fr provide a convenient way to play music directly from the latest generation of pocket 'USB Memory Stick' type file storage devices. It r formatted in USB1.1 format. Other Portable MP3 Audio Players
DJ3-USB can play MP3 audio files from most MP3 Audio Devices which have a Mode Setting that enables their use as an external storage device. Considering the extremely large range of Personal Audio Devices on the market it is impossible for Kam to provide a definitive list of devices with this feature. However as a broad rule, during testing, most devices with direct USB to computer connection and with a clear manufacturer claim to operate as a 'USB Data Storage Device' in addition to simply claiming to 'Play MP3 Audio' will work with DJ3-USB.
High Capacity USB External Hard Disks
The DJ3-USB has also been tested with a range of High Capacity External Hard Disks. It was found that MP3 audio could be played directly from models that store their data in basic USB1.1 compatible file format. However many such devices use proprietary file management software because they are designed for automated high capacity system backup rather than transportation of a relatively small amount of MP3 audio data, so audio could not be played from them. It should also be noted that the DJ3-USB needs to scan the entire drive before it will play audio, and it can take rather a long time to scan 200GB of data! For these reasons Kam does not claim that the DJ3-USB can play MP3 audio from all large capacity external USB Hard Disk Drives… but you might find that it can from yours.
