RZ12 & RZ15 passive
The connection to your RZ passive speaker is via a speakeron socket. Connect a suitable cable from the output of your amplifier into the input socket on the rear of your RZ passive speaker.
Connecting your speakers to your amplifier
• Always ensure that both volume controls on your amplifier are turned to zero and that its mains power is switched off when making connections.
• Using an appropriate cable (if in doubt refer to the ‘Connection types’ section below) connect the left speaker to channel A and the right speaker to channel B.
• Please read the rest of this manual before turning on the power or adjusting the volume controls.
Connection types
Speakeron - some amplifiers feature a pair of speakeron speaker output sockets. Speakeron is a standard connection type that is only used for connecting speakers to amplifiers. You cannot use Speakeron connections for any other type of audio signal connection.
The Speakeron connections on your RZ speaker are internally wired with a standard +1 / -1 configuration. This means they are designed to be used with two pin Speakon cables. This wiring configuration matches all speakeron equipped Kam speakers.
IMPORTANT - Active speakers
Before connecting active speakers to the mains power supply, ensure that the mains voltage selector (26) is set to the correct voltage supply for your country! Failure to do so will severly damage the unit.
Connections to RZ12A / RZ15A / RZ12A V2 / RZ15A V2
Please note these are active cabinets and require a line level input signal only, NEVER connect directly to an amplifier, as this will severly damage your speakers and or amplifier. If in any doubt contact your retailer for advice before connection.
The RZ range of active speakers can be connected in the following ways:
1. Microphone - you can plug a microphone directly into the rear panel of the speaker, using either the unbalanced ¼ jack socket (1) or the balanced XLR socket (2).
2. Audio source - a CD, Mp3 or line level audio source can be connected directly to the rear panel of the speaker, using the phono/RCA input sockets (4).
3. Mixer - connecting a mixer to the RZ speaker is easy. Use either the RCA (4) or XLR (5) input sockets. Remember if stereo sound is required, you will need a pair of active speakers. The left signal from you audio source will need to go to one speaker and the right signal from your audio source will need to go to the other.
Linking
It is possible to link one active speaker to another.
1. Connect your signal cable to the active speaker using one of the line in sockets (4) or (5).
2. Connect a lead from one of the line out sockets (7) or (8).
3. Connect this lead to the line in socket (4) or (5) of the next active speaker.
Please note you cannot connect a passive speaker to this output.
