Warranty Period

• JET products carry a limit ed warranty whi ch var ies in duration based upon the product. (See chart below)
• Accessories carry a limi t ed warranty of one year from the date of receipt.
• Consumable items ar e defined as expendable parts or accessories expected to become inoperable within a
reasonable amount of use and are covered by a 90 day limited warranty agai nst manufacturer’s defects.

Warnings

4. This band saw is designed and i ntended for use by properl y t rai ned and ex peri enced personnel only .
If you are not familiar with the proper and safe operation of a band saw, do not use until proper
traini ng and knowledge have been obtained.
5. Do not use this band saw for other than it s intended use. If used for other pur poses, JET disclai ms
any real or implied warranty and hol ds i tself har mless fr om any injury that may result from that use.
6. Always wear approved safety glasses/face shields while using this machine. Everyday eyeglasses
only have impact resistant lenses; they are not safety gl asses.
7. Before operating this machine, remove tie, rings, watches, and other jewelry, and roll sleev es up
past the elbows. Remove all loose clothing and confine long hair. Non-slip footwear is
recommended. Do not wear gloves.
8. Wear ear protector s (plugs or muffs) during extended per iods of operat ion (Figure D).
9. Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling and other construction activities
contain c hemicals known to cause cancer, birth defects or ot her r epr oduc tive harm . Some examples
of these chemical s are:
• Lead from lead based paint.
• Crystalline silica from bricks, cement and other masonry products.
• Arsenic and chromium from chemically treated lumber.
10. Your risk of exposure varies, depending on how often you do this type of work. To reduce your
exposure to these chemicals: work in a well-ventilated area and work with approved safety
equipment, such as face or dust masks that are specifically designed to filter out microscopic
particles.
11. Do not operate tool while tir ed or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or any other medication.
12. Make certain t he switc h is in the OFF posit ion befor e c onnec ting the machine t o the power supply.
13. Make certain t he machine is properly grounded.
14. Make all m achine adjustments or m aintenance with the machine unplugged from the power source.
15. Remove adjusting keys and wrenches. Form a habit of checking to see that keys and adjusting
wrenches are removed fr om the machine before turning it on.
16. Keep m achi ne guards i n pl ace at all t im es when the machine i s in use. If rem ov ed f or mai ntenance
purposes, use extrem e c aution and repl ac e the guards immediat ely.
17. Make sure the band saw is firmly secured to the floor befor e use.
18. Check damaged parts. Before further use of the machine, a guard or other part that is damaged
should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended
function – check for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts,
mounting, and any other conditions that may affect its operation. A guard or other part that is
damaged should be properly repair ed or r eplaced.

19. Provi de for adequate space surrounding work area and non-glare, ov er head lighting.
20. Keep the floor ar ound the machine clean and free of scrap material, oil and grease.
21. Keep visi tors a safe distanc e from the work area. Keep children away.
22. Make your workshop child proof with padl oc k s, master switches or by removing start er k ey s.
23. Gi ve your work undi v i ded at tent i on. Looki ng around, carr yi ng on a conversati on and “horse-pl ay” ar e
careless acts that can r esul t in serious injury.
24. Do not over reac h. Mai nt ai n a balanc ed stance at al l ti m es so that y ou do not f al l or lean against the
drill bit or other moving parts.
25. Use the right tool. Don’t force a tool or attac hment to do a job for whic h it was not designed. The r ight
tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed.
26. Use recommended accessories; improper ac c essori es may be hazardous.
27. Maintain tools with care. Keep tools sharp and clean for the best and safest performance. Follow
instructions for lubricat ing and changing acc essories.
28. Make sure the work piece securely attached or c lamped t o the table. Never use your hand to hold the
work piece.
29. Nev er brush away chips whil e the machine is runni ng. Use the correct speed and f eed for t he tool.
Be sure that the t ool is the corr ec t one for y our oper ation.
30. Never stand on a machine. Serious injury could occur if the machine tipped or if the drill bit is
unintentionally c ontacted.
31. Never l eav e t he m achi ne runni ng unatt ended. Turn t he power of f and don’t leav e the machi ne until it
comes to a complete stop.

Assembly
1. Disconnect the machine from the power
source.
2. Unpack and clean all rust prot ec ted surfaces
with a mi ld solv ent or kerosene. Do not use
paint thinner, lacquer thinner, or gasoline.
These items will damage painted surfaces.
3. Turn cam locks to rel ease the c huc k .
4. Remov e the chuck and place it on a piece
of wood.
5. Clean the spindle nose and internal taper
thoroughly.
8. Thread the drawbar (B, Figure 3) into the
collet closer assembly (C, Figure 3) until it is
flush wit h the assembly.
6. Screw the coupling assembly into the
spindle threads (F igure 1).

7. The r unout on t he coupl ing shoul d be 0.005”
or less. Adjustm ents can be made by three
hex socket cap screws (A, F igure 2).

9. Slide collet closer assembly into spindle.
Make sure it completely engages castled
gear on the coupling.
10. Screw collet closer into collet by releasing
collet closer lock and turning collet closer
clockwise.
Note: It is necessary to push collet in while
turning closer body to engage draw bar with
the collet. Continue turning until the collet
taper is seated (but not tensioned) in the
taper.
11. Assemble all linkage and attach to collet
closer body (Figure 4).

12. With the help of another person, hold the
collet closer in position with the fixed seat
against the headstock.
Note: T he beari ng shaft shoul d be centered
in the beari ng body.
13. Onc e the l ocat ion of the f i x ed seat has been
determined, use a transfer punch to mark
the location of four mounting holes.
14. Drill four pilot holes with a smaller bit
(0.136”). Drill four appropriate sized holes
with a 0.203” drill bit.
Caution: Do not drill through headstock!
Mark the drill bit so that you do not
exceed 0.5”.
15. Tap drilled holes with a 1/4”-20 plug tap.
Finish t he holes with a 1/4"-20 t ap.
16. Instal l f i x ed seat t o headstock wit h four 1/4” 20 x 3/4” hex socket cap screws.
17. Connect all linkage and adjust for proper
operation.
18. Place a cut ter or materi al into the coll et so
you can adjust the out ward flange. T urn the
outward fl ange until you can mov e the lev er
and it “pops” i nto place loc king the cutter or
material into the collet.
