The effective operating range of the remot e controller is about 23 feet
(7 meters), and 30° off axis left or right f rom the remote receptor on

• Ensure that polarities are correct when inserting batteries.
• Do not subject the batteries to heat or fire. Do not disassemble or

Connect a TV antenna or CATV cable to the 75Ω antenna jack on the back of the DVD-2T. Be sure to
unplug all connections to t he power source before making any other connections.
Setting t he DVD-2T for Ai r or Cable Channel Reception:
For regular ant enna use, the TV Mode should be set to “AIR” (Channels 2~69). For CATV use, t he TV
Mode should be set to “CABLE” (Channels 1~125).
Procedure:
1. Press the SETUP button on the DVD-2T Remote Controller to call up the SETUP
menu.
2. Pre ss t h e X arrow button to select the VIDEO submenu.
3. Press the ENTER button to display the VIDEO submenu.
4. Pre ss t h e ARROW button twice t o select TV MODE.
5. If the desired mode (AIR or CABLE) is already correct, press the SETUP button to exit the menu
scre en s.
6. If the desired mode (AIR or CABLE) is not selected, press the ENTER button and t hen press the /

7. Press the ENTER button and then press the SETUP button to exit the menu screens.

1. To play a disc, turn on the TV or monitor and select the video input source to which the DVD-2 is
connected (e. g . VIDEO 1, 2 or 3. )

3. If desired, go to the SETUP menu and set the playback picture size based on t he aspect ratio of the

Press the DVD-2’s POWE R button. If power is off, insert ing a disc will automatically turn power on.
“Loa ding” will be displ ayed on the screen. If no disc is in th e pl ayer, “L oad ing ” wil l be fol lowe d by "No Disc".

The DVD-2 SETUP menus allow you to set t he default (or initia l) conditions for the DVD Player. Many of
these initial settings can be overridden for each disc that you view via the selection menus provided on
each individual DVD disc.
General Procedures

The last item in the LANGUAGE menu is “Default”. It is normal ly set to OFF.
To restore ALL DVD-2 Menu settings to their original factory defaults:
1. Use the ARROW buttons to highlight the Default sub-menu.
2. Pre ss t he ENTER bu tto n and t h en p ress the ARROW b utto n to hi gh lig ht “O n”.
3. Press the ENTER button.
4. All factory def aults will be restored and the Setup me n u will be cleared fr om t he screen.
Note:
The Setup Menu selections set the de fault (or initial) operating conditions for the DVD Player.
Most of these settings can be overridden for each DVD disc you view via the selection menus provided on

conventional 4:3 screen without letterboxing, some portion of the lef t or right side (or a
combination of both sides) of the origina l widescreen movie will be cut of f.

displayed. However, there will be black bands at the top and bottom of the screen. Note
that non-letterboxed movies will st ill fill the entire screen.

This unit is preset to NTSC at the fact ory.
Do not change this setti ng unless you will be using
the DVD-2 in a country that uses the PAL System.
An incorrect setting will result in a very poor black &

Page 17 in the CONNECTIONS section of this manual for further information.

that is connected to the Digital Audio Output of the DVD-2.

Procedure:
1. Press SETUP to call up the Setup menu.

Parents may set a Password to prevent playback of any DVD discs whose "Rating" they deem unsuitable
for viewing.
Note: In addition to the Parent al Control Rating Block provided by this player, some DVD discs also
provide a menu cho ice t ha t a llo ws pa rents to r estrict a ccess to specifi c scene s which t h ey may beli eve a re
unsuitable for viewing by children.
The DVD-2 is equipped with a password feature. It is designed to prevent children from changing the rating
level set by their parents. Follow the 2 steps below to set t he Rating L evel & Password:
Step 1: Selecting Rating Level (DVD Only)
Press SETUP to call up the Setup menu. Press the X ARROW button t o highlight RATI NG and press
ENTE R to call up th e Rat i ng sub- menu. Press the ARROW bu tto n t o hi ghlig ht RATING.
Press the ENTER button repeatedly to cycle through and select the highest rating you do not wish to block
fr om t he 8 avai lable choices:
1. Kid Safe

4. PG 13

When the desired Rat ing Level is displayed, press the ARROW to set the PASSWORD: " – – – –" will be
high light ed.
Step 2: Setting the password
You must enter a password in order to turn on the parental control feature.

As you ent er each dig it, an ast erisk will appear. When you have entered all 4 digits, press ENTER and the
passwor d will be set .
The “Lock” logo will change f rom opened t o closed indicat ing t hat the parent al cont rol lock is turned on.
The playback of any DVD with a rating higher than your select ion will now be blocked as indicated by a
PASSWORD prompt on the screen. The movie will not play unless the password is entered or blocking is
turned off at the set up screen.
To cancel the password, go to the RATI NG setup screen, enter the PASSWORD and press the ENTER
butt on. The l ock logo will change to unlocked and blo cking will be t urned off .

The TITLE butt on will have no effect if there are no tit les on the disc.

DVD DISC MENUS
Many DV D discs have unique menu struct ures called DVD Menus. These menus may take many forms.
For example, DVD's pro gra m med with complex conte nts provid e guid e menu s and t hose recor ded with
soundtracks in several different languages provide menus for audio and subtitle language. Although the
con tents and operatio n of DVD Menus will vary greatly from disc to disc, gene ral instructions on how to use
them follow.
Please note that the exact details of operation will depend on how a particular disc was manufactured. Also

The A–B Button – Repeat Pl ay Of A Selection Between 2 Specific Poi nts

NOTES
• Repeat Play only works with discs for which the elapsed time appears on the DVD-2 display window.

• Some subt itles recorded close to the selected A & B points may fail to appear on the screen.
The ZOOM Butto n – Magnifying The Screen
1. Press the ZOOM button when the disc is in Play or Pause mode.
A magnifying glass icon and the screen ratio will be displayed on the screen.
2. Press the ZOOM button repeatedly to enlarge the screen in the sequence: 4/3X – 3/2X – 2X – Off.
3. The ARROW buttons may be used to move to different sections of the magnified screen.
NOTES
• Some discs may not respond t o the Zoom feature.
• Zoom will not operate when DVD disc menus are displayed.
The ANGLE Button – Vi ewing Scenes From Differing Angles
Some DVD discs cont ain scenes which have been filmed simultaneously from a number of different angles.
The angles that can be viewed are dependent on the particular disc used.
Even if a DV D ha s be en record ed wit h t his fea t ur e; it is oft en o nly a vaila bl e f or selected scenes.
1. Press the ANGLE button during playback. A camera icon will be displayed on the screen along with a
fraction indicating the current angle being viewed and the total number of available angles.

•The angle indicator will appear on the DVD-2’s front panel display whenever scenes recorded at
different angles are playing to indicate that angle switching is available.
•The Angle button may also be used to rotate a JPEG file on the screen. Each t ime the button is
pressed, the JPEG picture will rotate 90 degrees.

If “PLAYBACK CONTROL” is writ te n on a VCD or Audio CD case, you will be able to select and view

The GOTO Button – Locating A Specific Point On The Disc

To locate a specific point by title or chapter:

wish to advance t o a chapter in the current title, it is only necessary to enter the chapter number.

Viewing JPEG Files
1. Insert the disc containing JPEG files. Make sure that the disc's label is facing up.
2. The DVD-2 f ront panel wil l fl ash “LOAD”. Aft er some t ime (dep endi ng on t he number an d size of JPEG
files on the disc), the number of JPEG f ile s f ound will be displayed.
The Slide show will begin automatically at the first picture. Each picture will be displayed f or 10
seconds.
3. Press the PAUSE button t o stop the slideshow. Press the PLAY button to resume.

• A slide show can consist of up to 999 pictures.
• JPG/JPEG fi les are the only pi cture files that will be recognized.
• JPEG filenames may not use the following symbols: ( \ / : * ! " < > | )
• Some JPEG files and/or discs may not be recognized by the DVD-2 depending on the recording
conditions.
If a disc has both MP3/WMA files and JPEG file, the DVD-2 will play t he audio files first.

Is the remote controller point ed at the remote sensor, or is it too f ar
from the remote sensor or is there an obstacle in the path of the

Has the environment around the DVD player or disc changed from
cold to warm? This is a common occurrence in mobile or out door
installatio ns – especially in the morning. DEW (condensation) may
have formed on th e disc or in th e pla yer. The bu ilt -in DEW
prote ct ion f unction will activat e and eject the disc. Leave power to
the DVD pl ayer ON f or 1 ~2 hours so th at h eat h as a cha nce t o
evaporate the moisture. After moisture disappears, the disc can be
played.
Is a disc inser ted up side down? (Disc label should be facing up).
Is the voltage supply adequate?
Does the disc Region Code mat ch the DVD player Region Code?
Some initial settings may operate differently depending on the way a
DVD disc was recorded.
Various DVD discs are recorded and manufactured with dif fering
aspe ct ra t io s (e.g. 16:9 or 2.35:1 Wide Screen, 4:3 Movie, 4:3 Pan & Scan , etc.)

The Tri-Mode Remote Controller is packaged with most KEC LCD Systems. In addition to full remote
control of the LCD System, it also provides basic remote control commands for our DVD and Videocassette
Player s.
To control the DVD-2 with the RC9799,
press the DVD MODE button.
To change to VCP control, press the VCP
MODE button.

If you are installing the DVD-2 along with one of our TV’s or mon itors an d one of our VCP’s:
1. Connect an R-Link cable from the KEC TV/Monit or to the DVD-2’s R-Link Input
2. Connect an R-Link cable from the DVD-2’s R-Link Output t o t h e R-Lin k jack on the rear pan el of
the KEC VCP.
All KEC compo ne nt s may now be remot e contr ol led by point in g any of t he KEC remote controllers at the
remot e sensor on any of the KEC components.
Please note that since pairs of KEC Mobile Applications Headrest Monitors are designed to be operated
independently of each other , the y are not equipped with R-Links. Please refer to the installat ion information
accompanying our Headrest Monitor Systems for informat ion on the use of R-Link in conjunction with those
