Features
Employs a 38 0mm (15") (1500AL) woofer with ribbed Aquaplas-coated pulp cone and Alnico magnet and
100mm (4" ) edge-wound voice coil.
Aquaplas applied to the rear periphery of the cone helps to eliminate distortion at high power levels.
A Symmetrical Field GeometryTM (SFG) circuit creates vertical symmetry and generates a constant magnetic-flux density
across the width and length of the voice-coil gap.
The 75mm (3") beryllium (435Be) high-frequency compression driver features an Aquaplas-coated diaphragm and
25mm-throat Bi-Radial
The 25mm (1" ) beryllium (045Be) super-tweeter compression driver is mounted in a 12.8mm- (0.5"-) throat Bi-Radial horn.
The K2 S9800SE crossover can be bypassed for active bi-amplification via an external crossover.
Board material is the highest-quality glass-epoxy.
The network is carefully tuned for changes in the use of high-quality capacitors. This results in much smoother response
and exceptional transitions between units.
The component layout is reviewed and optimised for the new high-quality capacitors. Thorough considerations such as
orientations of inductors (90 degrees) are given to minimise mutual interference between components.
SonoGlass®-made HF horn, UHF horn and top dome offer high mass and low resonance.
Hexagonal-shaped enclosure controls internal standing wave.
The network chamber eliminates back pressure, vibration and magnetic flux from the woofer.
Large inductors using thick copper wire are used for the network. Air-core inductors eliminate magnetic saturation and
distortion.
JBL’s proprietary Charge-Coupled Linear DefinitionTM network applies bias to capacitors to enable constant Class A
operation. The newly adopted high-qualit y “fast capacitor” reduces distortion further and results in even more transparency and a richer soundstage.
Three-step bass adjustment, theree-step treble adjustment and normal/bi-amp switching are possible with
control switches on the net work panel.
Large, extruded stainless steel-feet with selectable round and spike tips.
