Kenall LINK900G1 User Manual

KENALL – INSTALLATION USAGE GUIDE FOR RADIO MODULE: L-3805
DESCRIPTION: Kenall 900 MHz radio module. FCC ID: 2AKC7-LINK900G1
VERSION 1.1 DATE: 2 December 2016
This document covers the installation and operation of the Kenall L-3805 900 MHz radio module for use in a
TekLink TL 2000 lighting control system.
INSTALLATION AND OPERATION:
The Kenall radio module will be factory installed in the TekLink luminaires control module for use in a TekLink
TL2000 lighting control system. The radio module will be installed in either a Bridge controller that serves as
When commissioned into service, these radio modules will communicate with data packets in a mesh network
configuration. Kenall also plans to use this radio module in future LED lighting control system products.
For the Bridge controller the Linx quarter-wave antenna will be used with a cable having a u.FL connector for
the radio module and a reverse SMA connector for the Linx antenna. The antenna gain is +1.8dBi.
For Luminaires, the PCB antenna will be used. The interconnect cable will have a u.FL connector on each end.
The PCB antenna gain is +1.8dBi.
Radio modules will be installed by Kenall at the factory – the end user will not be responsible for installation of
the radio modules.
Power is supplied to the Kenall radio module by the host device (Bridge or luminaire controller). Supply
voltage for the radio module is 3.3 VDC at 500 mA maximum current. The Bridge or luminaire controller is
powered by the AC mains.
In order to comply with FCC RF Exposure requirements, this device must be installed such that a minimum
separation distance of 20cm is maintained between its antenna and all persons during normal operation.
Luminaires and the Bridge controller are typically mounted overhead and away from nearby persons. This
should limit their exposure to the RF signals transmitted by the radio module.
It is recommended that the TekLink controller with radio module not be powered on when the Luminaire is
disassembled for servicing. The radio module will not transmit until the TekLink system is commissioned by
Kenall field installation teams.
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by Kenall will void the user's authority to install and operate
the TekLink TL2000 equipment that incorporates this radio module.
FCC NOTICE: This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two
conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any
interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation.
