Electrical components ha ving such featur es are identified
by shading on the schematics and by (!!!!) on the parts list

reco mmen de d replac em en t pa rt sho wn i n the pa rts l i st of
Se rvi c e ma nu al may c aus e shock , f ire, or o ther haz ards.

The chassis and any sub-chassis contained in some products
are c onnect ed to on e si de of th e AC p ower line . An is ol a ti on
tr ansf or m er of ad equ ate cap acity s h ou ld be ins er t ed bet we en
th e p rodu ct and t he AC p ow er su pp l y p oint w hi l e p er forming

an y ser vice on so me pr o ducts wh en th e HOT ch assis i s
exp ose d.

5. Don't short between the LIVE side ground and I SOLATED

(NEUTRAL) side ground or EARTH s ide ground when
repairing.

diff er enc e of t he GND i s sh own by th e LI VE : (") side GND,
th e ISO LATED(N EU TRA L) : (#) sid e GN D an d EARTH : ( $)
si de GND. Don 't s ho rt betw ee n t he LIVE sid e GND a nd
ISO LATE D(N EUTR AL) si de GN D or EAR TH side GND a nd
never mea sure with a meas uring apparatus (oscilloscope etc.)

If above note will not be kept, a fuse or any parts will be broken.

7. The hig h volt ag e app lied t o the pictu re tu be mu st co nfo rm with
that specified in Service manual. Excessive high voltage can
cau se an incr ea se i n X-R a y emi s sion , a rci n g and p ossi bl e
com po nent d am ag e, th er ef or e op er atio n un der excess iv e high

vol ta ge c ondit i ons s h ou ld be k e pt to a m in i mu m, or sh ou l d be
preve nt ed. I f seve re arc ing occ u rs, r em ov e th e AC p ower
immediately and determine the cause by visual inspection
(incor r ect i nsta lla ti on , cr ac ked o r melte d hi gh v oltag e h arness,
p oor s olderin g, etc. ). T o ma in ta in the pr op er m i ni m um le vel of

soft X-Ray emission, components in the high voltage circuitry
incl ud i ng the pi ctu r e tu be mu st be the exa ct r ep l acemen ts or
alte rn at ives a ppro ved b y the manuf actu r er of th e co mp l ete
prod uct.

10 . Isolation Check

(Safety for Electrical Shock Hazard)

(r.m.s.).

voltmeter. Move the res istor connection to each exposed m etal
part, particularly any exposed metal part having a return path to

th e ch assis , an d m ea sur e t he A C vol ta ge acr oss th e resi sto r.
Now, reve rs e th e plu g in t he A C out let a nd r ep eat e ac h
measu rem en t. An y volta ge meas u re d m us t not exce ed 0.7 5V
AC (r.m. s.) . This corresp onds t o 0.5mA AC (r.m. s.) .
Howev e r, i n trop ic al ar ea, thi s must not ex cee d 0 .3V AC
(r.m.s.). This corr esp onds t o 0.2mA A C (r .m .s.) .

CHECKIN G THE PW BOARD

To check the PW Board from back side.

1. Pull out the ch assis ( refer t o REM OVI NG THE MAIN PWB ).

2. Erect th e chas sis ver ti c a lly s o th at you c an ea s i ly ch eck th e bac k

si de of the PW Boar d.

contacting with other PW Board.

prop er l y c on nec ted .

When conducting a check with power supplied, be sure to

confirm that the CRT EART H WIRE (BRAIDED ASS’’’’ Y) is

connec ted to the CRT SOCKET PW boar d.

WIRE CLAMPIN G AND CABLE TYING
