INSTALLATION GUIDE

SB-S-LWAG/10W6v2

Thank you for choosing a JL Audio Stealthbox® for your automotive sound system. With proper
installation, your new vehicle-specific enclosed subwoofer system will deliver years of listening pleasure.

If you choose to perform the installation yourself, it is absolutely vital that
the Stealthbox
instructions. Failure to mount the enclosure properly presents two problems:
1) The sub-bass performance will suffer due to the movement of the enclosure
caused by the force exerted by the woofer(s).
2) A loose enclosure presents a serious safety hazard in the event of a collision
or sudden deceleration.

Remove all contents from the cargo area.
STEP 2
Remove the passenger’s side rear pocket door and the
separation wall.

We strongly recommend that you have your new Stealthbox® installed by your authorized JL Audio
dealer. The installation professionals employed by your dealer have the necessary tools and experience
to disassemble and reassemble your vehicle properly. Also, keep in mind that your warranty coverage
extends to 1 year if your system is installed or approved by your authorized JL Audio dealer. If you
prefer to perform your own installation, please read this installation guide completely
before beginning the process.
STEP 3
With a small flat blade, carefully pop off the black plastic
trim from the passenger’s side rear taillight.

STEP 4
Remove the pair of screws that secure the passenger’s side
rear taillight .
STEP 5
Remove the taillight assembly from the wiring harness.
Pull the wire harness out of the pass through hole.
STEP 6
Apply the supplied wax square into place. The left side is
lined up with the left edge of the pocket opening and above
the emboss portion of the inner lower corner.
STEP 8
Posi tion the Stealth box
®
in the mounting location and press
on it firmly.

Remove the Stealthbox

STEP 9

to be drilling into electrical wiring or anything else that
might c au se a re d uc t io n i n you r wee k l y p ay. Alw ays
wear eye protection when drilling!

Wit h a dril l and a 1/4-in c h dril l bit , dril l at the s ame ang le as
the im pres s ion on the wax square. D rill t hrou g h the plast ic
panel and me tal bo dy. Remove the wax square.

STEP 10

Place the 3/8-inc h dril l bit th roug h the pass through h o le,

STEP 12
Attach th e spea k er wir e t o the termi n al on the S teal thbox®
and check for prope r o per ation of the woofer.
Place t h e S teal thbox® into position.
STEP 13
Look through the pass-through hole and make sure that the
socket cup set screw is lined up with the drilled holes.
With an extra long 3/16-inch hex head wrench, back out the
socket cup set screw to expose about 1 1/2-inch.
The socket cup set screw will wedge itself and secure the
Stealthbox
®
to the vehicle.
STEP 14
Place the wire harness, taillight assembly and trim back into
location.

POWER RECOMMENDATION
JL Audio recommends using a high quality amplifier such as the JL Audio 500/1.
The diagram below shows the recommended crossover, infrasonic filter and equalizer settings for the 500/1 when
being used to power your Stealthbox®.
