Assembly
For Installation for adjustable U-Base Lifters
Recommended Tools: 3/4" and 1/2" wrench, 3/16" hex wrench
Warning: All shoulder bolts must engage through the bracket on both sides. If bolt is not fully engaged, misalignment and premature failure may result. Worn parts could fail, resulting in injury to patient/caregiver (Figure 1).
Warning: The large thrust washer must be inserted on the cradle hanger post (Figure 1). If washer is not present, the cradle hanger post and cradle center may wear prematurely. Warn cradle parts could fail, resulting in injury to resident/caregiver. Hanger post should protrude cradle center by 1/16th inch (Figure 1).
1. Carefully unpack lifter in the following order: a. Remove the outside top of the box.
b. Remove the three inside top llers from the
box. NOTE: If the lifter is a power version, be careful with the center ller, it contains the electronics. c. Remove base and adjustment handle from the box. d. Remove bottom ller from the box. e. Remove cradle and mast assembly from the box.
2. Apply a thin layer for grease to all bolts.
3. Place base of lifter on a hard even surface with the wheels contacting the surface. Insert the mast in sleeve of base making sure that it is fully engaged. Tighten the mask lock bolt (Figure 2). Make sure boom points in the same direction as base legs. Keep mast locked at all times except while storing.
4. Place adjustment handle into socket as shown (Figure 2). Pull adjustment handle back to unlock. Handle can be moved to the right to widen the base to 39 1/2" or to the left to narrow the base to 24".
5. Remove boom from ller and attach to top of mast as shown (Figure 2).
6. Attach to of actuator to boom with cap and hardware. Note: Attach rst to hole on bracket (Figure 2), second hole can be used for heavier patients to ease the load on actuator, however the vertical lifting range will lose 4 inches.
7. Remove actuator from ller and attach top of actuator to mast and bottom to boom with hardware (Figure 1).
8. Attach cradle to the end of boom with cap and hardware (Figure 2).
9. Brake is provided on rear caster for parking only. To lock caster, step on cam lever, located on side of caster. To unlock brake, step on highest cam lever.

Operation
Hand Control
The hand control activates the lifter and has two (2) buttons; one “up” and one “down”.
Simply press the button for the direction you want the lifter to move.
Battery Charging
Plug the charger into the wall socket (110V) prior to connecting the plug to the control box. A control box with battery will hold a (unused) charge for approximately six (6) months. To achieve the longest life, keep the battery fully charged. After approximately six (6) hours of charging, the batteries will be fully charged and the LCD display should read 100%
Note: It is not possible to overcharge batteries.
Note: When battery alarm sounds, batteries should
be recharged.
Instructions
The duty cycle printed on the label of the control box must always be noted. If the cycle has been exceeded, the control box could overheat and
become damaged. Unless otherwise specied on
the label, the duty cycle is maximum 10% or six (6) min/hour of continuous operation.
Note: Power lifter will not be operable during the time the charger is connected.
Warning: Do not charge the battery while someone is in the lifter and especially if the unit is being used in wet or bathing areas.
Caution: By unauthorized opening of the system, there is a risk that it may malfunction at a later date.
Warning: Lifters can tip over. Keep base widened for stability. Never lock brakes or block wheels when lifting someone. Brakes are provided for parking. To lock casters, step on cam lever on side of casters. To unlock brakes, step on highest cam lever.
1. Battery
2. Emergancy Stop
3. Control Box
Release Knob
To raise lifter: Tighten clockwise hydraulic pressure release knob. Release knob is locked on pump near pump handle. Base of lifter must be spread to widest possible position to maximize stability. Pump hydraulic handle. Steering handle may be held to steady lifter.
To lower lifter: Open hydraulic pressure release knob by turning it counter clockwise, not more than one full turn. Guide descent. Push gently on knees to attain correct sitting posture while lowering. After patient reaches seat, push down on boom to slacken chains.
Note: Hydraulic Jack
1. Use jack to raise boom to position for lifting patient.
2. DO NOT lift up on end of boom to position for lifting patient as this causes air to be drawn in under ram, preventing jack from lifting when handle is pumped.
3. DO NOT press down hard on handle when bottom of stroke is reached.

Page 6

4. It is a common occurrence after a few hours of non-use for the boom and jack to lower with no weight suspended from the end of the boom. This does not indicate a faulty jack, but is a trait common to hydraulic equipment.
5. If trouble develops with the hydraulic jack, remove it and ship it to Hoyer for repair or exchange. Provide serial number and date purchased. DO NOT attempt to lift someone with a faulty hydraulic jack.
Partner Sling Information
Warning: Torn, cut, frayed or broken slings could fail resulting in serious injury or death to patient. Use slings in good condition only. Destroy and discard old, unusable slings.
