2. Using the Mini Drive
Connecting the drive:
Please note: Windows 98 is the only operating system that requires you to install drivers before connecting USB flash drives. All other supported operating systems already have the drivers built in to support USB flash drives.
1. If your computer is not turned on, please do so at this time and wait for your operating systems to load.
2. Remove the cap from your Kanguru Mini drive and plug it into any USB port on your computer.
3. Windows 98 Users ONLY: You operating system will ask you to locate the drivers for this device. They are located in the Drivers folder under the Kanguru Mini Drive folder on the mini CD included with your drive. To install these driver files, simply direct Windows 98 to that folder or select to search your CD-Rom drive for these files. The installation wizard should select these driver files automatically and complete the installation. A reboot is required for Windows 98 to recognize the drive after the installation is complete.
NOTE: You can use the provided USB extension cable if your USB ports
are in an inconvenient location.

4. The LED on the Mini Drive should light up red to indicate a powered connection. Check to make sure the drive is recognized by your system.
PC users: A removable drive icon will appear in My Computer. Mac users: A disk drive icon will appear on the desktop.
If the drive does not appear on your system, please contact Kanguru Solutions’ Technical Support for troubleshooting.
5. The Kanguru Mini Drive operates just as any other removable drive would on your operating system. To begin using the drive, double click on the drive icon to view the drive contents. While the drive is in use, the LED indicates the drive is transferring data.
CAUTION! Do not remove the Kanguru Mini Drive during data transfer or
data loss may occur. See the section below for proper removal instructions.
Disconnecting the Drive:
DO NOT remove the drive during data transfer. If the LED is Red, then the drive is still transferring data.
Mac users: Drag the Mini Drive icon to the trash before removing the drive from the system.
Windows Me/2000/XP users: Click on the green Remove Hardware icon on the right side of the taskbar and select the Kanguru Mini Drive to safely remove the drive.
NOTE: If you do not properly remove the drive from your system, then you may
have to reboot your computer in order for the drive to be recognized again.
Windows 98SE users: Windows 98SE does not have a drive removal utility, so you can simply pull the drive out of the USB port to remove is from the operating system.

Formatting the Drive:
The Kanguru Mini Drive is formatted as FAT by default. You can format the drive as FAT, FAT32, Mac OS Extended, or Mac OS Standard. To format the Mini drive, use the system format utilities on PC or Mac.
IF YOU ARE ONLY USING THE DRIVE ON A MAC OS THEN FORMAT THE DRIVE AS MAC OS EXTENDED TO ACHIEVE THE BEST TRANSFER RATES!
NOTE: Formatting the drive will erase all data currently on the drive. Save any
information you want to keep from the drive to your computer’s hard drive before formatting. If you plan to use the drive on both PC’s and Mac’s then you must use the FAT or FAT32 file system as a PC will not recognize a Mac OS Extended file system.
General Guidelines:
Please review the following guidelines to ensure optimal and reliable performance for your Kanguru Mini Drive drive.
In order to reach the full USB2.0 transfer speeds your computer must
have USB2.0 ports. Otherwise, you will only reach USB1.1 transfer speeds for this device.
You CAN connect or disconnect the drive while the computer is on.
You CAN use multiple Kanguru Mini Drives on the same computer.
You CAN use the included docking station to provide an easy-to-reach
connection for your drive.
Do NOT remove the drive during data transfer.
A Mac OS formatted drive will not work with PCs.
