U-Brackets for Control 23-1, 25-1, 28-1
The MTC-xxUB-1 brackets mount JBL Control Contractor Surface-Mount loudspeaker to walls, decks and ceilings and
provide swiveling capability. Read these instructions carefully before beginning.
Installing speakers must be performed by experienced professionals. If you have any doubts about the integrity of the
structure you are mounting to or are not sure about the proper hardware or method to use, consult a structural engineer.
Step 1 – Peel and Stick the Adhesive Friction Washers to the Loudspeaker
Identify the two M6 Insert Points -- one at eac h end of the speaker. Remove the silicone caps from the M6 inserts and
dispose. Remove backing from one of the rubber Adhesive Friction Washers, exposing the adhesive. Stick Adhesive
Friction Washers to the speaker (adhesive side toward the speaker) at each M6 Insert Point, with the opening in the
center of the friction washer lined up with the M6 Insert Point, allowing bolt access to the M6 Insert Point.
Step 2 – Install the Bracket Securely to Building Structure
Select mounting area where speaker will be positioned. Be sure there is adequate structural material for mounting, such
as a stud. Do not rely on acoustic tiles, drywall, etc, unless they are rated to support the weight of the speaker. Follow
building code requirements to safely install the bracket to the building structure.
Be sure the Drop-Down S lot on the side arm of the bracket is on the top of the bracket and not on the bottom. Tighten all
hardware permanently.
Step 3 – Install the Bolts Loosely onto Speaker
Slide a Flat Washer and a plastic Pressure Trim Fitting onto each of the included M6 bolts. Screw bolts loosely into each
of the speaker’s insert poi nts loosely (2 or 3 turns).
Step 4 – Install Speaker into Bracket.
Position the speaker in between the bracket arms and slide the speaker down into bracket s uch that screws drop into
drop-down slots on each side of bracket. Important: Make sure Pressure Trim Fitting is on the outside of bracket.
Step 5 – Aim Speaker
Rotate speaker until it is aimed in desired direction, and slide speaker in the bracket slot either toward or away from wall
to achieve desired distance. Then secure side bolts permanently using 5 mm hex wrench (not i ncluded, installer
provided). Light thread-locking compound is acceptable to ensure solid installation.
Step 6 –Secondary Safety Cable
It is strongly recommended that a properly rated secondary safety cable (provided by the installer) be used to secure
speaker from D-ring slot on back of speaker to a secondary mounting structure on building structure.
