Safety Warnings
• A minimum distance of 5 cm around the unit should be maintained to allow for sucient ventilation.
• Do not install or place this unit in a bookcase, built-in cabinet or in another conned space. Ensure the unit is well ventilated.
Safety
• Always disconnect the unit from the mains supply before connecting / disconnecting other devices or moving the unit.
• Unplug the unit from the mains socket during a lightning storm.
• In the interests of safety and to avoid unnecessary energy consumption, never leave the unit switched on while unattended for long periods of time, e.g. overnight, while on holiday or while out of the house. Switch it o and disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket.
Mains Cable
• Make sure the unit or unit stand is not resting on top of the mains cable, as the weight of the unit may damage the mains cable and create a safety hazard.
• If the mains cable is damaged it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualied persons in order to avoid a hazard.
Interference
• Do not place the unit on or near appliances which may cause electromagnetic interference. If you do, it may adversely aect the operating performance of the unit, and cause a distorted picture or sound.
Supervision
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the unit and the remote control.
• Never let anyone especially children push anything into the holes, slots or any other openings in the case - this could result in a fatal electric shock.
• Read all the instructions carefully before using the unit and keep them for future reference.
• Retain the manual. If you pass the unit onto a third party make sure to include this manual.
• Check that the voltage marked on the rating label matches your mains voltage.
Damage
• Please inspect the unit for damage after unpacking.
• Do not continue to operate the unit if you are in any doubt about it working normally, or if it is damaged in any way - switch o, withdraw the mains plug and consult your dealer.
Location of Unit
• The unit must be placed on a at stable surface and should not be subjected to vibrations.
• Do not place the unit on sloped or unstable surfaces as the unit may fall o or tip over.
• The mains socket must be located near the unit and should be easily accessible.
• This unit is designed for indoor, domestic use only.
Temperature
• Avoid extreme degrees of temperature, either hot or cold. Place the unit well away from heat sources such as radiators or gas / electric res.
• Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and other sources of heat.
Naked Flames
• Never place any type of candle or naked ame on the top of or near the unit.
Moisture
• To reduce the risk of re, electric shock or product damage, do not expose this unit to rain, moisture, dripping or splashing. No objects lled with liquids, such as vases, should be placed on the unit.
• If you spill any liquid into the unit, it can cause serious damage. Switch it o at the mains immediately. Withdraw the mains plug and consult your dealer.
Ventilation
• To prevent the risk of electric shock or re hazard due to overheating, ensure that curtains and other materials do not obstruct the ventilation vents.

Service
• To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove screws. The unit does not contain any user-serviceable parts. Please leave all maintenance work to qualied personnel.

Connecting to the Mains

This unit will automatically scan for DAB radio stations when switched on for the rst time. Before connecting the power cable, fully extend the aerial vertically to ensure best reception.
Before using, connect the supplied power cable to the mains cable socket at the rear of the unit and plug in the mains socket. Switch on at the mains socket.
If no signal is received in DAB mode for approximately 15 mins, it will automatically switch to standby mode.

Basic Operating
Switching ON / OFF
Ensure that the plug is switched on at the wall socket.
To turn the unit on, press the
STANDBY button.
To switch the unit to standby press the
STANDBY button
To completely turn o the unit turn o at the mains socket.
If no signal is received in DAB mode for approximately 15 mins, it will automatically switch to standby mode.
Selecting Modes (DAB/FM/AUX)
Press the MODE button to scroll through the modes. DAB - FM - AUXILIARY.
Adjusting the Volume
Turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial clockwise to increase the volume level.
Turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial anti-clockwise to decrease the volume level.
Long-term exposure to loud music may cause hearing damage. It is best to avoid extreme volume when using earphones, especially for extended periods.
Connections
Connecting to the Earphones Socket
1. Connect earphones (3.5mm stereo mini plug) to the earphones socket.
2. Always set the volume level to minimum then slowly increase the volume to obtain the desired volume level.
3. When the earphones are connected, the unit will automatically mute.

Below is a map of the menu structure of your radio to help you see how to navigate through the menus.
1. Press and hold the MENU/INFO button to enter the menu.

Setting the Clock
The clock can only set and be updated if you can receive DAB signals in your location. In order for the clock to synchronise to the current local time you must leave it on one DAB station for a short period of time. Manual clock setting is not required.
Manually Setting the Time and Date
You can manually set the time and date if you wish. Make sure you have set AUTO UPDATE to ‘NO UPDATE’. If you don’t do this your radio will automatically nd the correct time from a radio station and change the time.
Manually Setting the Time
In the menu select SYSTEM - TIME - SET TIME/DATE . Then enter the new time and date using the VOLUME/SELECT dial.
Auto Update
Your radio can be set to automatically update the time from DAB radio or FM radio or you can switch this feature o if you want to manually set the time.
In the menu select SYSTEM - TIME - AUTO UPDATE . Then choose ‘UPDATE FROM DAB, UPDATE FROM FM, NO UPDATE or UPDATE FROM ANY’ using the VOLUME/SELECT dial.
• Changing the Time Format 12/24 Hour Clock
You can set the time format to either a 12 hour clock or a 24 hour clock.
In the menu select SYSTEM - TIME - SET 12/24 HOUR . Then choose either ‘SET 12 HOUR or SET 24 HOUR’ using the VOLUME/SELECT dial.
Changing the Date Format
The way the date is displayed can be changed depending way you prefer. You can choose DD-MM-YYYY or MM-DD-YYYY.
In the menu select SYSTEM - TIME - SET DATE FORMAT . Then choose the date format using the VOLUME/SELECT dial.

Setting the Alarm
Make sure you have preset FM and DAB stations before setting the Alarm.
1. The unit has two alarms. Press the ALARM button to set alarm 1 press again to set alarm 2. The display will show “Alarm # Setup”.
2. Press the VOLUME/SELECT dial, then turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial to adjust the hour digits. Press the VOLUME/SELECT dial to conrm.
3. The minute digits will ash. Turn the VOLUME/ SELECT dial to adjust the minute digits and then press the VOLUME/SELECT dial to conrm.
4. Turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial to select the alarm duration (15/30/45/60/90 minutes). Press the VOLUME/SELECT dial to conrm.
5. Turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial to select the type of alarm (FM/Buzzer/DAB). Press the VOLUME/SELECT dial to conrm.
6. If you have chosen FM or DAB, turn the VOLUME/ SELECT dial to select a preset radio station. Press the VOLUME/SELECT dial to conrm.
7. Turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial to select the day(s) the alarm is set for (weekdays/daily/ once/weekends). Press the VOLUME/SELECT dial to conrm.
8. Turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial to select the alarm wake up volume level. Press the VOLUME/SELECT dial to conrm.
9. Turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial to select alarm on or o. Press the VOLUME/SELECT dial to conrm.
10. When set, the alarm icon and number will appear on the display.
Activating/Deactivating the Alarm Function
1. To activate or deactivate the alarm function, press the ALARM button, then turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial to select Alarm On or Alarm O.
2. Press the VOLUME/SELECT dial to conrm.
Alternatively in standby mode
3. Press the ALARM button repeatedly during standby mode to select Alarm On or O and then press VOLUME/SELECT dial to conrm.
If you have activated the alarm function and the wake-up mode is DAB or FM, make sure that the volume is at a sucient level for you to hear.

Snooze Function
When the alarm has been triggered, press the DIMMER/SNOOZE button to temporarily switch o the alarm. Press DIMMER/SNOOZE button to select a time 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes. (The options of SNOOZE time is depend on the duration setting of the alarm). The display will show “Zz” to indicate that snooze is on and the display will show the minutes remaining before the alarm sounds again.
If one alarm goes o while the other is in snooze mode, snooze mode will be cancelled.
Sleep Function
This function allows you to program the unit to switch o by itself after a set period of time.
1. Press the SLEEP button to activate the Sleep Timer, “Set Sleep Time” shows on the display. Press the SLEEP button repeatedly or turn the VOLUME SELECT dial to adjust the setting. The time (in minutes) will change in the below sequence on every press: Sleep o/10/20/30/60/70/80/90.
2. When your desired sleep time appears in the display, release the button and the sleep function will be activated in ve seconds. “S#” will show on the display (for example “S1” represents “10 minutes” sleep time).
3. When the sleep timer is zero, the unit will go o. To turn the sleep function o while the sleep timer is still counting down, press the SLEEP button repeatedly until, “Sleep O” shows on the display.
4. To see how much sleep time is left press the SLEEP button.

System Reset
There may be times when you need to reset your unit back to the factory settings, especially if you have moved house or if you experience reception problems.
If you move to another part of the country and pick up the local and national DAB stations in that area, your previously tuned channels may no longer be available.
1. Press and hold the MENU/INFO button, then turn the VOLUME SELECT dial until “System” shows on the display.
2. Press the VOLUME SELECT dial, then turn the VOLUME SELECT dial until “Factory Reset” shows on the display.
3. Press the VOLUME SELECT dial, then turn the VOLUME SELECT dial until “Factory Reset? shows on the display. Turn the VOLUME SELECT dial to choose Yes , then press the VOLUME SELECT dial to conrm. After the reset is complete, the unit will go to standby mode.
4. Press the
STANDBY button again to turn the unit on, the unit will then start scanning
for DAB channels immediately.
After the system reset, all the tuned stations, DAB and FM preset stations and alarm settings will be erased.
Display Backlight
There are four backlight levels to choose from.
To set the backlight level, repeatedly press the DIMMER/SNOOZE button and the brightness of the display will change in sequence: Low > Medium > High > O >

Ensure that you fully extend the aerial vertically before switching the unit on. When the unit is connected to the mains power and then switched on from standby for the rst time, or you have just performed a factory reset the unit will automatically enter into the DAB mode and perform auto scan function.
During the scan the display will show “Scanning ...” together with a slide bar that indicates the progress of the scan and the amount of stations that have been found so far.
Once the scan has nished, the unit will select the rst alphanumerically found station.
To explore the found stations, press the VOLUME/SELECT dial and then turn the VOLUME/
SELECT dial. When you nd a station that you would like to listen to, press the VOLUME/SELECT dial.
If no stations are found after auto scan, the unit will then enter into the Tune Select Menu. Turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial and then press the VOLUME/SELECT dial to select manual tune or full scan modes for stations.
DAB Full Scan
The Full scan will search for the entire DAB Band III channels. After the scan has nished, the rst alphanumerically found station will be automatically selected.
Full auto scan will not replace the DAB stations in memory. If you want to remove all the previous scanned stations, system reset is required.
1. To activate Full scan, rst press and hold the MENU/INFO button, then press the VOLUME/SELECT dial to select “Full scan”, the display will show “Scanning …” and a progressing slide bar.
2. All the stations that have been found will be stored automatically, to explore and listening to the found stations, press the VOLUME/SELECT dial and then turn the
VOLUME/SELECT dial. Press the VOLUME/SELECT button to conrm.
Secondary Services
You may see a “<” symbol after the name of the station, this indicates that there are secondary services available to that station. These secondary services contain extra services that are related to the primary station. e.g. a sports station may want to add extra commentaries. The secondary services are inserted directly after the primary station in the station list.
To select the secondary station, press the VOLUME/SELECT button when the “<” appears in the display before the station name. When the secondary service ends, the unit will automatically switch back to the primary station.

Manual Tuning
As well as the auto scan function, you can manually tune the radio. This can help if you know your radio has missed stations. You will need to know which multiplex the missing radio station is in.
1. Press and hold the MENU/INFO button and then turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial to select Manual tune, the display will now show Manual tune. Then press the VOLUME/SELECT dial.
2. Turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial to cycle through the multiplex list, which are numbered from 5A to 13F.
3. After your desired multiplex is selected, press the VOLUME/SELECT dial to enter the current multiplex, the top line will now display the multiplex and below you’ll see the signal strength.
4. You won’t see any new radio stations or hear anything while in manual tune. To nd the newly tuned in stations search through the Station List.
Pruning Radio Stations
If tuned you radio in more than one location (home and work) it will still have stored all the radio stations it found, although some may now be a very poor reception. The prune feature will delete all of the stations that are not available or are very poor reception.
1. Press and hold the MENU/INFO button.
2. Turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial and select PRUNE.
3. Press the VOLUME/SELECT dial.
4. Turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial to select YES.
5. Press the VOLUME/SELECT dial. All stored stations that are poor reception or from another location will now be deleted.

Storing Stations
You can store up to 10 of your favourite DAB stations to the memory. This will enable you to access your favourite stations quickly and easily.
1. To store a preset, you must rst be listening to the station that you would like to save, press and hold the PRESET RECALL/STORE button for 2 seconds. The words “Save to P” will show on the display.
2. Turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial to select your desired preset station number and then press the VOLUME/SELECT dial to conrm.
3. The station will be stored and the screen will then show “Preset # Stored“.
Recalling a Stored Station
1. Once you have saved a station to one of the preset buttons, you can recall it by pressing the PRESET RECALL/STORE button.
2. Turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial to select your desired preset station number.
3. Press the VOLUME/SELECT dial to conrm the selection.
4. If you choose a preset that hasn’t been allocated a station, “Empty“ will be displayed.
• Please note that you have to press and hold the PRESET RECALL/STORE button for 2 seconds. If you see the word “Preset Recall” in the display you didn’t hold the PRESET RECALL/STORE button down for long enough.
• If a radio station has previously been stored you will see “the stored station name or frequency and P#” in the display. Press VOLUME/SELECT and you can save a new station into this preset position.

DAB Display Modes
Every time you press the MENU/INFO button, the lower segment of the display will cycle through the following display modes:
DLS (Dynamic Label Segment)
Dynamic label segment is a scrolling message that the broadcaster may include with their transmissions. The message usually includes information, such as program details etc.
Signal Strength
The display will show a slide bar to indicate the signal strength, the stronger the signal, the longer the bar will be from left to right.
Programme Type
This describes the “Style” or “genre” of music that is being broadcast e.g. “Rock” or “Classical”. If the information is not available, the display will show “<Programme Type>”.
Multiplex Name
A multiplex is a collection of radio stations that are bundled and transmitted on one frequency.
There are national and local multiplexes. Local ones contain stations that are specic to that area.
DAB – unlike normal radio, groups together several radio stations and transmits them on one frequency.
Channel Number/Frequency
The number and frequency of the present station will be displayed.
Signal Error
This shows the quality of the signal reception, with 0 being the best quality reception.
Audio Bit Rate
The display will show the digital audio bit rate being received.
Time
The broadcaster (radio station) provides clock information automatically so there’s no need to manually set this information.
Date
The broadcaster (radio station) provides date information automatically so there’s no need to manually set this information.

FM Operation
Switching from DAB to FM Mode
To switch the unit from DAB to FM mode, press the MODE button once. The display will show FM and the frequency.
Auto Scan
Ensure that you fully extend the aerial vertically before starting the auto scan. To search for an FM station, press and hold the TUNE button to start the auto scan. The display will show “Scanning ...” . Once a station has been found, the scanning will stop automatically.
Manual Scan
To search for FM stations manually, press the TUNE button. The display will show “<Tuning>”. Turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial until your desired frequency is reached.

Audio Mode
The unit will automatically switch between stereo and mono mode, but you can override this and switch this function manually. This is helpful when receiving poor signal reception.
Press and hold the MENU/INFO button, then turn the VOLUME/SELECT dial to select <Audio setting>, then press the VOLUME/SELECT dial to conrm. Turn the VOLUME/
SELECT dial to toggle between the Stereo allowed and Forced mono. Press the VOLUME/ SELECT dial to conrm.
Storing Stations

Scan Settings
You can set your radio to tune in just the strongest stations or all stations.
Audio Settings
If the reception isn’t very good you can set your radio to forced mono which may slightly clean up the crackling sound. The stereo allowed option will allow all stations to be in stereo sound.
• Please note that you have to press and hold the PRESET RECALL/STORE button for 2 seconds. If you see the word “Preset Recall” in the display you didn’t hold the PRESET RECALL/STORE button down for long enough.
• If a radio station has previously been stored you will see “the stored station name or frequency and P#” in the display. Press the VOLUME/SELECT dial and you can save a new station into this preset position.

FM Display Modes
Every time you press the MENU/INFO button, the lower segment of the display will cycle through the following display modes:
Radio Text
As with DAB, the broadcaster can include a scrolling text that displays information about the current program. If Radio text information is not available, then the display will show <No Radio Text>.
Programme Type
This describes the “Style” or “genre” of music that is being broadcast e.g. “Rock” or “Classical”.
Programme Name
This describes the “Style” or “genre” of music that is being broadcast e.g. “Rock” or “Classical”. If the information is not available, the display will show “<Programme Type>”.
Mono/Stereo
This shows whether the current station is broadcasting in stereo or mono.
Time
The broadcaster (Radio station) provides clock information automatically so there’s no need to manually set this information.

Aux Operation

AUX IN
1. Make sure the unit is disconnected at the mains socket.
2. Use a supplied 3.5mm to 3.5mm AUX cable to connect your audio device through the AUX IN socket at the rear of the unit.

5. Select AUX mode by repeatedly pressing the MODE button until ‘Auxiliary Input’ appears on the screen.
4-hour playback
If the unit is in AUX mode more than 4 hours, it will automatically switch to standby mode.
• 10 minutes before entering standby, “Press MENU/INFO to cancel auto o” will show on the display. Press MENU/INFO button to continue cancel auto o function.

If any anomaly is encountered, unplug the mains plug and reconnected again.

To clean the unit, wipe the case with a slightly moist, lint-free cloth.

No Sound Adjust the volume dial, it may not be turned up.
Static Sound Signal reception too low. Adjust the aerial or move the unit
to a stronger signal location.
Sound is distorted Volume is too high. Adjust the volume dial.
Desired station not found Weak signal. Use the Manual Tune function.
The display shows “SERVICE N/A”
No DAB coverage in your area or poor reception. Adjust the position of the aerial.
Poor reception. Adjust the position of the aerial.
The display is blank This may occur if the broadcaster changes the label of a
service or removes a label. The unit will try to retune or perform a scan.
