STEP 1: INSTALL INTAKE AND EXHAUST STANDS
LEAVING 1/4-20 ATTACHING BOLT SNUG BUT LOOSE.
APPLY THREAD SEALANT TO INTAKE BOLT AND OIL TO
EXHAUST BOLT. TORQUE BOLTS TO 60-65 FT/LBS ON
ALUMINUM HEADS AND 65-70 FT/LBS ON CAST IRON
HEADS. USE THE LONGEST BOLT POSSIBLE FOR
MAXIMUM THREAD ENGAGEMENT.

Individual Bolt Together Stands
STEP 2: ONCE THE INTAKE AND EXHAUST STANDS
ARE PROPERLY FASTENED, TORQUE THE 1/4-20 x
3/4” JOINING BOLT TO 12 FT/LBS. IF THE STANDS ARE
SHIMMED TO COMPENSATE FOR A LONGER LENGTH
VALVE, THE STANDS MAY NEED TO BE MODIFIED TO
SECURE THEM TOGETHER.
STEP 3: CHECK FOR PUSHROD TO CYLINDER HEAD
INTERFERENCE AND CORRECT IF NEEDED. THE
PUSHROD SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO TOUCH THE
HEAD OR BLOCK THROUGH ANY PORTION OF ITS
TRAVEL. MEASURE FOR PUSHROD LENGTH NEEDED
AN D ORDER PUSHRODS. IN ST RUCTIONS FOR
MEASURING PUSHROD LENGTH ARE INCLUDED WITH
PUSHROD LENGTH MEASURING TOOL TOL-29450.
STEP 4: LUBRICATE THE TIPS OF THE INTAKE AND
EXHAUST PUSHRODS USING THE SUPPLIED HIGH
PRESSURE LUBE. INSTALL EACH ROCKER ARM WHEN
THE CAM LOBE IS ON ITS BASE CIRCLE AND TORQUE
THE 5/16-18 X 1” SHAFT BOLT TO 26-28 FT/LBS. NEVER
TORQUE SHAFT BOLTS WHEN THE ROCKER IS UNDER
ANY SPRING LOAD AS SHAFT DAMAGE MAY OCCUR.

Torque specs listed above are the recommended torque specs when
using 30wt engine oil as a lubricant. Torque specs will be lower if using
a Moly based lubricant. To convert to Newton/meters, multiply lbs-ft by
1.356. The torque values listed are intended to be for general information.
Actual torque values may vary depending upon your application.

ADJUSTER OPERATING RANGE
THE OPERATING RANGE FOR THE LASH ADJUSTER IS 1/4 TO 2
TURNS OUT FROM THE SEATED POSITION. THE ROCKERS ARE
SHIPPED FROM JESEL WITH THE ADJUSTERS SET 1 TURN OUT
FROM THE SEATED POSITION. IF ADJUSTER IS MORE THAN 2
TURNS OUT, USE A LONGER PUSHROD. IF ADJUSTER IS LESS
THAN 1/4 TURN FROM SEATED POSITION, USE A SHORTER
PUSHOD. NEVER MODIF Y ADJUSTER COUNTERBORE TO
COMPENSATE FOR A PUSHROD THAT IS TO LONG.

DETERMINE PUSHROD LENGTH

◘ ALWAYS LUBRICATE PUSHROD TIPS AND ADJUSTERS WITH
SUPPLIED LUBE.
◘ APPLY THREAD SEALANT TO ALL BOLTS PROTRUDING INTO
INTAKE PORTS.
◘ DO NOT OVER-TORQUE ADJUSTER NUTS - A LWAYS FOLLOW
TORQUE SPECS.
◘ DO NOT RUN WITH ADJUSTER MORE THAN 2 TURNS OUT FROM
SEATED POSITION.
◘ DO NOT MACHINE ADJUSTER COUNTERBORE TO COMPENSATE
FOR A LONG PUSHROD

VALVE LASH ADJUSTMENT
1) ROTATE ENGINE UNTIL EXHAUST ROCKER BEGINS TO OPEN.
SET INTAKE LASH TO DESIRED SPEC.
2) ROTATE ENGINE UNTIL INTAKE ROCKER BEGINS TO RETURN
FROM FULL LIFT. SET EXHAUST LASH TO SPEC.
3) REPEAT FOR RE MAINING CYLIN DERS FOLLOWIN G THE
FIRING ORDER.
