This is the safety alert symbol° It alerts you to safety messages that inform you
of hazards that can kilt or hurt you or others, or cause damage to the product,,
All safety messages wil! be preceded by the safety alert symbol and the hazard
signal word DANGER, WARNING, or CAUTION. These words mean:
You _ be killed or seriously injured if you don't follow instructions.
You can be killed or seriously injured if you don't follow instructions°
indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided,
may result in minor or moderate injury, or product-damage-only.
All safety messages will identify the hazard, tell you how to reduce the chance of injury,
and tell you what can happen if the instructionsare not followed,,
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury
to persons when using your product, basic safety
precautions should be followed, including the
following:
- NEVER unplug your refrigerator by pulling on the
power cord, Always grip the plug firmly and pull it
straight out from the outlet.
• Repair or replace immediately all electric service
cords that have become frayed or otherwise
damaged. Do not use a cord that shows cracks or
abrasion damage along its length or at either the
plug or connector end,
• When moving your refrigerator away from the watl,
be careful not to roll over or damage the power cord,
• DO NOT store or use gasoline or other flammable
vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other
appliance.
DO NOT allow children to climb, stand or hang on
the refrigerator doors or shelves in the refrigerator.
They could damage the refrigerator and seriously
injure themselves.
Unplug your refrigerator before making any repairs.
NOTE: We strongly recommend that any servicing
be performed by a qualified individual.
Before replacing a burned-out light bulb, unplug
the refrigerator or turn off power at the circuit
breaker or fuse box in order to avoid contact with
a live wire filament. (A burned-out light bulb may
break when being replaced,) NOTE: Moving the
control to the OFF position does not remove power
to the light circuiL
For personal safety, this appliance must be properly
grounded. Have the war! outtet and the circuit
checked by a qualified electrician to make sure the
outlet is properly grounded.
3
• Read all instructions before using this appliance.
• Use this appliance only for its intended purpose as
described in this owner's guide,
° This refrigerator must be properly installed in
accordance with the Attention Installer Instructions that
were taped to the front of the refrigerator.
• After your refrigerator is in operation, do not touch the
cold surfaces in the freezer compartment when hands
are damp or wet. Skin may adhere to the extremely
cold surfaces.
• DO NOT place fingers or hands on the automatic
icemaking mechanism while the refrigerator is plugged
in, This will help protect you from possible inju_ It will
also prevent interference with the moving parts of the
ejector mechanism, or with the heating element that
releases the cubes.
• DO NOT refreeze frozen foods which have thawed
completely. The United States Department of
Agriculture in Home and Garden Bulletin No, 69 says:
"...You may safely refreeze frozen foods that have
thawed if they still contain ice crystals or if they are stil!
cold--below 40°F (4°C).
'L..Thawed ground meats, poultry or fish that have any
off-odor or off-color should not be refrozen and should
not be eaten. Thawed ice cream should be discarded.
If the odor or color of any food is poor or questionable,
get rid of it° The food may be dangerous to eat.
"Even partial thawing and refreezing reduces the
eating quality of foods, particularly fruits, vegetables
and prepared foods. The eating quality of red meats
is affected less than that of many other foods, Use
refrozen foods as soon as possible to save as much of
their eating quality as you can,,"
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Child entrapment and suffocation are not problems of
the past° Junked or abandoned refrigerators are still
dangerous,..even ff they wilt sit for °just a few days." ff
you are getting rid of your old refrigerator, please follow
the instructions at right to help prevent accidents.
Your old refrigerator has a cooling system that used
CFCs (chtorofluorocarbons). CFCs are believed to harm
stratospheric ozone.
BEFORE YOU THROW AWAY
"-/'OUR OLD REFRIGERATOR
OR FREEZER
• Take off the doors.
• Leave the shelves in place so that
children may not easily climb inside.
If you are throwing away your old refrigerator, make sure
the CFC refrigerant is removed for proper disposal by a
qualified servicer. If you intentionally release this CFC
refrigerant you can be subject to fines and imprisonment

RECOMMENDED GROUNDING METHOD
The refrigerator should always be plugged into its own
individual properly grounded electrical cutlet rated for
115 Volts, 60 Hz, AC only and fused at 15 or 20
amperes. This provides the best performance and also
prevents overloading house wiring circuits which could
cause a fire hazard from overheated wires. It is
recommended that a separate circuit serving only this
appliance be provided° Use a receptacle which cannot
be turned off with a switch or pull chain. Do not use an
extension cord°
Where a standard two-prong wall outlet isencountered, it
is your personal responsibility and obligation to have it
replaced with a properly grounded three-prong wall outlet.
D6 not, under any circumstances, cut or remove the
third (ground) prong from the power cord.
USE OF EXTENSION CORDS
Because of potential safety hazards under certain
conditions, we strongly recommend against the use
of an extension cord. However, if you still elect to use
an extension cord, it is absolutely necessary that it be a
UL-listed (in the United States) or a CSAqisted (in
Canada), 3-wire grounding type appliance extension
cord having a grounding type plug and outlet and that
the electrical rating of the cord be 15 amperes
(minimum) and 120 volts.
Use of an extension cord will increase the clearance
needed for the back of the refrigerator.

LOCATION
ROLLERS/LEVELING LEGS
o Install the refrigerator on a floor strong enough to
support it when it is fully loaded°
• Do not install it where the temperature will go
below 60°F (16°O) because it will not run often
enough to maintain proper temperature&
• Do not install it next to your range, a heating vent
or where the sun wilt shine directly on it.
CLEARANCES
Allow the following clearances for ease of installation,
proper air circulation, and plumbing and electrical
connections:
t
3
Leveling legs near each front corner of the refrigerator
are adjustable. They firmly position the refrigerator and
prevent it from opening when the doors are closed, They
should be set so the front is raised just enough that the
doors close easily when opened about halfway. Turn the
leveling legs clockwise to raise the refrigerator,
counterclockwise to lower it.
Rollers next to the leveling legs enable you to move the
refrigerator away from the wall for cleaning,. Turn the
tegs counterclockwise until the weight of the refrigerator
is transferred from the legs to the rotlerso After rolling the
refrigerator back into place, turn the legs clockwise until
the legs again support the refrigerator.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Electrical Shock Hazard
• Disconnect electrical supply to refrigerator before
installing,
• Electrical ddll must be grounded before drilling
holes in water lineo
Failure to do so could result in electrical shock,
serious injury, or death_
. ff the water supply to the refrigerator isfrom a Reverse
Osmosis Water Filtration System and the refrigerator is
equipped with a built-in filtration system, it is not
necessary to use the refrigerator's water filter,rUse the
refrigerator's filter bypass plugo Using the refrigerator's
water filtration cartridge in conjunction with the RO
filter can result in hollow ice cubes and slower water
flow from the water dispenser.
• Follow these instructions carefully to minimize the risk
of expensive water damage,
• Water hammer (water banging in the pipes) in house
plumbing can cause damage to refrigerator parts and
lead to water leakage or flooding,. Call a qualified
plumber to correct water hammer before installing the
water supply line to the refrigerator,
• To prevent burns and product damage, do not hook up
the water line to the hot water line.
• If you use your refrigerator before connecting the water
line, make sure the icemaker feeler arm is kept in the
STOP (up) pcsition.
• DO NOT install the icemaker tubing in areas where
temperatures fall below freezing.
• When using any electrical device (such as a power
drill) during installation, be sure the device is insulated
or wired in a manner to prevent the hazard of electric
shock.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Cold water supply. The water pressure must be
between 20 and 120 pos.L
• Power drill.
• A water supply kit containing the following items can
be purchased from your Sears store or Sears
Service Center,,
Copper tubing, 1/4 cuter diameter to connect the
refrigerator to the water supply, Be sure both ends of
the tubing are cut square.
To determine how much copper tubing you need:
Measure the distance from the water valve on the back
of the refrigerator to the water supply pipe. Then add 8
feet (244 cm)o Be sure there is sufficient extra tubing
[about 8 feet (244 cm) coiled into 3 turns of about I0
inches (25 cm) diameter] to allow the refrigerator to
move out from the wall after installation°
DO NOT use 1/4 outer diameter plastic tubing or
plastic fittings,
Two 1]4 outer diameter compression nuts and
2 ferrules (sleeves)--to connect the copper tubing to
the shutoff valve and the refrigerator water valve.
Shutoff valve to connect to the cold water iineoThe
shutoff vaIve should have a water inlet with a minimum
inside diameter of 5/32 at the point of connection to
the COLD WATER LINEo DO NOT use self-piercing
3/16 diameter saddle valves° Both may reduce water
flow and clog easity. Saddle-type shutoff valves are
included in many water supply kits. Before purchasing,
make sure a saddle-type valve complies with your
local plumbing codes..
NOTE: If your existing water line has a flared fitting at
the end, you will need an adapter (available at
plumbing supply stores) to connect the water line to
the refrigerator OR you can cut off the flared fitting with
a tube cutter and then use a compression fitting.
• All installations must be in accordance with local
plumbing code requirements.
8
[!] SHUT OFF THE MAIN WATER SUPPLY.
Turn on the nearest faucet tong enough to clear the line
of water_
[_ INSTALL THE SHUTOFF VALVE.
a. Install the shutoff valve on the nearest frequently used
drinking water line..
b. Choose a location for the valve that is easily
accessible. It is best to connect into the side of a
vertical water pipe. When it is necessary to connect
into a horizontal water pipe, make the connection to
the top or side, rather than at the bottom, to avoid
drawing off any sediment from the water pipe.
c. Drill a 1/4 hole in the water pipe, using a sharp bit.
Remove any burrs resulting from drilling the hole in
the pipe.
[_ ROUTE THE COPPER TUBING AND
CONNECT IT TO THE SHUTOFF VALVE.
Route the copper tubing between the cold water line and
the refrigerator.
Route the tubing through a hole drilled in the wall or floor
(behind the refrigerator or adjacent base cabinet) as
close to the wall as possible.
Be sure there is sufficient extra tubing [about 8 feet
(244 cm) coiled into 3 turns of about 10 (25 cm)
diameter] to allow the refrigerator to move out from
the wall after installation.

Tighten any connections that leak.
[_ PLUG IN THE REFRIGERATOR.
Arrange the coil of copper tubing so that it does not
vibrate against the back of the refrigerator or against the
wall.
Check for leaks again after 24 hours°
We recommend installing a water filter if your water
supply has sand or particles that could clog the screen
of the refrigerator's water valver Install it in the water line
near the refrigerator.
a. Remove the plastic flexible cap from the water valve.
boPlace the compression nut and ferrule (sleeve) onto
the end of the tubing as shown,
c. Insert the end of the copper tubing into the water
valve connection as far as possible. While holding the
tubing, tighten the fitting,
d. Fasten the copper tubing into the clamp provided
on the back of the refrigerator. You may need to pry

[] START THE ICEMAKER.
Set the icemaker feeler arm to the ON (down) position.
The icemaker will not begin to operate until it reaches its
operating temperature of 15°F (-9°C) or below. It will
then begin operation automatically ff the icemaker feeler
arm is in the ON (down) position.
NOTE: The icemaker may double-cycle when it first
starts, causing some water spillage from the icemaker
into the ice bucket. This is normal and should not
happen again.
_-j THROW AWAY THE FIRST FEW
BATCHES OF ICE CUBES.
Once the icemaker is in operation, throw away the first
few batches of ice cubes. This will flush away impurities
in the water fine.
Refer to Ice Service and Ice and Water Dispenser
sections for steps to take before using your dispenser
and icemaker.

HOW TO TEST TEMPERATURES
To test the fresh food <
compartment place a bulb-type
thermometer into a jar of water
on the top shelf. Check it one
day later.
The temperature control dial has nine settings plus OFF
"1" is the warmest. "9" is the coldest, initially set the
temperature control dial at "5."
After using the refrigerator, adjust the temperature
control if necessary. Insert a coin into the slot in the
middle of the dial and you can turn the dial to the setting
that is best suited to your needs°
Allow 24 hours for temperatures to stabilize.
NOTE: Turning the temperature control dial to OFF
stops cooling in both compartments--fresh food and
freezer.
FRESH FOOD STORAGE TIPS
To store unfrozen meats, fish and poultry:
• Always remove store wrappings_
• Rewrap in foil, plastic wrap, wax paper or plastic
storage bags and refrigerate immediately.
• Store raw meat, poultry and seafood on the bottom
shelf of the refrigerator so juices won't drip onto
other foods.
To store cheese, wrap well with wax paper or aluminum
foil, or put in a plastic storage bag.
To test the freezer
compartment put a bulb-
type thermometer between
two or three frozen packages
in the center of the freezer.
Check it one day later.
To store vegetables, use the vegetable drawers--
they've been designed to preserve the natural moisture
and freshness of produce.
• Covering vegetables with a moist towel helps maintain
crispness
• As a further aid to freshness, pre-packaged vegetables
can be stored in their original wrappingo
• Do not wash prior to storage.
• Carefully wrap to expel air and help prevent mold.
. Pre-packaged cheese can be stored in its own
wrapping,
11
TIPS ON FREEZING FOODS
• Freeze only top-quality foods. Freezing retains
quality and flavor; it cannot improve quality.
• Freeze fruits and vegetables quickly after picking
to retain quality.
, Use food wraps or storage bags designed
especially for freezing.
To store ice cream--Fine-quality ice cream, with high
cream content, will normally require slightly lower
temperatures than more "airy" already-packaged brands
with low cream content,
• It will be necessary to experiment to determine the
freezer compartment location and temperature control
setting to keep your ice cream at the ricjht serving
temperature.
• The rear of the freezer compartment is slightly colder
than the front.
To freeze meat, fish and poultry, wrap welt in
freezer-weight foil (or other heavy-duty wrapping
material) forming it carefully to the shape of the
contents, This expels air. Fold and crimp ends of
the package to provide a good. lasting seal,
Do not refreeze meat that has completely thawed;
meat, whether raw or cooked, can be frozen
successfully only once.
SUGGESTED STORAGE TIMES
Meats, fish and poultry purchased from the store vary in
quality and age; consequently, safe storage times in your
refrigerator will vary° For meat and poultry information,
call the Uo& Depto of Agriculture at 800-535-4555.
New techniques are constantly being developed. Consult
the College or County Extension Service or your local
Utility Company for the latest information on freezing and
storing foods..

(optionalat extra cost)
If your refrigerator did not come already equipped with
an automatic icemaker, you may add one--contact your
Sears store or Sears Service Center.
AUTOMATIC ICEMAKER
(on icemaker-equipped models)
If your refrigerator is
operated before water is
connected to the
icemaker, keep the
icemaker feeler arm in the
STOP (up) position,,
When the refrigerator has
been connected to the
water supply and the
water has been turned
on, move the ice storage
bin into place under the
icemaker. Then move
the feeler arm to the ON

Once your icemaker is in operation, throw away the
first few batches of ice cubes. This will flush away any
impurities in the water line. Do the same thing after
vacations or long periods when ice isn't used.
Move feeler arm to STOP (up) position when:
• the home water supply is to be off for several hours,
• the ice storage bin is to be removed for a period
of time.
• going away on vacation. (Also turn off the valve in the
water supply line to the refrigerator.)
• turning the temperature control to the OFF position,
If ice is not used often, old cubes will become
cloudy and taste stale. Empty the ice storage bin
periodically and wash it in lukewarm water.
tf this is your first icemaker, you will hear occasional
sounds that may be unfamiliar° They are normal ice-
making sounds and are not cause for concern.
WATER FILTER ACCESSORY
(optional at extra cost)
Your ice cubes can only be as fresh-tasting as the water
that produces them. That's why it's a good idea to purify
the water with a water filter,
The water filter is an optional part at extra cost and is
available from your Sears Service Center° Order Filter

OUTSIDE
BEHIND REFRIGERATOR
The door handles and trim can be cleaned with a cloth
dampened with a solution of mild liquid dishwashing
detergent and water. Dry with a soft cloth. Don't wax
handles or trim..
Keep the finish clean. Wipe with a clean cloth lightly
dampened with kitchen appliance wax or mild liquid
dishwashing detergent. Dry and polish with a clean, soft
cloth. Do not wipe the refrigerator with a so!fed
dishwashing cloth or wet towel. These may leave a
residue that can harm the paint. Do not use scouring
pads, powdered cleaners, bleach or cleaners containing
bleach because these products can scratch and weaken
the paint finish.
Protect the paint finish. The finish on the outside of the
refrigerator is a high quality, baked-on paint finish° With
proper care, it will stay new-looking and rust-free for
years° Apply a coat of kitchen/appliance wax when the
refrigerator is new and then at least twice a year.
INSIDE
Clean the inside of the fresh food and freezer
compartments at least once a year. Unplug the
refrigerator before cleaning. If this isnot practical, wring
excess moisture out of sponge or cloth when cleaning
around switches, lights or controls.
Apply an appliance wax!polish to the inside surface
between the doors°
Use warm water and baking soda solution--about a
tablespoon (15 ml) of baking soda to a quart (1 L) of
water° This both cleans and neutralizes odors. Rinse
thoroughly with water and wipe dry.
Avoid cleaning cold glass shelves (on some models)
with hot water because the extreme temperature
difference may cause them to break.
Other parts of the refrigerator--including door gaskets,
meat and vegetable drawers, ice trays and all plastic
parts--can be cteaned the same way_ Do not use
cleansing powders or other abrasive cleaners. After
cleaning door gaskets, apply a thin layer of petroleum
jetly to the door gaskets at the hinge side. This helps
keep the gaskets from sticking and bending out of shape.
To help prevent odors, leave an open box of baking
soda in the rear of the refrigerator, on the top shelf.
Change the box every three months. An open box of
baking soda in the freezer will absorb stale odors.
Do not wash any plastic parts from your |
refrigerator In your automatic dishwasher.
Be careful moving your refrigerator away from the walt.
All types of floor coverings can be damaged, particularly
cushioned coverings and those with embossed surfaces.
Turn the leveling legs counter-c!ockwise until the rollers
support the refrigerator,
Put! the refrigerator straight out and push it straight
back--moving it in a side direction may damage your
floor covering or refrigerator.
After rolling the refrigerator back into place, turn the legs
clockwise until the legs again bear the weight of the
refrigerator.
UNDER REFRIGERATOR
The condenser is located
behind the base rail.
For most efficient
operation, you need to
keep the condenser
clean. Turn temperature
control to OFF, Sweep
away or vacuum dust that
is readily accessible on condenser coils, then turn the
control back on. For best resutts, use a brush specially
designed for this purpose. It Is available at your Sears
store or service center° This easy cleaning operation
should be done at least once a year.
Clean the condenser coils

LIGHT BULB REPLACEMENT
Electrical Shock Hazard
Before replacing a burned-out light bulb, either
unplug the refrigerator or turn off power at the
circuit breaker or fuse box.
NOTE: Moving the control to the OFF position
does not remove power to the light circuit.
A light butb and socket are
located at the top of the
fresh food compartment
just behind the temperature
control dial. To replace a
bumed-out bulb, unplug
the refrigerator, unscrew
the bulb when cool, and
