Warnings
1. Read and understand the entire owner's manual before attempting assembly or operation.

only. If you are not f amiliar wit h the proper and safe operation of a dust coll ector, do not use until
proper trai ning and k nowledge have been obtained.
5. Do not use this dust col lector for other t han its intended use. If used for other purpose s, WMH Tool
Group discl aims any real or implied warranty and holds itself harmless from any injury t hat may result
from that use.
6. Always wear approved safety glasses/face shields while using this dust collector. Everyday
eyeglasses only have impact resistant lenses; t hey are not safety glasses.

past the elbows. Rem ove all loose cl othing and confi ne long hair. Non-sl ip foot wear or anti-ski d floor
strips are recommended. Do not wear gloves.
8. Wear ear protector s (plugs or muffs) during ext ended peri ods of oper ation.
9. Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling and other construction activities
contain chemi cals known to cause cancer , bir th defects or other r eproductiv e harm . Some examples
of these chemic als are:
• Lead from lead based paint.
• Crystalli ne sil ic a from bricks, cement and other m asonry pr oducts.
• Arsenic and chromium from chemically treated lumber.
Your risk of exposure varies, depending on how often you do this type of work. To reduce your
exposure to these chemicals, work in a well-ventilated area and work with approved safety
equipment, such as face or dust masks that are specifically designed to filter out microscopic
particles.
10. Do not operate this machine while tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or any medicati on.
11. M ak e c er tain the switch is in the OFF position before connecti ng the machine to the power supply.
12. M ak e c ertain the machine is properly grounded.
13. M ak e all machine adjustm ents or maintenance with the machine unplugged from the power source.
14. Remove adjusting keys and wrenches. Form a habit of checking to see that keys and adjusting
wrenches are removed from the machine before turning it on.
15. Keep safety guards in place at all times when the machi ne is in use. If removed for maintenance
purposes, use extreme caution and replace the guards immediately.
16. Check damaged parts. Before further use of the machine, a guard or other part that is damaged
should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended
function. Check for alignment of moving part s, binding of moving parts, br eakage of parts, mounting
and any other condi ti ons that m ay affect its operati on. A guard or ot her part that i s damaged shoul d
be properly repaired or replaced.

22. Do not use the dust collector for anything except wood dust. Materials such as liquids, metal
shavings, metal dust , screws, glass, plastic or roc k can cause sparks and/or dam age when coming
into contact with any part of the dust collector.
23. Use recom mended accessories; i mproper accessories may be hazardous.
24. M aintain tools with car e. F ollow instructions for lubricating and changing accessori es.
25. Turn off the mac hine before cleaning. Use a brush or compressed air to remove chips or debri s — do
not use your hands.
26. Do not stand on the machine. Seri ous injury could occur if the machine ti ps over.
27. Never leave the mac hine running unattended. Turn the power off and do not leave the machine until it
comes to a complete stop.

Assembly
The parts requir ed for this section are contained in
two Hardw are Packages (Part Num bers: JC3-HD1
and JC3-HD2).
Impeller Housing to Dust Collection
Box
Referring to Fi gur e 1:
1. Place the impeller housing assembly (A)
upside down on the ground as shown.
2. Place the funnel (D) on top of the impeller
housing assembly (A), lining up the ten
mounting hol es (E ).
3. Secure the impeller housing assembly (A) to
the funnel (D) with ten M8x20 hex cap screws
(B) and ten M8 hex nuts (C). Tighten using
12mm wrench for screws and 13mm for hex
nuts.
Leg Assembly
Depending on your ceiling limitations, the JC-3
Cyclone Dust Collec tion S yst em can be a ssem bled
as either a 9' (110") or 8' ( 94") unit.
The 110" (9') unit will accommodate a 55-gallon
steel drum or a 44-gal l on plast ic garbag e can to be
used as the collection drum. The drum cover is
designed to fit either container.
The Cyclone can be configured for 94" (8') to
accommodate eight-foot ceilings. Use a 35-gallon
cardboard drum for the collection drum.
The unit hei ght is determined in the leg assem bly.
When the desired system height is known, follow
the Leg Assembly instruction that fits your
particular needs.

Leg Assembly Instr uc tions (for one leg)
Referring to Fi gur e 2:
1. Insert an upper leg (A) and low er leg with the
threaded mounting-hole side (B) into the
connection bracket (D), noting the orientation
of the connection bracket. Line up the
mounting holes and fasten the assembly with
eight M8x12 hex cap screws (G). Ti ghten with
a 12mm wrench.
Note: The correct connection bracket
orientation is important.
If you are assembli ng an eight foot unit, ski p steps
2–5 and go to step 6. For the nine foot unit,
proceed:
2. Insert a connecting joint (E ) into the remaining
open end of t he l ower leg (B ), li ning up t he fi rst
two mounting holes and secure with four
M8x12 hex cap screws (G). Hand tight en only
at this time.
3. Place a short extension (C) on the protruding
half of the connecting joint (E). Line up the
mounting holes and secure with four M8x12
hex cap screws (G). Tighten all eight screws
with a 12mm wrench.
4. Place a foot (F) on the end of the short
extension (C) and secure with one M8x55 hex
cap screw (H) and o ne M8 nylon lock nut (J) .
Tighten with t wo 13mm wrenches.
5. Repeating steps 1–4, assemble the two
remaining legs.
This completes the leg assembly for a nine foot
dust collector. Proceed to the Frame Assembly
section. Steps 6–7 complete the l eg assembly for
the eight foot dust collector.
6. Place a foot (F) on the remaining open end of
the lower leg (B) and secure with one M8x55 hex cap screw (H) and one M8 nylon lock nut
(J). Tighten wit h two 13mm wrenches but l eave
enough slack to permit the foot to pivot.

7. Repeating steps 1 and 6 assemble the two
remaining legs.

Support Frame
Mounting legs to mot or & housing as sembly
Referring to Fi gur e 3:
1. Insert the three assembled legs (A) into the
channel brackets ( B) on the side of the motor,
making sure that the tabs (C) of the connec tion
brackets point toward the center.
2. Line up the m ounting holes of the legs (D) wit h
the channel brackets (E) and secure with
M8x12 hex c ap scr ews ( four per l eg; 12 screws
total).
3. Tighten with a 12mm wrench or socket.
Support Plate
Referring to Fi gur e 4:
1. While the dust collection unit is still upside
down, attach the support plate (A) to two
connection brackets (B) on the outside of the
frame as shown, pl acing making sure that the
tab (C) is pointing down.
2. Insert four M8x12 hex cap screws (D) through
the mounting holes on the support plate side
and secure with M8 hex nuts from the
connection brac ket side. Tighten wit h a 12mm
and 13mm wrench.

3. Attach the remaining two support brackets in
the same manner.
At this time turn the dust collection unit right side
up.
This machine is heavy. Follow
the procedure below in order to prevent
personal injury and/or damage to the machine.
While two people lift and right the unit, a third
person is needed to prevent the system from
sliding forward by holding the feet in place.
Switch, Inlet Tube and Adapter
Referring to Fi gur e 5:
Switch
1. Loosen any two adjacent hex nut and screw
assemblies that secure the funnel to the
separator and remove the hex nuts (B) .
2. Attach the switch (A) to the dust collector by
resting the tab ( C) against t he underside of the
funnel lip such that the protruding screws (D)
pass through the m ounting holes in the tab (C).
3. Secure with the hex nuts (B) that were
removed in step 1.

Inlet Tube
4. Secure the inlet tube (E) to the rectangular
opening (F) on the separator with six M8x20
hex cap screws (G) and six M8 hex nuts (H).
Adapter
5. Slide the adapter (J) onto the inlet tube (E).
6. Line up the m ounting holes and secure with an
M5x12 pan head screw (K).

Base
Referring to Fi gur e 6:
1. Place an M10 flat washer (C
) on the caster (A)

and insert the caster through bottom of the
base (B).
2. Slide another M10 flat washer (C
) and M10
2
lock washer (D) over the caster shaft.
3. Thread a 3/8" hex nut (E) on the caster shaft
and fasten with a 14mm (9/16") wrench.
4. Repeat for remaining three casters.

Collection Drum
The collection drum (not included) needs to be
fitted wit h a bushing to provide a connecti on point
for a vacuum hose. Later a plastic collection bag
will be placed inside the drum which will collect
larger dust parti c les during operation.
Use a 55-gallon steel drum or a 44-gallon plastic
garbage can for 9-foot units and a 35-gallon
cardboard drum for 8-foot units.
To connect the bushing to the drum (refer to
Figure 7):
1. Drill a hole 1/2" diameter in the side of t he steel
drum 2-1/2" from the bottom.
2. Place a lock nut on the threaded side of the
bushing and insert the bushing through the
opening in the drum (fr om step 1) .
3. On the inside of the drum, place the separator
plate on the bushing followed by another lock
nut and tighten the bushing assembly.

Drum Cover
Referring to Fi gur e 8:
1. Pl ace two hose clamps (A) on the ends of the
short hose (B).
2. Slide the upper end of the hose (B) onto the
bottom of the funnel (C) and secure by
tightening the upper hose clamp (A) with a
cross-point screwdriver.
Helpful Hint: To make the following step easier,
place your collection drum (not included) on the
base (Figure 6) wit h the drum cover on and position
the drum assembly under the hose.
3. Attach the drum cover (D) to the bottom end of
the hose (B) and secure by tightening the l ower
clamp (A).
4. Insert three eye bolts, M6 hex nuts, M6 lock washers and M6 flat washers (E) into the
threaded mounting holes on the drum cover (D)
5. Loop wire hoops (F) t hrough each eye bolt (E)
and secure by slippi ng two wire clasps (G) on
the ends.
6. Loop the wire hoops over the support plate tabs (H).
The hoops will relieve strain on the hose (B) by
supporting t he drum cover (D) when the drum
is removed to empty the contents.

Vacuum Hose
Referring to Fi gur e 9:
1. Put grease on the inside of one end of the
vacuum hose (A) and on the protruding
connection tube (C) locat ed on the side of t he
separator.
2. Place a 5/ 8" hose clamp (B) over the vacuum hose (A), connec t the hose (A) to the tube (C),
and secure by tight ening the hose clamp (B).
3. Put grease on the inside of the rem aining loose
end of the vacuum hose (D) and on the
bushing (F) l oc ated on the side of the collection
drum (installed in the Collection Drum sect ion).
4. Place a 5/ 8" hose clamp (E) over the vacuum hose (D), connect the hose (D) to the bushing
(F), and secure by tightening the hose clamp
(E).

Collector Housing and Collector Bag
Refer to Figure 10.
Note: If you are assembling the 8-foot dust
collection uni t the support brackets (A) will not be
used. Insert the six M8 x 12 hex cap s crews wit h
six M8 hex nuts to c over the hol es on the housing.
Skip Step 1 and proceed to Step 2.
1. Attach three support brackets (A) to the
housing (B) using six M8 x 12 hex cap
screws (C) and six M8 hex nuts (D). Tighten
with a 12mm and 13mm wrench.
2. Bri ng the top of the plastic bag (E) up through
the snap r ing (F) to extend about t hree inches
and fold it over the top of t he snap ring (G).
3. Insert the snap ring (F) with the coll ector bag
wrapped around it into the bottom of the
housing (H) at an angle so the ring is enti rely
inside the housing (B).
4. Pull down on the ri ng to make sure it “seats” i n
the housing.
Filter Installation
If your dust coll ection unit is equipped with a filter
bag, proceed to the Filter Bag Installation section
on page 16. If you have the canister filter model,
proceed below:
Canister Filter Installation
The parts requir ed for this section are contained in
the Canister Har dware Package (PN: JC2CF-HD1).
Referring to Fi gur e 11:
1. Place the canister (A) on the collector
housing (B) lining up the snaps (C) to the
hooks (D) and secure by closing the snaps.
2. Connect two support arms (E) to mounting
brackets on the impeller housing (F) and
canister cover (G). Secure with four M8x45
Hex Cap Screws (H), eight M8 Flat Washers
(J), and four M8 Nylon Inser t Lock Nuts (K).

3. Place 8" hose clamps (L) on each end of the
30" hose (M).
4. Mount the hose (M) to the ports on the impeller
(N) and canister cover (O) and secure by
tightening t he scr ews on the hose clamps (L).

Canister Handle Assembly
The parts requir ed for this section are contained in
the Handle Hardwar e P ac kage (PN: JC2CF-HD2).
Referring to Fi gur e 12:
1. Loosen the setscrew (A) in the handle (B) with
a 4mm hex wrench.
2. Insert the handle tube (C) into the handle,
lining up the hole so the setscrew can pass
through.
3. Place the handle on the shaft (D) which is
located on the side of the c anister, making sure
that the setscrew sits on the flat edge of the
shaft.
4. Place the lock washer (E) on the screw (F),
then thread the scre w onto t he end of the shaf t
to secure the handle.
5. Tighten the screw (F) and setscrew (A).

Filter Bag Assembly
Referring to Fi gur e 13:
1. Place t he threaded end of the hanger (A) into
the tab (B) on the impeller housing.
2. Fasten with an M 10 flat washer (C), M10 lock washer (D) and M10 hex nut (E) and tighten
with a 17mm wrench.
3. Slide the filter bag loop (F) over the hanger
hook (G).
4. Place an 8" hose clamp (H) over the sleeve (J).
5. Slide the opening of the sleeve (J) over the port
(K) on the impeller housing and secure by
tightening t he clamp with a screwdriver.
6. Thread the retainer strap (L) through the loops
on the filter bag and fasten to the collector housing (M).

Electrical Connections
All electrical connections
must be done by a qualified
electrician . All adjustments or repai rs must
be done with the dust coll ector disco nnected
from the power source, unplugged. Failure
to comply may result in serious injury!
The JC-3 is rat ed at 3 Phase 230V. The JC-3 i s
not supplied wit h a plug. Use a plug and outlet
rated at least 20amps. The circuit for the
machine should al so be protected by at least a
20 amp circuit break er or fuse.
Keep in mind t hat a circuit bei ng used by other
machines: tool s, light s, heaters, et c. at the same
time will add to the electrical l oad. A dedicated
circuit to t he dust coll ector will giv e you the best
results since dust collectors are generally used
at the same time other t ools are running.
Before hooking up to the power source, make
sure that the switch is in the off position.
Turning th e Machine On &
Off
Before hooking up to the power source, make
sure that the switch is in the off position.
Turn the dust col lector on by pressing the St art
button. Press the Stop button to tur n off the dust
collector.
Maintenance
2. Unhook the fi lter bag from the hanger and
shake the bag so that the majority of the
dust falls int o the collector bag.
3. Loosen the retaining strap, and r em ov e the
filter bag fr om the housi ng.
4. Turn t he bag i nsi de out and clean.
5. Turn t he bag outside in and re-attach to the
housing using the r etainer strap to secure.
Removing the Collector Bag – All
Models
1. Disconnect the machine from the power
source.
2. Remov e the col lector bag by pushing the
ring of the collector bag upwards and
pulling the bag out at an angle.
3. Empty the c ontents into an appropriate
container.
4. Turn t he bag i nsi de out and clean.
5. Turn t he bag outside in and insert into the
housing.
To replace the collector bag, refer to the
Collector Housing and Collector B ag sect ion.
Use the proper type hose to connect the dust
collector to the machine being oper ated. Dryer vent hose is not acceptable for this purpose.

Cleaning the Filter Bag – Filter Bag
Model
Wearing a particle mask or
respirator for protection
against fine dust particles during cleaning is
highly recommended.
During first use and aft er cleaning, the filt er bag
may allow some du st to e scape. This i s normal
and will stop after a short period of time.
Clean both the filter and collector bags
frequently to keep the collector's perf ormance at
its optimum. To clean:
1. Disconnect the machine from the power
source.

To clean the filter, turn the handle a couple of
rotations so the dust f alls into the collector bag.
Motor
Make frequent inspections of the m otor fan and
blow out (with l ow pressure air hose) or v acuum
any accumulati on of foreign materi al in order to
maintain normal motor ventilation.

The dust collection system includes the dust
collector and the hose, or ductwork you use to
connect the tools. The dust collector is
grounded though the ground wire in the cord.
The hose or ductwork you use to connect the
tool to t he dust col l ector must al so be grounded.
