book for future use.
At Kambrook, we believe that safe performance is the first priority in any consumer product, so that you, our valued customer can confidently use and trust our products. We ask that any electrical appliance that you use be operated in a sensible fashion with due care and attention placed on the following important operating instructions.
Important Safeguards For Your Kambrook Steamline Detach Steam Iron
• Carefully read all instructions before operating the iron for the first time and save for future reference.
• Remove and safely discard any packaging material and promotional labels before using the iron for the first time.
• To eliminate a choking hazard for young children, remove and safely discard the protective cover fitted to the power plug of this iron.
• When unpacking the iron, check to see you have received all the items listed in the parts list, before discarding the packaging.
• Always ensure the iron is properly assembled before use. Follow the instructions provided in this book.
• Do not touch hot surfaces. High temperatures are generated during use, which could cause burns. Always use the handle and warn others (especially children) of the possible dangers of burns from steam, hot water or hot soleplate, especially when ironing vertically.
• Do not use outdoors or in bathrooms.
• Always test the iron on a small discreet part of the fabric to be ironed to ensure the iron has reached its optimum temperature.
• Never use the vertical steam shot while clothes are on the body or direct the steam towards people.
• Do not place the iron near the edge of a bench or table during operation. Ensure that the surface is level, clean and free of water and other substances.
• Do not operate the iron on a sink drain board.
• Auto-off safety protection is designed as a safety feature only. The iron should not be left on deliberately while unattended. If the safety auto-off has activated and no further ironing is required, we recommended that the iron is switched off at the power outlet and unplugged.
• Do not allow the cord to touch hot surfaces.
• The iron must be used and rested on a stable surface.
4
Page 6
• Always set the temperature control dial to MIN, switch the iron off and remove the plug from the power outlet when filling the water tank. Do not touch the hot surface of the soleplate or the skirt area above the soleplate at any time; especially when the water tank is not attached.
• Only push the self-clean lever when you want to activate the self-cleaning function. Do not push this lever whilst ironing. Boiling water and steam will drip from the holes on the soleplate during the cleaning process. Due caution and attention should be exercised.
• If the iron is set to a low temperature on the temperature control (i.e. synthetic or silk) and also on any of the steam control settings, there may be leakage from the soleplate. This is due to the iron temperature not being high enough to vaporize the water and create steam. Therefore, ensure that the steam control is always set to correspond with the setting on the temperature control as seen in Table A under ‘Setting the Temperature’ on page 10.
• Always turn the variable temperature control dial to minimum, switch off at the power outlet and then unplug the iron when not in use.
• When placing the iron on its heel, ensure that the surface on which the heel is placed is stable.
• If the iron is not used for an extended period, disconnect the iron from the power outlet.
• Do not use the iron if it has been dropped, if there are visible signs of damage or if it is leaking.
• Always switch the iron off and then unplug from the power outlet:
- Before filling or emptying the water tank.
- Before leaving the iron unattended.
- Before cleaning and maintenance, unless otherwise specified in this booklet.
- Immediately after use.
• The iron incorporates a thermal safety fuse to protect it from overheating. However, the iron should not be left unattended while it is connected to the power outlet. Special care should always be taken when there are children in the home/ vicinity of the iron.
• Allow the iron to cool completely before storing in an upright position on its heel.
• Do not leave the iron unattended while in use, connected or on an ironing board.
• Store the iron out of reach of children.
• Do not allow the iron to lay flat on the soleplate when stored as residual water may seep through the steam holes, if the tank is not empty.
• Always store the iron in the upright position on its heel.
• Do not store the iron with water in the water tank. Always empty the tank after use.
• Ensure the iron is cool before storing or wrapping the cord around the storage heel facility.
• To prevent damage to the iron do not use alkaline cleaning agents when cleaning, uses a soft cloth and mild detergent.
• Regularly inspect the supply cord, plug and actual appliance for any damage. If damage is found in any way, or the iron has been dropped, immediately cease use of the appliance and return the entire appliance to your nearest authorized Kambrook Service Centre for examination, replacement or repair.

Using Your Kambrook Iron
Before First Use
Remove any promotional material or packaging from the iron. Remove any stickers or protective covers from the soleplate.
Ensure that the iron is fully assembled and the water tank is securely attached to the iron body before operating.
When operating the iron for the first time, test on an old piece of fabric to ensure that the soleplate and water tank are completely clean.
During the first use, some vapour may emit. This vapour is due to the initial heating of the materials used in the iron. This vapour will not harm the performance of the iron and is safe.
NOTE: As an impor tant p art of the Kambrook q uali ty contro l proce ss, yo ur iron has be en individually teste d. As a res ult, there m ay be a small a moun t of condensa tion or wate r drop lets on the i nside of th e water tank. There i s no nee d for co ncern.
Filling the Water Tank
The Steamline Detach iron should not be operated without the water tank securely in place and water in the water tank. Ensure that the iron is switched off and disconnected from the power outlet before filling the water tank.
The Steamline Detach iron is designed to be used with tap water. The hardness of tap water can vary in different regions; water testing kits can be purchased online or at water filtration specialists to determine the hardness of your tap water.
If your tap water is particularly hard, it is recommended that distilled or demineralised water be used with this iron. Not doing so can lead to in a build-up of impurities in the iron resulting in a loss of steaming power.
The unique feature of the Kambrook Steamline Detach Iron is the fully detachable water tank for filling right at the tap.
Before detaching the water tank, ensure that the steam control switch is set to NO STEAM.
To remove the water tank, hold the iron handle securely in your right hand with your thumb resting on the tank release button (See Fig.1).
Fig. 1
Meanwhile, place your left hand, with your fingers resting on the indentations, on both sides of the front of the iron (See Fig. 2).

Once fully removed, open the water tank inlet cover and pour water into the water inlet. Be careful not to exceed the ‘MAX’ level (180ml) marked on the water tank. (See Fig 4).
Setting the Temperature
Before commencing ironing, sort all items to be iron according to the International Textile Care Labelling Code (see Table A) or by the type of fabric. Most items of laundry have markings corresponding with this code.
Iron delicate fabrics that require the lowest temperatures first followed by harder fabrics that require higher temperatures.
Place the iron on its heel and turn the temperature control dial to MIN.
Plug the power cord into a 230V or 240V power outlet and turn on. The power indicator light will illuminate, indicating the iron is on.
Select the temperature setting required by rotating the temperature control dial so that the desired setting is aligned with the notch under the handle. Wait for two to five minutes for the iron to reach the selected temperature.
CAUTION: Do not touch any hot s urfa ces!

Operating the Steam Control
Refer to the Variable Steam Control column of the International Textile Care Labelling Code (Table A.) for the level of steam advised for various fabric types. As indicated, steam ironing is only possible at higher temperature settings.
Adjust the amount of steam required using the steam control switch. To operate the variable steam control, ensure there is sufficient water in the water tank and the tank is properly attached to the iron body. Plug the power plug into a 230V or 240V power outlet and switch the power on. With the iron positioned on its heel, select the desired temperature setting within the steam range and allow the iron to heat for two to five minutes.
Once heated, select the desired steam level. When positioned to the left, the steam control is set to the no steam/ dry ironing option. When positioned in the centre of the switch, the iron is set to maximum steam output (See Fig 5). Set the steam control switch to the required setting. The iron is now ready to commence ironing.
Fig. 5
If more water is required while ironing, simply detach the water tank and stand the iron on its heel. Fill up the water tank as per the instructions under ‘Filling the Water Tank’ and reattach the water tank to the iron body.
Once the water tank has been removed, do not leave the iron face down on any fabric or on the ironing board, always rest the iron on its heel.
Operating the Shot of Steam
The shot of steam function provides an extra burst of steam when ironing heavier fabrics and removing stubborn creases. The shot of steam function can be used at all steam levels as long as the iron has reached the selected temperature for steaming.
Hold the iron horizontally and slightly above the fabric surface, firmly press and release the shot of steam button. The steam will penetrate the fabric and assist in the removal of wrinkles.
Alternatively, hold the iron vertically and slightly away from the hanging fabric, firmly press and release the shot of steam button. Vertically steaming is useful for getting wrinkles out of hanging garments or curtains when the fabric is not supposed to come into direct contact with the iron soleplate.
CAUTION: Never us e the vertical s hot of s team while clot hes are on the body or direc t the s team towards peop le.
11
Page 13
Using Your Kambrook Iron continued...
NOTE: For optimal steam power,
leave an interval of 4 seco nds between pre ssing th e shot o f steam button.
Using the Fine Mist Spray
The fine mist spray can be used to dampen difficult to iron fabrics, dry areas, woollen items and accidental creases.
Position the iron on the fabric, pointing the iron tip towards the desired area. Firmly press the fine misting spray button and a fine spray of water will be produced from the spray nozzle at the front of the iron.
Anti-Drip System
The Steamline Detach also features an anti-drip system. The iron will automatically close the steam valve when the soleplate temperature is too low to produce steam. This prevents water from the water tank escaping through the soleplate. The steam valve will open again once the soleplate reaches the required temperature.
CAUTION: The iro n incorporates a thermal safety fu se to pro tect t he iron from overh eating. However, th e iron s houl d not be left unat tended while it is co nnected to the powe r outlet. Speci al care should always be taken wh en there are chil dren in the vi cini ty of the iro n.
12
Safety Auto-Off
The Steamline Detach features 3 way auto-off safety protection. This feature is designed to automatically switch the iron off if it is left unattended with no movement for a specified period of time.
When the iron is left in a horizontal position, resting face down on the soleplate, or if it is accidentally tipped onto its side, the auto-off feature will activate after 30 seconds.
When the iron is left in a vertical position, resting on its heel, the auto-off feature will activate after 8 minutes.
When the auto-off feature activates, the auto-off indicator light will begin to flash and the iron will emit six beeps. The auto-off indicator light will continue to flash until the iron is moved or until it is switched off and unplugged from the power outlet.
To reactivate the iron, simply move it until the auto-off light stops flashing and remains illuminated. Allow two to five minutes for the iron to reach the selected temperature again.
CAUTION: The sa fety auto -off is designed as a safety fea ture o nly. The iro n shou ld not deliberately be left on while unattended. If the sa fety auto -off has activated a nd no fu rth er ironi ng is re quired, th e iron should be switched off an d unplugg ed from the powe r outlet.
CAUTION: Always t urn the temperature control dial to MIN, sw itch off an d unpl ug the i ron fro m the power ou tlet when not in use.
Page 14
After Each Use
Once all ironing has been completed, set the steam control switch to NO STEAM, set the temperature control dial to MIN and place the iron on its heel.
Switch the power off and disconnect from the power outlet. Remove the water tank from the iron, open the water tank inlet cover and (over a sink or bucket) invert the iron to empty any remaining water from the tank. Reattach the water tank and allow the iron to cool before storing.
CAUTION: Do not store th e iron wi th wat er in the wate r tank. A lways e mpt y the tank after use. En sure the iron is cool be fore s toring or wrap ping t he cor d.
