2. Using the Kanguru SonicSTOR
Connecting the drive:
Please note: Connecting both USB 2.0 and SATA simultaneously, the SATA port will have priority over the USB 2.0 port.
1. If your computer is not turned on, please do so at this time and wait for your operating system to load.
2. Connect the included AC power supply and USB or eSATA cable to the Kanguru SonicSTOR, power the drive on and plug it into any available USB or eSATA port on your computer.
3. Windows 98 Users ONLY: Your operating system will ask you to locate the drivers for this device. They are located on the mini CD included with your drive. To install these driver files, simply direct Windows 98 to that folder or select to search your CD-Rom drive for these files. The installation wizard should select these driver files automatically and complete the installation. A reboot is required for Windows 98 to recognize the drive after the installation is complete.
4. Check to make sure the drive is recognized by your system. Under “My Computer” you should find a new “Local Disk” drive as seen below.
Please Note: The assigned drive letter may vary from computer to computer.
5. Once the computer has detected the drive, you can begin transferring data to the drive.
Please Note: When the drive is connected via SATA, the drive access light will not blink when data is being transferred.
Removing the tray:
Please note: It is not necessary to unplug the drive from the computer to swap drive trays.
1. To remove the tray from the aluminum housing, insert the included key in the lock hole to unlock the handle.

Page 8
2. Pull the handle towards you to remove the tray.
Disconnecting the Drive:
DO NOT remove the drive during data transfer. If the LED is flashing, then the drive is still transferring data.
Windows ME/2000/XP users: Click on the green Remove Hardware icon on the right side of the taskbar and select the Kanguru SonicSTOR to safely remove the drive.
NOTE: If you do not properly remove the drive from your system, then you may
have to reboot your computer in order for the drive to be recognized again.
Windows 98SE users: Windows 98SE does not have a safe hardware removal utility, so you can simply unplug the drive from the USB port to remove it from the operating system.
Troubleshooting:
1. My computer is not detecting the drive, what should I do?
First, check to make sure that drive is powered on; the connections are tight on both the drive and the computer. Try rebooting the computer and trying it on a different computer if one is available. If you are still having problems, please contact our Technical Support department at 508-3764245 x2.
2. Is it safe to remove the Kanguru SonicSTOR when data is being transferred to it?
No, removing the drive while a data transfer is taking place may result in loss of data or damage to the Kanguru SonicSTOR.
3. When transferring files that are larger than 4GB I get an error saying the drive is full but I have enough space available, what should I do?
The Kanguru SonicSTOR is preformatted to FAT32, which has a file size limitation of 4GB. In order to copy files larger than 4GB to the drive you will have to reformat the drive to NTFS.
