Kambrook Recommends Safety First

At Kambrook, we believe that safe performance is the first priority in any consumer product, so that you, our valued customer can confidently use and trust our products. We ask that any electrical appliance that you use be operated in a sensible fashion with due care and attention placed on the following important operating instructions.
Important Safeguards For Your Kambrook Portable Hotplate
• The Hotplate operates at very high temperatures. Extreme caution should be exercised during operation. Do not touch hot surfaces.
• Do not immerse cord, plug or any part of the hotplate in water or any other liquid.
• Always use the hotplate on a dry, level, heat resistant surface.
• Do not let the power cord hang over the edge of a table or counter, or touch hot surfaces or become knotted.
• Do not place this hotplate on or near a hot gas or electric stove, or where it could touch a heated oven.
• Always turn off at the power outlet and then remove plug before attempting to move the hotplate or when not in use or when cleaning or storing.
• Do not use under curtains or near flammable items. Keep clear from walls for good circulation and to prevent heat damage.
• The temperature of accessible surfaces may be high when the appliance is operating. Appliances are not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or separate remote-control system.
WARNING: Always keep in mind that the hotplates, after being switched off, continue to radiate residual heat for a certain period of time.
WARNING: Fully unwind the cord from the cord storage area before use.

Important Safeguards For All Electrical Appliances
• Carefully read all instructions before operating the appliance and save for future reference.
• Remove and safely discard all packaging material and promotional labels before using the appliance for the first time.
• Fully unwind the power cord before use.
• Do not let the power cord hang over the edge
of a bench or table, touch hot surfaces or become knotted.
• To protect against electric shock, do not immerse the power cord, power plug or appliance in water or any other liquid, unless it is recommended in the cleaning instructions.
• The appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance, by a person responsible for their safety.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
• It is recommended to inspect the appliance regularly. Do not use the appliance if the power supply cord, plug, connector or appliance becomes damaged in anyway. Return the entire appliance to the nearest authorised Kambrook Service Centre for examination and/or repair.
• Any maintenance other than cleaning should be performed at an authorised Kambrook Service Centre.
• This appliance is for household use only. Do not use this appliance for other than its intended use. Do not use in moving vehicles or boats. Do not use outdoors. Misuse may cause injury.
• The installation of a residual current device (safety switch) is recommended to provide additional safety protection when using electrical appliances. It is advisable that a safety switch with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30mA be installed in the electrical circuit supplying the appliance. See your electrician for professional advice
• Always turn the appliance to the OFF position, switch off at the power outlet and unplug at the power outlet when the appliance is not in u se.
• Before cleaning, always turn the appliance to the OFF position, switch off at the power outlet, unplug at the power outlet and remove the power cord, if detachable, from the appliance and allow all parts to cool.
• Do not place this appliance on or near a heat source, such as hot plate, oven or heaters.
• Position the appliance at a min imum distance of 20cm away from walls, curtains and other heat or steam sensitive materials and provide adequate space above and on
all sides for air circulation.

Operating Your Portable Hotplate
Using Your Portable Hotplate
1. Place the hotplate on a dry, level, heat resistant surface.
2. Insert the power cord into a 230V or 240V power outlet. Switch on at the power outlet.
3. Place the cooking vessel (ie. saucepan), in which the food will be cooked, on the hotplate. On the double hotplate (model KHP2) use the most appropriate sized hotplate.
4. Select the desired temperature setting using the temperature control dial. The temperature settings are adjustable on a scale of 1 (min) to 4 (max).
5. The red power ‘ON’ indicator light will illuminate to indicate the hotplate is on and heating.
6. To switch the hotplate off, turn the selection knob to the ‘0’ position.
7. Switch off at the power outlet and unplug the power cord.
WARNING: Always keep in mind that the hotplates, after being switched off, continue to radiate residual heat for a certain period of time.
WARNING: To achieve optimum performance, ensure the diameter of the cooking pot or pan is no larger than the diameter of the hotplate.
WARNING: No more than 5 litres of water can be boiled at anytime. It is recommended to use a lid when boiling water.

Care, Cleaning and Storage
Maintaining Your Portable Hotplate
Switch the hotplate ‘OFF’ at the power outlet and then remove the power cord.
Ensure the hotplate has completely cooled down before cleaning.
To clean the hotplate surface, wipe with a damp cloth. A multi-purpose spray cleaner may be used.
If necessary, the exterior of the unit may be wiped with a slightly damp cloth, using a mild detergent.
Do not use abrasives or harsh cleaning solutions to clean the hotplate surface.
The hotplates should be completely cooled down before storing.
