be sure burner
lights and stays lit.
4. tf ignition does NOToccur in 5 seconds, turn the burner
control knobOFF,wait 5 minutes for gas to clear, and repeat
the lighting procedure.
5. Light other burners by pushing knob in and turning to Hi
position.After lighting: Leave knobs in HI position for 15
minutesto pre heat the grill. Then turn knobsto desired setting
for cooking.
• Do not lean over grill while lighting.
1. Turn OFF all gas burner control valves.
2 .OPENlid duringlighting.
3. Toignite, turn the rotisserie knobto_. ,and youwilt heara
clicking sound asthe burner is being ignited.
4. If ignitiondoes NOT occur in5 seconds turn the burner
controlsto OFF,wait 5 minutesfor gas to clear,and repeat the
lighting procedure.
If ignition still does not occur, follow match-lighting
instructions.
Rotisserie Burner Match Lighting
• Do not lean over grill while lighting.
1. Open lidduring lighting. Turn on gas at LPTank.
2. Race lit match into rotisserie match lighting hole.
3. Turnrotisserie burner knobto HIGHposition. Be sure burner
lights and stays lit.
4. If ignitiondoes NOT occur in5 seconds turn the burner
controlsto OFF,wait 5 minutesfor gas to clear,and repeat the
lighting procedure.
Side Burner Ignitor Lighting
• Do not lean over grill while lighting.
1. Open lidduring lighting. Turn on gas at LPTank.

asthe burner is being ignited.

• Putting out grease fires byclosing the lid is not
possible. Grills arewell ventilatedfor safety reasons.
• Do not use water on a grease fire. Personal injury may
result. If agrease fire develops, turn knobs and LP tank
off.

Do not leavegrill unattendedwhile preheating or
burningoff food residue on high. Ifgrill has not been
regularly cleaned, a greasefire can occur that may
damage the product. Follow instructions onGeneral
Grill Cleaningand CleaningThe Burner Assembly to

Before Your First Cookout
• Light burners, checkto make sure they are tit,close the iid and
warm upgrill on HiGH for 15minutes. This curing of paint and
parts will produce anodor only on first lighting.
Burner Flame Check
• Light burner, rotate knobsfrom HiGH to LOW.You shoutdsee
a smallerflame inLOW position than seen on HIGH.Always
check flame prior to each use. tf only low flame is seen refer to
"Sudden drop or towflame" in the TroubleshootingSection.
Hose Check
• Before each use, check to see if hoses are cut, worn or kinked.
Replace damaged hosesbefore using grill. Use only
vaive/hose/reguiator specified inthe Parts List.

• Plated wire grates: Wash grates with concentrated grill cleaner
or use soap and water solution. Drythoroughly andstore indoors
between cookouts.
• Plastic parts: Wash withwarm soapywater and wipe dry.
• Do not use citrisoi, abrasive cleaners, degreasers ora
concentrated grill cleaner on plastic parts. Damage to andfailure
of parts can result.
• Porcelain grates: Because d glass-like composition, most
residue can be wiped away withbaking soda/water soIution or
speciaIIyformulated cIeaner. Use non-abrasive scouring powder
for stubborn stains.
• Cooking surfaces: if a bristle brush is used to clean any of
the griII cookingsurfaces, ensure no Ioose bristles remainon
cooking surfaces prior to griIling, it is not recommended to
clean cooking surfaceswhile grill is hot.

Valve Check
• Important: Make sure gas is off at LPtank beforechecking
valves. Knobs lock in OFF position. Tocheck valves, first
push in knobsand release, knobs shoutd spring back. if knobs
do notspring back, replace valve assembty before using grill.
Turn knobs to LOposition then turn back to OFF position.
Valves should turn smoothly.
GeneralGrill Cleaning
• Keep the outside of your grilt looking new by cleaning it once a
month with warm soap and water or a non-abrasive cIeaner, tf
you don't have a grill cover,wipe off dust and grime before
starting your griII.
•Coating the cooking gridswith spray-on cooking oil witt keep the
food from stickingand makedean up easier.After cooking,
scrape the grates with aIong handled, brass wire bristle brush.
• Check inside the grill bottomfor grease build up and clean
often, especially after cookingfatty meat.
• Do not mistake brown or black accumulation of grease and
smoke for paint. Apply a strong solution of detergent and water
or usea grill cleaner with scrub brush on insides of grilllid and
bottom. Rinse and allowto completely air dry.Do not apply a
caustic grill/oven cleaner to painted surfaces.

Cleaning the Burner Assembly
Follow these instructions to clean and/or replace parts of burner
assembIy or if you have troubte igniting griIL
1. Turn gas off at control knobs and LPTank.
2. Remove cooking grates and heat diffusers.
3. Remove screwsand flame carryover tubes from rearof
burners.
4, Remove screw and washers to disengage burner from
bracket on firebox.
5. Remove screwsto detach electrode from burner. Eiectrode
shouId remain infirebox.
6. Carefully lift each burner up andaway fromvaIve openings.
Storing Your Grill
• Clean cooking grates.
• Store in dry Iocation.
, When LP tank is connected to grili, store outdoors in weli-
ventilated space andout of reach of chiIdren.
, Cover grillif stored outdoors.
• Store griIl indoors ONLY if LPtank is turned off and
disconnected, removed from grill and stored outdoors.

We suggest three ways to clean the burner tubes. Use the one
easiestfor you.
(A) Bend a stiff wire (a light weight coat hanger works weIt)
into a smalI hook. Run the hook through each burner
tube several times.

(B) Use a narrow bottle brushwith aflexible handle (do not
use a brass wire brush), run the brush through each
burner tube several times.
(C) Wear eye protection: Usean airhose to force air into
the burner tube andout the burner ports. Check each
port to make sure air comes out each hole.
7. Wire brush entire outer surface of burner to remove food
residue and dirt.
8. Clean any blocked ports with a stiff wire such as an open
paper clip.
9. Check burnerfor damage, due to normalwear and corrosion
some holes may become enlarged. Ifany large cracks or
holes are found replace burner.
VERY IMPORTANT: Burnertubes must re-engage valve
openings. See illustrationsat right. Correct

13. Reposition flame carryover tubes and attach

How To Tell If Meat Is Grilled Thoroughly
