1. Safety notes
Before installing, commissioning or operating the device, please read these instructions fully and carefully.
CAUTION!
The following points should be noted:
The applicable laws, standards and regulations. The latest technology at the time of installation. The technological rules. The operating instructions. The fact that operating instructions can implement general regulations only
and that these regulations must be taken into account.
Check the device carefully before putting it into operation for
possible damage in transit. In the event of mechanical damage, the device must not be put into operation.
The devices described are designed to be installed by quali ed electricians and
may be installed in electrical operating rooms or enclosed housings only. Any other use or failure to comply with these
instructions for use will void the warranty/guarantee. The devices may be  tted in dry indoor areas only. Do not mount on or against highly  ammable materials.
Operating the device at a nominal current above that speci ed on the rating
plate can cause the current transformer to overheat, causing burns.

2. Function Description
Current transformers in the KBR series are inductive, according to the transformer principle of working, single-ended current transformers. They are used to adapt the primary measured value to the input nominal values of the connected measuring instruments.
Based on the applied measuring principle, these current transformers are suitable for use in AC networks only.
The KBR series is suitable only for assembly on insulated primary conductors.

3. Warnings
CAUTION!
Dangerous electrical voltage can cause electric shock and burns.
Make sure that the information on the rated plate and in the “Technical Data” under point7 correspond to the system operating parameters.
Switch o the system before starting installation work!
CAUTION!
In a non-loaded (open) secondary circuit of the current transformer, high voltages are induced at the secondary terminals. The occurrent voltages are a hazard to persons and risk a ecting the reliability of the current transformer.
An „open operation,“ i.e. operating the current transformer without secondary wiring, must be avoided under all circumstances.

4. Installation
Ensure a safe working environment during  tting, maintenance and installation work.
Interrupt the power supply of the primary conductor and secure it against unintentional restarting.
Open the current transformer and fasten it to the primary conductor with the help of
the  xing clips supplied in the delivery. P1 points to the power source, P2 to the load.
The arrow on the rating plate indicates the direction of energy  ow.
Caution: Do not close the current transformer yet, as high voltages can occur at the
secondary terminals!
Caution: Ensure the cut surfaces of the split core are clean. Avoid hand contact (sweat)!
Connect the secondary cables in the current transformer to the measuring device (am-
meter or meter etc.). Observe the operating instructions for the measuring device.
Check whether the current transformer is  tted properly and the secondary wires are
connected properly.
Close the current transformer – press together until the lock engages.
I f necessary, switch on the power supply of the primary conductor again.

5. Maintenance and inspection
Check whether the secondary cables are  rmly connected to the measuring device.
Check whether the current transformer is closed properly.
Remove coarse dirt from the current transformer housing. Contact with moisture,
especially with the core, must be avoided under all circumstances.
Using the  xing clips

6. Error Recovery
e.g. unexpected or wrong values, reverse performance
Check the settings of the measuring device according to its instruction manual.
C heck whether the current transformer is mounted on the intended conductor in the
direction of the energy  ow.
Check whether the current transformer is closed properly.
Check the power requirements of the cables and measuring devices connected to the
current transformer. This must not exceed the rated power of the current transformer. (See rating plate.)
Should the aforementioned points not solve the problem: Check for dust or other
contamination between both parts of the core. If so, gently clean the surfaces with a lint-free cloth. Avoid hand contact (sweat)!

8. Product information
Our customers trust the world-renowned quality of our products.
Current transformers are produced with closed and split cores. These undergo multiple tests during the production process to ensure all quality requirements.
The split design of the KBR product group means that these converters are more sensitive to external in uences than current transformers with a closed core.
In addition to environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity, as well as mechanical stress, other factors such as soiling, corrosion and damage to the cut surfaces can a ect the accuracy of the transducer.
KBR GmbH has no in uence on these factors.
Any measuring accuracy deviations caused by these in uences, especially in the longterm measuring behavior, cannot be completely ruled out.
However, the total errors occurring as a consequence of the above in uences is generally always within the applicable tra c error limits.
(The applicable tra c error limits cannot exceed twice the standard error value.)
