JLCooper VTC1 User Manual
VTC1 is a compact remote for fi le-based recorders including: AJA Ki Pro/Ki Pro Rack, Blackmagic Hyperdeck Studio/
Studio Pro, Datavideo HDR-60/70 DN-600/700, Fast Forward Video Micron/Omega, Video Devices PIX 250i/260i/270i,
Sony XDCAM and other recorders. It works with software that support external 9PIN control and most RS-422 VTRs.
It’s small enough to fi t in your pocket or toolbox, but tough enough to stand up to daily use in professional environments.
The controller provides remote control of standard tranport functions like Play, Reverse Play, Still, Stop, Shuttle and
automatically confi gures itself to provide clip browsing on AJA, FFV, Video Devices and other decks that support this
feature. For most machines, the Clip+/- feature provides a shortcut to quickly skip 10 seconds forward or back in time.
VTC1 is made with professional transport buttons and a durable steel enclosure and. It requires no external power supply,
making it even more convenient and portable, and it quickly connects using integrated 3m 9-Pin/RS-422 cable.

VTC1 User Notes
VTC1 Connector
The VTC1 has a combination male, 9 pin, D-Subminiature plug with 2.1
mm power jack. This plug is designed to plug directly into a standard
9-pin remote connector of most hard disk based recorders and VTRs.
Power
VTC1 is a low power controller that can typically be powered from the RS422 port of the device. If an external power supply is needed, we recommend the JLCooper PSDC117 (North America/Japan) or PSDC230 (Europe).
Alternately, you can use a power supply rated for 9-12 Volts DC at 100mA or
greater. The plug is a barrel connector. The center
pin is 2.1mm. The polarity is center positive.
Data
The pinout of the 9 pin, D-Subminiature plug follows the standard pinout
for most hard disk based recorders and VTRs.
Operation
Power Up
When the VTC-1 is powered up, the unit fl ashes the record LED to iden-
tify the device that it’s plugged into.
Button functions
The following tables list the commands that the VTC1 transmits when a given
button or button with Shift is pressed.
