The manufacturer or distributor cannot be held liable for any incorrect use or any use other that for domestic kitchen food preparation.
Before connection of this appliance to the mains power supply, ensure that the voltage and frequency given on the data plate correspond with the electricity supply. The supply should be 13A standard 3 pin plug for UK use (supplied). If no supply is available, a suitably qualified electrician should install one. The connecting plug may be replaced for use other countries by a qualified electrical engineer in accordance with local regulations and laws.
This appliance must not be connected to the mains supply via an extension lead.
This appliance should be connected to a mains supply with an effective earthing system. This system must meet local and national safety regulations. As with all electrical appliances, it is recommended that they are tested regularly by a qualified electrician. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for the consequences of an inadequate earthing system e.g. electric shock.
The gas connection requires a rigid connection for mains gas or a flexible hose for LPG (not supplied). This connection should be tested for leaks by an approved “Gas Safe” engineer and gas tests completed by pressure drop testing at the meter in accordance with gas regulations. Only approved leak detection spray should be used.
The appliance should be kept clean at all times and where there are external components, these also should be kept clean and regularly maintained and serviced.
The external area of this appliance should only be washed with mild soapy water. The electrical componentry of the hob should not be allowed to come into contact with water.
Safety In use
The JSI range of gas hobs have flame failure devises fitted as standard to all of the burners. The use of gas appliances without flame failure devices is illegal in the UK where there is multiple occupancy (flats, apartments etc.) so this hob may be fitted anywhere.
The gas burners are ignited by the hobs built in auto ignition system. Never attempt to light the gas burners with a naked flame.
Do not use the hob for purposes other than cooking. The cast iron pan supports get extremely hot and hobs in use or immediately after use should never be left unattended especially where the presence of children is likely. Never leave pans or fryers unattended. Never leave an open grill unattended as overheated oil and fat could damage the appliance.

Safety of children
This appliance is not suitable for use by young children Guidance should be given for the use of this appliance by older children to enable them to use it safely. Packaging should be kept out of reach of babies and young children.
Care and Maintenance – Glass
All external surfaces should only be cleaned using warm water with a little washing up liquid applied to a moist cloth avoiding excess water. Wipe the surface dry using a soft clean cloth Do not allow water to penetrate the control panels as this could damage the electronics. An E-Cloth should be used on all stainless steel, glass, plastic and chrome surfaces without the use of water or chemicals.
Do not use general cleaning agents for this glass as they may leave blue marks on the glass. If fluid containing sugar spills onto the hob – clean off immediately with sponge and a few drops of
detergent suitable for ceramic glass then dry with paper towel. Avoid the use of cleaning agent containing soda, acids chlorides or solvents.
Avoid the use of abrasive cleaners, abrasive sponges or any other product that may contain fine particles as this will scratch the surface. Avoid using any cloths that may have been used with cleaning materials previously.
In common with all toughened glass appliances and products, the glass can be damaged by objects falling on it, heavy impact from a pan on the pan supports or impact to sides or centre of the glass. If for any reason the glass surface is cracked, immediately turn off the gas valves and electrical supply and seek advice. (see also glass damage in the installation section)
Never use steel wool or any kind of knife to clean the glass.
Care and Maintenance – Gas valves
The gas knobs can be cleaned with warm soapy water. Burner parts which are removable can be washed in a hot soap solution but must not be immersed in water when hot. Do not clean in a dishwasher
Care and Maintenance – Pan Supports
The pan supports can be cleaned with warm soapy water and scrubbed. Do not clean in a dishwasher. Burner parts can be washed in a hot soap solution but must not be immersed in water when hot. Pan supports may dis-colour over time. Stove black or grate black can be used to darken the surface of the cast iron to its original colour.
Installation: Suitability
Safety regulations prohibit the use of this appliance with any fuel other than Natural Gas or LPG (LPG conversion kit required to be fitted). An isolator valve must be fitted to the gas supply line for both LPG and natural gas. The minimum safety distance between the top of the gas cooker or hob and the bottom of the cooker hood is 65cm (electric hobs) and 75cm (gas hobs) or those clearances as provided by the hood

manufacture. The vertical distance between the edge of the glass and adjacent cupboards should also be no less than 50mm. The surface that the appliance is to be fitted in and all adjacent furniture must be resistant to temperatures to 75°C. All pipe work and fittings must be non-flammable and kept away from any sharp edges. The appliance must not be connected to any other electrical apparatus. The appliance must not be fitted in a room that contains a fireplace unless adequate ventilation is installed. You should seek advice from a professional “Gas Safe” installer on all other matters. A gas isolation valve should always be used through which the hob is supplied. Gas valve knobs where options are supplied must be changed by the professional “Gas Safe” installer. When using the appliance in a room or area where another heating appliance exists, ventilation may be required. These appliances include gas, oil wood and coal fire and burners. There may be insufficient air for clean combustion of the burning appliance. This may bring about an increase in Carbon Monoxide. When fitting over a built in oven, care should be taken so that no gas or electric supply comes into contact with the hot oven. Proper air vents should be fitted to ensure adequate ventilation for a combined hob/oven installation. You should seek expert advice from a competent builder or for gas; a “Gas Safe” registered installer must be consulted. It is always advisable to fit carbon monoxide detectors where any Natural Gas or LPG appliance is fitted. The manufacturer cannot be held liable for damage caused by noncompliance with these warning and safety instructions or current UK gas regulations.
Installation
All electrical work should be undertaken by a suitably qualified and competent person in accordance with European, National and Local regulations.
Installations completed by unqualified persons could be dangerous and illegal and the manufacturer cannot be held responsible for product damage or personal injury that may arise from such installation. Ensure that power is not supplied to the appliance until after the installation is completed and checks have been made. Connections to the mains supply must never under any circumstances be made using an extension lead. Electrical connection of the appliance is made via a suitable isolating switch or a double poled fused spur which complies with European, National and Local regulations and the on/off switch should be accessible after the appliance has been installed and built in. If the switch is not accessible after installation then a further means of disconnection must be provided at all poles. Gas connection is made using a suitable and approved gas isolation valve. For the U.K. and Ireland, this appliance is suitable for connection to 230v single phase 50Hz supply. The power cable should be H05VV-F type 3 core 5mm and no more electrical appliances should be connected through it. The connection leads are in accordance with the following codes: Green/Yellow = Earth Blue = Neutral Brown = Live
