pplications
A
The FS-1300 Combination Fire/Smoke Damper is designed to meet design specifications requiring one damper to provide both a 1-1/2 hour fire rating and a Class II leakage-rating at 350°F.
The FS-1300 Combination Fire/Smoke Damper is tested according to UL Standard 555 for dampers intended for use in HVAC duct systems passing through fire-resistive partitions, and UL Standard 555S for dampers that are used in HVAC smoke systems.
When multiple assemblies incorporate individual sections operated by their own closure mechanism or actuator, each individual section is to be operated at the maximum specified airflow for the multiple assembly, with all other sections closed.
The FS-1300 Combination Fire/Smoke Damper must be installed in accordance with the Standard and
SMACNA Fire Damper Guide
duct passes through a required fire barrier. The blades, when closed, shall be within the plane of the fire barrier (wall or floor).
The standard FS-1300 Combination Fire/Smoke Damper includes a 24-inch-long, 18-gauge galvanized steel sleeve, 165°F primary heat sensor, 250°F fusible link, actuator, and dual linkage.
212°F primary heat sensor and 350°F fusible link are optional.
Single-section dampers are approved for the following:

O
After installation, when power (electric or pneumatic) is applied to the actuator, the damper blades will be driven to the open position by the actuator.
When the primary temperature sensor detects heat, it breaks power to the actuator, closing the damper blades through the spring-return mechanism of the actuator. The damper is now in the smoke protection mode (damper closed via actuator).
If the air temperature reaches the fusible link temperature (secondary temperature sensor), the link fuses. The damper linkage disengages from the actuator, allowing the blades to close by a torsion spring. The damper is now in fire protection mode (damper closed via torsion spring) and further operation is not possible.

FS-1300 size limits are a function of past UL tests. Note: All FS-1300 Combination Fire/Smoke
Dampers will be provided with an actuator from either Table 2 or 3, determined by the fifth character in the code.
FS-1300 Combination Fire/Smoke Dampers are available in nominal 1-inch increments only. Actual damper size is 0.99479 inch less than nominal.
Note: Proper sleeve length is determined by adding
18 inches to the wall or floor thickness. For example, a 6-inch fire wall would require a 24-inch-long minimum sleeve.
