Indicates an imminently hazardous situation which, if not avoided,
may result in minor or moderate injury, or product-damage-only.
All safety messages wilf identify the hazard, tell you how to reduce the chance of injury,
and tell you what can happen if the instructions are not followed.
To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury
to persons when using your product, basic safety
precautions should be followed, including the
following:
• NEVER unplug your refrigerator by pulling on the
power cord. Always grip the plug firmly and pull it
straight out from the outlet.
• Repair or replace immediately all electric service
cords that have become frayed or otherwise
damaged. Do not use a cord that shows cracks or
abrasion damage along its length or at either the
plug or connector end.
• When moving your refrigerator away from the wall,
be careful not to roll over or damage the power cord
• DO NOT store or use gasoline or other flammable
vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other
appliance.
DO NOT allow children to climb, stand or hang on
the refrigerator doors or shelves in the refrigerator.
They could damage the refrigerator and seriously
injure themselves
Unplug your refrigerator before making any repairs°
NOTE: We strongly recommend that any servicing
be performed by a qualified individual.
Before replacing a burned-out light bulb, unplug
the refrigerator or turn off power at the circuit
breaker or fuse box in order to avoid contact with
a live wire filament.. (A burned-out light bulb may
break when being replaced,.) NOTE: Moving the
control to the OFF position does not remove
power to the light circuit.
For personal safety, this appliance must be properly
grounded. Have the wall outlet and the circuit
checked by a qualified electrician to make sure the
outlet is properly grounded.

• After your refrigerator is in operation, do not touch the
cold surfaces in the freezer compartment when hands
are damp or wet.. Skin may adhere to the extremely
cold surfaces,
° DO NOT place fingers or hands on the automatic
icemaking mechanism while the refrigerator is plugged
in, This will help protect you from possible injury. It wiII
also prevent interference with the moving parts of the
ejector mechanism, or with the heating element that
releases the cubes.
• DO NOT refreeze frozen foods which have thawed
completely. The United States Department of
Agriculture in Home and Garden Bulletin No. 69 says:
'L.,You may safely refreeze frozen foods that have
thawed if they still contain ice crystals or if they are
still cold--below 40°F (4°C).
'L..Thawed ground meats, poultry or fish that have any
off-odor or off-color should not be refrozen and should
not be eaten,. Thawed ice cream should be discarded°
If the odor or color of any food is poor or questionable,
get rid of it. The food may be dangerous to eat°
"Even partial thawing and refreezing reduces the
eating quality of foods, particularly fruits, vegetables
and prepared foods. The eating quality of red meats
is affected less than that of many other foods. Use
refrozen foods as soon as possible to save as much
of their eating quality as you can."
SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS
Child entrapment and suffocation are not problems of
the past. Junked or abandoned refrigerators are still
dangerous_.even if they will sit for "just a few days,"
If you are getting rid of your old refrigerator, please
follow the instructions at right to help prevent accidents°
Your old refrigerator has a cooling system that used
CFCs (cHorofluorecarbons)° CFCs are believed to
harm stratospheric ozone.
BEFORE YOU THROW AWAY
YOUR OLD REFRIGERATOR
OR FREEZER
• Take off the doors,
• Leave the shelves in place so that
children may not easily climb inside.
If you are throwing away your old refrigerator, make sure
the CFC refrigerant is removed for proper disposal by a
qualified servicer. If you intentionally release this CFC
refrigerant you can be subject to fines and imprisonment
under provisions of environmental legislation

IMPORTANT: Please read carefully.

The refrigerator should always be plugged into its own
individual properly grounded electrical outlet rated for
t15 Volts, 60 Hz, AC only and fused at 15 or 20
amperes_ This provides the best performance and also
prevents overloading house wiring circuits which could
cause a fire hazard from overheated wires° It is
recommended that a separate circuit serving only this
appliance be provided. Use a receptacle which cannot
be turned off with a switch or pull chain. Do not use an
extension cord.
Where a standard two-prong wall outlet is encountered,
it is your personal responsibility and obligation to have it
replaced with a properly grounded three-prong wall outlet.
Do not, under any circumstances, cut or remove the
third (ground) prong from the power cord.
USE OF EXTENSION CORDS
Because of potential safety hazards under certain
conditions, we strongly recommend against the use
of an extension cord. However, if you still elect to use
an extension cord, it is absolutely necessary that it be
a UL-listed (in the United States) or a CSA certified
(in Canada), 3-wire grounding type appIiance extension
cord having a grounding type plug and outlet and that
the electrical rating of the cord be t5 amperes
(minimum) and 120 volts°
Use of an extension cord will increase the clearance
needed for the back of the refrigerator.

Some models are equipped with trim kits that allow you
to install door panels. You can order pre-cut black or
white decorator panels from your Sears Service Center,
or you can add wood panels to match your kitchen
cabinets_
PANELS LESS THAN 114" (6 mm) THICK
When installing wood panels less than 1/4" (6 ram) thick,
you need to create a filler panel, such as 1/8" cardboard,
that will fit between the face of the door and the wood
panel, tf you are installing the pre-cut decorator panels,
pre-cut filler panels are included in the kit. The combined
thickness of the decorator or wood panel and the filler
panel should be 1/4" (6 mm)o
3/4" (19 mm) OR RAISED PANEL
A raised panel design screwed or glued to a 1/4"
(6 mm) thick backing, or a 3/4" (19 ram) routed board
can be used.. The raised portion of the panel must be
fabricated to permit clearances of at least 2" (51 mm)
from the handle side for fingertip clearance.

BEFORE YOU BEGIN
Electrical Shock Hazard
, Disconnect electrical supply to refrigerator before
installing.
• Electrical drill must be grounded before ddlting
holes in water line,
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Cold water supply. The water pressure must be
between 20 and 120 posJ. (1.4-8.2 bar) on models
without a water filter and between 40 and 120 pos.i.
(2°8-82 bar) on models with a water filter,.
• Power drill.
• A water supply kit containing the following items
can be purchased from your Sears store or Sears
Service Center.
Failure to do so could result in electrical shock,
serious injury, or death.
• If the water supply to the refrigerator is from a Reverse
Osmosis Water Filtration System AND the refrigerator
is equipped with a built-in filtration system, use the
refrigerator's filter bypass plug. Using the refrigerator's
water filtration cartridge in conjunction with the RO
filter can result in hollow ice cubes and slower water
flow from the water dispenser.
• Follow these instructions carefully to minimize the risk
of expensive water damage.
• Water hammer (water banging in the pipes) in house
plumbing can cause damage to refrigerator parts and
lead to water leakage or flooding. Call a qualified
plumber to correct water hammer before installing the
water supply line to the refrigerator.
o To prevent burns and product damage, do not hook up
the water line to the hot water line_
o If you use your refrigerator before connecting the water
line, make sure the icemaker feeler arm is kept in the
STOP (up) position.
= DO NOT install the icemaker tubing in areas where
temperatures fall below freezing.
Copper tubing, 1/4" outer diameter to connect the
refrigerator to the water supply. Be sure both ends of
the tubing are cut square.
To determine how much copper tubing you need:
Measure the distance from the water valve on the back
of the refrigerator to the water supply pipe. Then add
8 feet (244 Cm)oBe sure there is sufficient extra tubing
[about 8 feet (244 cm) coiled into 3 turns of about
t0 inches (25 cm) diameter] to allow the refrigerator
to move out from the wall after installation.
DO NOT use 1/4" outer diameter plastic tubing or
plastic fittings,
Two 1/4' outer diameter compression nuts and
2 ferrules (sleeves)--to connect the copper tubing
to the shutoff valve and the refrigerator water valve_
Shutoff valve to connect to the cold water line_ The
shutoff valve should have a water inlet with a minimum
inside diameter of 5/32" at the point of connection to
the COLD WATER LINE. DO NOT use self-piercing
3/t6" diameter saddle valves,. Both may reduce water
flow and clog easily. Saddle-type shutoff valves are
included in many water supply kits_ Before purchasing,
make sure a saddle-type valve complies with your
local plumbing codes_
° When using any electrical device (such as a power
drill) during installation, be sure the device is insulated
or wired in a manner to prevent the hazard of electric
shock..
• All installations must be in accordance with local
plumbing code requirements.
NOTE: If your existing water line has a flared fitting
at the end, you will need an adapter (available at
plumbing supply stores) to connect the water line to
the refrigerator OR you can cut off the flared fitting
with a tube cutter and then use a compression fitting
13

b. Choose a location for the valve that is easily
accessibieo It is best to connect into the side of a
vertical water pipe.. When it is necessary to connect
into a horizontal water pipe, make the connection to
the top or side, rather than at the bottom, to avoid
drawing off any sediment from the water pipe_

adjust controls, allow 24 hours for the refrigerator to
reach the temperature you have set.
• The freezer supplies cold air for both compartments_
° The freezer setting determines the compressor and
freezer fan run times.
The Fresh Food Control maintains the temperature in
the fresh food compartment by controlling the amount
of cold air that flows from the freezer to the fresh food
sider
• Both temperature controls may need adjustment to
get the desired temperature in the fresh food
compartment.
To test the fresh food compartment,
place a beverage on the top shelf_
After 24 hours, taste the drink. If the
temperature is not satisfactory, adjust
the setting.
To test the freezer, place ice cream in
the center of the freezer. Check it after
24 hours. If it's too hard or too soft,
adjust the setting_

The Convenience Center
consists of an automatic
icemaker, an ice & water
dispenser and a special
compartment with its
own door that becomes a
counter when you open it.
Frequently used items stored
on the fresh food door are
readily accessible through the
Convenience Center Compartment door without having
to open the main refrigerator door.. The upper fresh food
compartment light wifl come on when the Convenience
Center Compartment door is opened_ (NOTE: Be sure
to close the door after use)
The work surface on the Convenience Center counter is
durable, stain- and scratch-resistant, but do not use it as
a cutting board. Sharp utensils can damage it..
The special design of the
door allows you to tilt and lift
up the door in order
to clean the bottom of
the frame.
Cold air entering from the
freezer compartment keeps
the temperature in the
Convenience Center at proper
food-keeping levels.
The bin panel limits the amount
of cold air that escapes when the
Convenience Center door is
opened. To reach food from the
inside, lift the panel up,.
To remove the Convenience
Center bin, first remove the
panel using the hand holds.
Then remove the bin by
lifting it up and out.,
NOTE: Use caution in
closing or using the clean-
out feature in the presence
of small children.

A newly installed refrigerator may take up to
24 hours to begin making ice.
HOW THE ICEMAKER WORKS
The icemaker will produce 8 cubes per cycle--
approximately 120 cubes in a 24-hour period--
depending on freezer compartment temperature,
room temperature, number of door openings and
other use conditions.
If you use your refrigerator before the water connection
is made, make sure the icemaker feeler arm is in the
STOP (up) position,, When the water supply has been
connected to the icemaker, move the feeler arm to ON
(down) position
t
_arm in

The icemaker will fill with water when it cools to freezing,,
NOTE: With a newly-installed refrigerator, allow about 24
hours for the freezer compartment to get cold enough to
make ice.

MOVE FEELER ARM TO STOP (UP)
POSITION WHEN:
• Home water supply is to be turned off for several
hours,,
• Ice storage bin is to be removed for a period of time.,
° Going away on vacation, at which time you should
also turn off the valve in the water supply line to your
refrigerator,
o Moving the freezer control to the OFF position,,
IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST ICEMAKER...
You'll hear occasional sounds that may be unfamiliar.
These are normal icemaking sounds and are not cause
for concern.
IF ICE IS NOT USED OFTEN...
"Old" ice cubes will become cloudy and taste stale.
Empty ice storage bin periodically and wash it in
lukewarm water, Be sure to allow storage bin to
cool before replacing it--otherwise ice cubes
may stick to other parts of the icemaker,
Throw away the first few batches of ice cubes (16 or 24
cubes), This will flush away any impurities in the water
line. Do the same thing after vacations or extended
periods when ice isn'tuse&
To make sure the bin fills with ice, level the cubes
occasionally. When cubes fall into the bin they may pile
up close to the icemaker and push the feeler arm to the
STOP (up) position before the bin gets full, Keeping the
cubes level allows the icemaker to fill the bin.
The icemaker ejects cubes in groups of 8, and it is
normal for several cubes to be joined together.

against the dispenser pad.
Select CUBED ICE, CRUSHED
ICE (on some models) or
WATER_
The spill shelf is not self-
draining, To reduce water
spotting, the shelf and its grille
should be cleaned regularly.
If no water is dispensed when
the refrigerator is first installed, there may be air in the
water line system° Press the dispenser pad for at least
two minutes to remove trapped air from the water line
and to fill the water system° To flush out impurities in the
water line, throw away the first six glassfuls of water.
A light switch (on some models) turns the night light in
the dispenser on or off,,The light also comes on when
the dfspenser pad is pressed° The light in the dispenser
should be replaced with a 7-watt maximum bulb when it
burns o_Jt.
CAUTION: Never put fingers or any other
objects into the ice crusher discharge opening.

IMPORTANT FACTS ABOUT YOUR
DISPENSER
• Add ice before fitling the glass with a beverage.
• Do not add ice from trays or bags to the storage bin.
It may not crush or dispense well,,
° Avoid overfilling glass with ice and use of narrow
or extra-tall glasses, Backed-up ice can jam the
chute or cause the door in the chute to freeze shut,
If ice is blocking the chute, poke it through with a
wooden spoon°
= Beverages and foods should not be quick-chilled in the
ice storage bin° Cans, bottles or food packages in the
storage bin may cause the icemaker or auger to jam.
• Some crushed ice may be dispensed even though
you selected CUBED ICEoThis happens occasionally
when a few cubes accidentally get directed to the
crusher_
° After crushed ice is dispensed, some water may drip
from the chute.
. Sometimes a mound of snow will form on the door in
the ice chute, This condition is normal and usually
occurs when you have dispensed crushed ice
repeatedly. The snow will eventually evaporate°
o Dispensed water is not ice cold. For colder water,
add crushed ice or cubes before dispensing water.
To replace; Slide the bin
back until the tab on the bin
locks into the slot on the shelf_
If the bin does not go all the
way back, remove it and turn
the drive mechanism 1/4 turn,
Then push the bin back again
until the tab on the bin locks
into the slot on the shelf.

OUTSIDE
INSIDE
Convenience Center Compartment door--outside.
It's important that you use only window cleaner without
ammonia or a damp cloth to clean the glass and trim.
Avoid using wax on the Convenience Center door.
The dispenser well,
beneath the grille, should
be wiped dry° Water left in
the well may leave deposits
Remove the deposits by
adding undiluted vinegar to
the well. Soak until the deposits disappear or become
loose enough to rinse away.+
Avoid using wax on the spill shelf and trim.
The dispenser pad can be cleaned by using a warm
water and baking soda solution--about a tablespoon
(15 ml) of baking soda to a quart (1 l) of water.. Rinse
thoroughly with water and wipe dry,
HINT; Open the freezer door part way to prevent
dispensing of ice or water when cleaning,
The long door handles and trim (on models with a
trim kit) Clean with a cloth dampened with soapy water.
Dry with a soft cloth,.
Keep the finish clean. Wipe with a clean cloth lightly
dampened with kitchen appliance wax or mild liquid
dishwashing detergent+ Dry and polish with a clean,
soft cloth+ Do not wipe the refrigerator with a soiled
dishwashing cloth or wet towel These may leave a
residue that can harm the paint. Do not use scouring
pads, powdered cleaners, bleach or cleaners containing
bleach because these products can scratch and weaken
the paint finish.
Protect the paint finish. The outside of the
refrigerator has a high-quality, baked-on paint finish..
With proper care, it will stay new-looking and rust-free
for years° Apply a coat of kitchen/appliance wax, such as
Jubilee brand, when the refrigerator is new and then at
least twice a year
Press here to
remove grille
Clean the inside of the fresh food and freezer
compartments at least once a year° Unplug the
refrigerator before cleaning.. If this is not practical,
wring excess moisture out of sponge or cloth when
cleaning around switches, lights or controls.
Use warm water and baking soda solution--about a
tablespoon (15 mt) of baking soda to a quart (1 I) of
water. This both cleans and neutralizes odors_ Rinse
thoroughly with water and wipe dry.
Door magnets can be cleaned
the same way_
Convenience Center
Compartment door--inside.
Wipe up spiils right away. Use
one tablespoon (!5 ml) of baking Doer magnets
soda in one quart (1 I) of water to
clean the inside door surface, Convenience Center bin
and inside access door. Rinse, wipe dry.
Glass shelves and storage drawer cover. Avoid
cleaning cold glass shelves and glass storage drawer
cover with hot water because the extreme temperature
difference may cause them to break_
Handle glass shelves carefully. Bumping tempered glass
can cause it to shatter.
To help prevent odors, leave an open box of baking
soda in the rear of the refrigerator, on the top shelf_
Change the box every three months An open box of
baking soda in the freezer will absorb stale odors..
Do not wash any plastic parts from your
refrigerator in your automatic dishwasher.

CLEANING THE DECORATOR DOOR
PANELS
Clean these panels using an anti-static cleaner or a mild
detergent and water. (Look for anti+static cleaner in
electronic or computer departments) Rinse thoroughly
and blot dry with a clean, damp cloth or chamois Do not
use paper towels to wash or dry the panels. Do not use
cleaners that contain solvents, such as ammonia,
because they can damage the panels_
Shallow scratches and abrasions can be corrected with
a good grade of hard automobile paste wax. The wax
will fill in any minor surface scratches and will help to
maintain the luster of the panels.. Apply the wax
sparingly and buff lightly with a clean, soft cloth using a
circular motion Do not use a cleaner/wax combination+
UNDER REFRIGERATOR
For most efficient operation,
you need to keep the area
under the refrigerator clean1
Remove the base grille and
either sweep away or
vacuum up dust that is
readily accessible on the
condenser coils.
To remove the base grille,
open both doors, grasp the bottom
of the grille and pull it out..

from the wall+All types of floor coverings can be
damaged, particularly cushioned coverings and those
with embossed surfaces.. Pull the refrigerator straight out
and return it to position by pushing it straight in. Moving
your refrigerator in a side direction may result in damage
to your floor covering or refrigerator..
When pushing the refrigerator back, make sure you don't
roll over the power cord or icernaker supply line.
WHEN YOU GO ON VACATION
For extended vacations or absences, shut off power
to the refrigerator, turn the control to the OFF position
and clean the interior with a baking soda solution of one
tablespoon (15 ml) of baking soda to one quart (1 I) of
water+ Wipe dry. To prevent odors, leave an open box of
baking soda in the refrigerator.. Leave the doors open.
Move icemaker feeler arm to the STOP (up) position and
shut off water supply to refrigerator+
If the temperature can drop below freezing, have a
qualified servicer drain the water supply system to
