Prevent Accidents

* Be sure the electrical service is adequate for the model you have chosen. This

cabinet.

* If the air conditioner is to be installed in a window, you will probably want to clean both

sides of the glass first. If the window is a triple-track type with a screen panel included,
remove the screen completely before installation.

* Be sure the air conditioner has been securely and correctly installed according to the

separate installation instructions provided with this manual. Save this manual and the

installation instructions for possible future use in removing or reinstalling this unit.

* When handling the air conditioner, be careful to avoid cuts from sharp metal fins on

The complete electrical rating of your new room air conditioner is stated on the serial
plate. Refer to the rating when checking the electrical requirements.

Be sure the air conditioner is properly grounded. To minimize shock and fire
hazards, proper grounding is important. The power cord is equipped with a

three-prong grounding plug for protection against shock hazards.

* Your air conditioner must be used in a properly grounded walt receptacle. If the

wall receptacle you intend to use is not adequately grounded or protected by a
time delay fuse or circuit breaker, have a qualified electrician install the proper

receptacle.

* Do not run air conditioner without outside protective cover in place. This could

result in mechanical damage within the air conditioner.

* Do not use an extension cord or an adapter plug.

Electrical Information

Unit must be upright for one hour prior to operating.

1. Plug in the Air Conditioner.

2. The power supply cord will have TWO buttons on the plug head. Press the TEST
button. You wilt notice a click as the RESET button pops out.

3. Press the RESET button. Again you wilt notice a click as the button engages.

4. The power supply cord is now supplying electricity to the unit. (On some products this

is also indicated by a light on the plug head).

NOTES:

• Do not use this device to turn the unit on or off.
. Always make sure the RESET button is pushed in for correct operation.

• The power supply cord must be replaced if it fails to reset when either the TEST button

is pushed, or it cannot be reset. A new one can be obtained by contacting Sears at

1-800-4-MY-HOME®.

• If power supply cord is damaged, it CANNOT be repaired. It MUST be replaced by one
obtained by contacting Sears at 1-800-4-MY-HOME®.

Note: Fan speed starts at high and adjusts to a slower speed as the room temperature
dictates. For example, if the room doesn't get too warm itwill stay at the slowest speed.
If the room temperature rises quickly, such as when a door is opened, itwill
automatically go to the highest speed. The fan speed will re=adjust back to the slowest
speed as the room returns to the original set temperature.

Use Fan Only function to circulate room air without air conditioner cooling. You can use
any fan speed you prefer and the actual room temperature will be displayed in the

DISPLAY.

To use Energy Saver press the MODE button to select:

You will save energy usage in this mode. The compressor and motor will turn off once
the room is at the desired temperature. The air will be sampled for 20 seconds every

10 minutes until the room is above the set temperature, at which point the compressor

turns back on and the fan runs. The entire process is now repeated.

To use the Sleep feature press the SLEEP button and the LED will illuminate:

The set temperature will increase 2 °F 30 minutes after this mode is selected. It will
increase again after 30 minutes by another 2 °F. It will stay at this set point for 7 hours,
and then return to the original setting.

To use the Timer function press the TIMER button and the LED will illuminate:

Press the UP and DOWN arrows to select the desired time up to 24 hrs. The control will
count down the time remaining in 1 and 0.5 hr increments. Ifyou need to change the set
temperature, press MODE then the UP/DOWN arrows. Then after 5 seconds the display

will revert to the hours remaining. This mode can be cancelled by pressing the TIMER

button. The mode will operate one time, then the above steps have to be repeated.
NOTE: Timer button is functional when On/Off button is set to either On or Off. When

set to On, the amount selected is the time remaining until the unit shuts Off. When set
to Off, the amount is the time until the unit turns On.

After 250 hours of operation, the Filter Reset LED will light. This is a reminder to clean

the filter housed behind the front panel to keep the unit operating efficiently. Pressing the
FILTER RESET button for 3 seconds will reset this reminder and turn off the LED.

Remote Sensing allows you to transmit the room temperature and desired
coolness setting from where you sit to the air conditioner. The air conditio-

ner then cools the area where you sit to your desired coolness setting.
Note: This feature can be activated from the remote control ONLY, and

the unit must be in a cooling mode.
To activate the remote sensing feature, point the remote control towards
the unit and press the remote sensing Start button. Next, use the "^ v ,,

buttons to set the desired room temperature with the remote. (Note that
the set temperature will only be displayed on the unit itself ). The LIGHT
on the unit control will pulse to indicate it received the signal. The LIGHT
on the remote control will pulse each time it sends a signal. It will periodi-
cally send this signal until the feature is deactivated by pressing the remo-

te sensing Stop button. If the unit does not receive the remote sensing
signal during any 200 second interval, the unit will beep to indicate the
remote sensing mode has ended. The display on the remote control indi-
cates the temperature at the remote ONLY.
NOTE: The Remote Sensing function is terminated either by using the

Remote Sensing Stop button or the main ON/OFF button on the unit.

ADDiTiONAL THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

Now that you understand the basic operation functions, here are more control features with which you should become

familiar.
* The "cool" circuit has an automatic 3 minute time delayed start if the unit is turned off and on quickly. This prevents

overheating of the compressor and possible circuit breaker tripping. The fan will continue to run during this time.

* There is a 2-Second delay for the compressor shutting down when selecting FAN ONLY. This is to cover the possibility

of having to roll through to select another mode.

* The control will maintain the set temperature within 2 degrees Fahrenheit, between 60F and 90F degrees.
* The control is capable of displaying temperature in degrees Fahrenheit or degrees Celsius. To convert from one to the

other and back, press and hold both the "TEMP/TIMER" Up(/'_) and Down (v) buttons for 3 seconds.

AUTO RE-START :
After a power outage, the unit will remember the last setting and return the unit to the same setting once power is restored.

AUGER WHEELS

Air Directional Louvers

Air directional louvers control air flow direction. Your air conditioner has the

8-way directional system described below.

The louvers will allow you to direct the air flow Up or Down and Left or Right
throughout the room as needed. Rotate the Auger Wheels until the desired

Left or Right direction is obtained. Pivot horizontal louvers with your fingertips
until the desired Up/Down direction is obtained. There are a total of 8 possible
air directional orientations available with this system.

Care and Cleaning

Air Filter

Clean your air conditioner occasionally to keep it looking new. Be sure to
unplug the unit before cleaning to prevent shock or fire hazards,

Air Filter Cleaning
The air filter should be checked at least once a month to see if cleaning is

necessary.

Trapped particles in the filter can build up and block air from flowing to cooling

coils and cause an accumulation of frost on the cooling coils.

• On models with Fresh Air Vent Control, push in control to vent closed
position.

• Open the front panel.

• Grasp the filter by the center and pull up and out.

• Wash the filter using liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water. Rinse

filter thoroughly. Gently shake excess water from the filter. Be sure filter is
thoroughly dry before replacing.

• Or instead of washing, you may vacuum the filter clean.

NOTE= When replacing the air filter after cleaning, make sure the tabs on
the air filter are on the upper part of filter, and placed outward as shown in
the drawing on the left side.

Cabinet Cleaning

• Be sure to unplug the air conditioner to prevent shock or fire hazard. The

cabinet and front may be dusted with an oil-free cloth or washed with a
cloth dampened in a solution of warm water and mild liquid dishwashing
detergent. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry.

• Never use harsh cleaners, wax or polish on the cabinet front.

• Be sure to wring excess water from the cloth before wiping around the

controls. Excess water in or around the controls may cause damage to the
air conditioner.

• Plug in air conditioner.
Winter Storage

If you plan to store the air conditioner during the winter, remove it carefully
from the window according to the installation instructions. Cover it with cloth

or return it to the original carton.

NOTE: Store air conditioner in a dry place in upright position (horizon-

tal with base down).

Energy Saving Ideas

* The capacity of the room air conditioner must fit the room size for efficient

and satisfactory operation.

* Install the room air conditioner on the shady side of your home. Awindow

that faces north is best because it is shaded most of the day.

Do not block inside airflow around air conditioner with blinds, curtains or

furniture; or outside with shrubs, enclosures, or other buildings.

* Close the fireplace damper, floor and wall registers so cool air does not

escape up the chimney and into the duct work.

* Keep blinds and drapes in other windows closed during the sunniest part of

the day.

Clean the air filter as recommended in the section "Care and Cleaning."

* Proper insulation and weather stripping in your home will help keep warm air

out and cool air in.

* External house shading with trees, plants or awnings will help reduce the

air conditioner's work load.

* Operate heat producing appliances such as ranges, washers, dryers and

dishwashers during the coolest part of the day.

Prevenga accidentes

AsegOrese de que ta instalaci6n electrica es adecuada para et modeto que ha elegido.

Esta informaci6n puede encontrarse en ta placa de serie, que esta localizada en et

lateral de la carcasa.
Si et aparato de aire acondicionado va a set instalado en una ventana, probablemente

necesitara limpiar antes ambas caras det cristal. Si ta ventana es de triple rail con un
panel apantaltado, remueva este completamente antes de realizar la instataci6n.

AsegOrese de que el aparato de aire acondicionado ha sido instalado firme y
correctamente de acuerdo a tas instrucciones de montaje provistas con este manual.

Guarde este manual y las instrucciones de montaje para un posible uso en et futuro a
la hora de remover o reinstalar et equipo.

Cuando manipule et aparato de aire acondicionado, tenga cuidado para evitar
producirse cortes con las aletas metalicas afitadas de la parte detantera y trasera.

Informaci6n el_ctrica

Las especificaciones etectricas completas de su nuevo aparato de aire acondicionado
estan expresadas en ta placa de serie. Consulte estas especificaciones cuando chequee
los requisitos electricos.

* AsegQrese de que et aparato de aire acondicionado queda adecuadamente

conectado a tierra. Para minimizar el riesgo de choque etectrico e incendio es
importante una polarizaci6n adecuada. Et cable de corriente esta equipado con
un enchufe polarizado de tres clavijas para protecci6n contra choques electricos.

Su aparato de aire acondicionado debe conectarse a un tomacorrientes
adecuadamente polarizado. Si et tomacorrientes que pretende utitizar no esta
adecuadamente polarizado o protegido por un fusible retardante o cortacorrientes,
consiga que un etectricista cualificado le instale un tomacorrientes adecuado.
No ponga en marcha el aparato de aire acondicionado sin ta cubierta protectora

exterior en su sitio. Esto podria provocar da_os mecanicos en et interior det

aparato.

* No utilice un cable alargador o adaptador de tornacorrientes,

LEA ESTA SECCION ANTES DE INTENTAR PONER EN FUNCIONAMIENTO EL

3. Presione et bot6n RESET. De nuevo percibira un sonido al encajar et bot6n en su
tugar.

4. Et cable de corriente estara en este momento suministrando electricidad a la unidad.
(En algunos productos esto se indica ademas con un pitoto en et enchufe)

ATENCION:

• No use este dispositivo para encender y apagar la unidad.

• AsegQrese siempre de que et bot6n RESET esta presionado antes de operar et
aparato.

• Et cable de alimentaci6n debe set reemplazado si no se puede resetear pulsando et
bot6n RESETEO, o si no puede resetearse en absotuto. Puede obtener un cable

nuevo contactando con Sears en et nQmero 1-800-4-MY-HOME ® .

• Si et cable de alimentaci6n resulta da_ado, NO PODRA ser reparado. DEBE set
reemplazado por uno nuevo proporcionado por Sears en et nQmero

Nota: Las siguientes instrucciones describen el panel de control tactil. Las mismas instrucciones pueden

aplicarse al control remoto.

Para encender o apagar la unidad presione el botbn ENCENDIDO/APAGADO (_) •

Nota: La unidad esta programada para iniciarse en modo frio, con el ventilador
a velocidad alta y una temperatura de 72 ° F.

Para establecer el modo "Cool" (frio), presione el botbn MODE (modo) para seleccionarlo:

Nota: El ventilador comienza en alta velocidad y se va ajustando a velocidades
inferiores segQn vaya siendo necesario para mantener la temperatura de la habitaci6n.

Por ejemplo, si la habitaci6n no se calienta Io suficiente, permanecera a la velocidad
mas baja. Si la temperatura sube rapidamente, por ejemplo al abrir una puerta,

automaticamente cambiara a la maxima velocidad. La velocidad del ventilador se
ira reajustando despues hasta la mas baja segQn la temperatura de la habitaci6n

vaya retornando al valor establecido.

Para operar en modo "

Sblo Ventilador", presione el botbn MODO para seleccionarlo:

Use la funci6n s61o ventilador para circular el aire de la habitaci6n sin acondicionar la

temperatura. Puede usar la velocidad que prefiera para ello y la temperatura real de la

habitaci6n se mostrara en la pantalla.

Para usar el modo "Ahorro de Energia" presione el botbn MODO para seleccionarlo:

una vez que la habitaci6n est6 a la temperatura seleccionada. Despu6s la temperatura

del aire ser_ comprobada durante 20 segundos cada 10 minutos hasta que se eleve por

encima de la selecci6n, momento en el cual el compresor y el ventilador volver_n a

funcionar. El proceso completo se repetir_ entonces.

Para usar la funcibn "Dormir" presione el botbn DORMIR y el testigo LED se iluminar_:

La temperatura seleccionada se incrementar_ en 20 F 30 minutos despu6s de seleccionar
esta funci6n. Se volver_ a incrementar de nuevo otros 20 F pasados otros 30 minutos.
Permanecer_ en este estado durante 7 horas, y despu6s volver_ a la configuraci6n

original.

Para usar la funcibn "Temporizador" presione el botbn TEMPORIZADOR y el testigo LED se iluminar_:

Presione las flechas ARRIBA y ABAJO para seleccionar el tiempo deseado hasta

ene ,ausa oe,a a atoenestemo o.com eso e,moto se

0.5 horas. Si necesita cambiar la temperatura, presione el bot6n MODO y despu6s las

flechas ARRIBA/ABAJO. Despu6s, pasados 5 segundos, la pantalla volver_ a mostrar

la cuenta atr_s. Esta funci6n puede cancelarse en cualquier momento pulsando el
bot6n TEMPORIZADOR. Una vez que la funci6n de temporizador finalice, todos los

24 horas. El control modificar_ el tiempo para la cuenta atr_s en incrementos de 1 6

pasos arriba descritos deber_n repetirse para que vuelva a funcionar asi.
NOTA: El bot6n "Temporizador" funciona tanto si el equipo est_ encendido como si est_
apagado. Cuando est6 encendido, el tiempo seleccionado ser& el tiempo hasta que la
unidad se apague. Cuando est6 apagado, ser_ el tiempo hasta que la unidad se encienda.

Funcibn de comprobacibn del filtro:

Es un recordatorio para limpiar el filtro alojado tras el panel frontal y asi mantener la
unJdadfuncionando eficientemente. AI presionar el bot6n RESETEO DEL FILTRO durante
3 segundos este recordatorio se resetear_ y el LED se apagar_.

Tras 250 horas de funcionamiento, el indicador LED de" Reseteo del Filtro" se encender_.

El sensor remoto le permite transmitir la temperatura de la habitaci6n y la

configuraci6n deseada de frio desde donde usted est6 ubicado hasta el
acondicionador de aire. Este enfriar_ entonces el _rea donde usted se encuentre

hasta el nivel establecido.
Nota: Esta funcionalidad SOLO puede activarse desde el control remoto, y la

unidad debe estar en modo frio.
Para activar la funci6n de sensor remoto, apunte el control remoto hacia la unidad y

presione el bot6n " Inicio del Sensor Remoto" en el control remoto. Despu6s, use
los botones "^ V "del mismo control para configurar la temperatura deseada para
la habitaci6n. (Tenga en cuenta que la temperatura seleccionada s61ose mostrar_

en el acondicionador). El INDICADOR en el panel de control parpadear& para

indicar que ha recibido la serial. El INDICADOR en el control remoto parpadear_
cada vez que envie una serial. Peri6dicamente volver_ a enviar esta serial hasta
que la funci6n sea desactivada presionando el bot6n "Detener" en el control

remoto. Si la unidad no recibe serial del sensor remoto durante un intervalo de 200
segundos, 6sta emitir_ un pitido para indicar que el modo de sensor remoto se ha

desactivado. La pantalla en el control remoto indica SOLO la temperatura en
el mismo.

NOTA: La funci6n de sensor remoto finalizar_ tanto si se pulsa el bot6n "Detener"
del control remoto como si se pulsa el bot6n "ENCENDER/APAGAR" enel panel

de control.

INFORMACION ADICIONAL QUE DEBE CONOCER

Ahora que entiende las funciones de b_sicas de funcionamiento, le presentamos m_s capacidades de control con las que
debeda familiarizarse.

* El circuito de fdo tiene un retardo autom_tico de inicio pot 3 minutos si la unidad se apaga y vuelve a encender

r_pidamente. Esto evita el sobrecalentamiento del compresor y el posible salto del diferencial/cortacorrientes.
El ventilador continuar_ funcionando durante este tiempo.

* Existe un retardo de 2 segundos antes del apagado del compresor cuando se selecciona el modo SOLO VENTILADOR.

Esto cubre el posible caso de que s61o se haya seleccionado de paso hacia otro modo.

* El control mantendr_ la temperatura seleccionada en un tango de 2 grados Fahrenheit, entre 60° F y 90° F.
* El panel control es capaz de mostrar la informaci6n de temperatura en grados Fahrenheit o Celsius. Para cambiar de

una medida a otra, mantenga presionados los botones de las flechas Arriba (A) y Abajo (v) simult_neamente

durante 3 segundos.

1. Pulsado hacia dentro (Fig.l) - Recicla el aire de la habitaci6n.

2. Parcialmente hacia fuera (Fig.2) - Introduce aire fresco en la habitaci6n.

3. Totalmente hacia fuera (Fig.3) - Saca el aire de la habitaci6n e introduce
aire fresco.

Palas de direccionamiento del aire
Las palas de direccionamiento del aire controlan la direcci6n del flujo de aire.

Su acondicionador tiene el sistema direccional de 8 vias descrito a continuaci6n.
Las palas permiten dirigir el flujo de aire a la habitaci6n hacia arriba o abajo y

hacia la izquierda o la derecha segOn sea necesario. Gire las ruedecillas
hasta conseguir la direcci6n deseada hacia la izquierda o la derecha. Pivote
las palas horizontales con los dedos hasta conseguir la direcci6n deseada
hacia arriba o abajo. Puede configurar un total de 8 orientaciones diferentes
para el flujo de aire con este sistema.

Limpie de tanto en tanto su aparato de aire acondicionado de forma que se
mantenga como nuevo. Aseg_rese de desconectar el equipo de la
corriente antes de limpiarlo para evitar incendios y choques el@ctricos.

Limpieza dei filtro de aire
El filtro de aire debe set revisado al menos una vez al mes por si acaso es

necesario limpiarlo.
Las parficulas atrapadas en el filtro pueden apilarse y bloquear el flujo normal
del aire en el circuito refrigerante, causando una acumulaci6n de escarcha en

el mismo.

• En los modelos con control de respiradero, mantenga 6ste presionado en
la posici6n de respiradero cerrado.

• Abra el panel frontal.

• Sujete el filtro por el centro y tire de 61hacia arriba y hacia fuera.

• Lave el filtro usando jab6n liquido y agua tibia. Acl_relo minuciosamente.

Sacuda con cuidado el exceso de agua del filtro. AsegOrese de que el filtro
est_ completamente seco antes de volverlo a colocar.

• Como alternativa a lavarlo, puede limpiar el filtro con una aspiradora.

Limpieza de la carcasa

• Aseg_rese de desconectar et equipo de ta corriente antes de limpiarto para

evitar incendios y choques et6ctricos. La carcasa y et frontal pueden
sacudirse con un patio sin aceites o lavarse con un patio humedecido en una
sotuci6n de agua tibia yjab6n liquido suave. Aclare cuidadosamente y seque.

• Nunca utilice limpiadores duros, ni cera o pulidores en et frontal de la carcasa.

• AsegQrese de escurrir el exceso de agua del patio antes de limpiar

alrededor de los controles. El exceso de agua en los controles o su

alrededor puede causar dafios al aparato.

• Conecte el aparato de aire acondicionado a la corriente.
Almacenamiento en invierno

Si tiene pensado guardar el acondicionador de aire durante el invierno,
quitelo con cuidado de la ventana de acuerdo a las instrucciones de

instalaci6n. CQbralo con una tela o devu61valo a su embalaje original.

NOTA: AImacene el acondicionador de aire en un lugar seco yen la
posici6n normal hacia arriba (horizontal con la base hacia abajo).

La capacidad del aparato de aire acondicionado debe ser adecuada para la
estancia para conseguir una operaci6n eficiente y satisfactoria.

Instale el aparato de aire acondicionado en el lado de su casa donde no
pegue el sol. Una ventana que encare al norte es mejor ya que queda a la
sombra la mayor parte del dia.
No bloquee el flujo interior de aire alrededor del acondicionador con persianas,

cortinas o muebles; ni en el exterior con setos, cercas ni otros edificios.
Cierre la compuerta de la chimenea, asi como las rejillas de ventilaci6n de

suelos y paredes de modo que el aire fdo no se escape por los conductos
de ventilaci6n ni por la chimenea.

Mantenga las cortinas y persianas de las demos ventanas cerradas durante
la hora m_s soleada del dia.

Limpie el filtro del aire como se recomienda en la secci6n "Cuidados y
limpieza".

Un aislamiento adecuado y burletes en puertas y ventanas de su hogar
ayudar_n a mantener el aire c_lido fuera y el fdo dentro.

Tenet la casa a la sombra de _rboles, plantas o toldos contribuye a reducir

la carga de trabajo del aparato de aire acondicionado.
Use los aparatos el6ctricos que produzcan calor tales como estufas,

lavaplatos, secadoras y lavadoras durante la hora m_s fresca del dia.
