RemoteMix 3x4
Five Sections
RemoteMix 3x4 is a professional audio mixer designed to
handle Television IFB feeds and Radio remote broadcasts.
The combination of inputs, outputs, and controls make even
the most complicated remote a simple success. It works with
any standard analog telephone line. It can also connect to
many cellular telephones using a fax/modem adapter
available from your cellular telephone manufacturer.
Your RemoteMix 3x4 has been broken down into five
sections. Both on the actual tool and here in the user guide
for easy use.
Meter Section
The VU meter is switchable between monitoring: Mic mixer,
Signal to main phone line, From main phone line, and From
monitor Line. Battery level can be monitored by simply
pressing the battery test button at any time, with the unit on or
off, AC or battery powered. This section also features a tone
generator. When this is turned on a 1 kHz signal replaces
Mic 3. Mic 3 volume control adjusts the level of the test tone.
Mixer Section
RemoteMix 3x4 features three Mic/Line inputs. Each has a
selector switch on the side panel that lowers the gain on the
Mic XLR jack by 30 dB to allow a balanced line level input.
Each has a separate volume control located on the front panel.
There are two other controls in this section to make a total of
five. Mix to Main phone line controls the volume of the mix
being sent to the main phone line. Mixer output controls the
volume of the mix being sent to the XLR mixer output jack.

Headphone Section
Three separate headphone amplifiers are strong enough to
power a pair of headphones or a small desktop speaker.
Each has independent source and volume controls. Y ou can
choose between Mix, Main phone line, and Monitor phone
line. These jacks will drive either a 1/4" stereo plug or a 1/4"
mono plug. There is a 1/4” jack on the side of the RemoteMIx
3x4 labeled Headphone cue that will allow you to mix in new
audio to all of the headphones, not disturbing what each has
selected.
Main Phone Line Section
This switch allows you to select between the four phone lines
as to which one you want to send and listen to. Level controls
the volume of the XLR output labeled Main Phone output.
Monitor Section
This section was created to allow for someone controlling
setup procedures. They have access to any of the four phone
lines through a telephone handset, a headphone jack, or an
XLR output jack. Rotary selector switch selects between four
telephone lines. “Add” button seizes the selected telephone
line. “Drop” button releases the selected telephone line.
DTMF keypad for dialing on the selected line. Level control
adjusts output level from a selected line on a male XLR jack.
Line LEDs lit when line is seized, flickers when ringing.

Monitor Section (continued)
The DTMF telephone keypad is for tone dialing only, not
pulse dialing. You may use the keypad at anytime during a
call but keep in mind that both transmit and receive audio are
muted during a key press.
RemoteMix 3x4 contains four analog hybrids. These hybrids
provide excellent sound quality at telephone bandwidth (180
Hz - 3600 Hz). These are, however, simple hybrid circuits
which provide only a minimum return cancellation. Any audio
that you send down the phone line, from RemoteMix 3x4, will
come back mixed with the signals from the other end of the
call. The Main Phone Line output XLR jack contains a mix of
both sides of a call.
