NOTICE TO EMPLOYER AND SAFETY DIRECTOR
AVOID INJURY
1. Remove and repair any tool that malfunctions. All personnel must be instructed to remove any
malfunctioning equipment.
2. Ensure that all employees who use this tool are trained in the proper use of this tool and are aware
of the dangers that may arise if they do not follow the procedures outlined in this brochure.
3. Enclosed are four (4) copies of “NOTICE TO OPERATORS, MAINTENANCE AND CLEANUP PERSON-
NEL.
” Post one copy on the employees’ bulletin board; give one copy to operator(s); give one copy
to the maintenance foreman; and give one copy to the sub-contract cleanup / internal cleanup foreman.
Additional copies will be provided upon request.
4. The tool is designed and intended to be powerful. That fact should be obvious to your employees,
but you must emphasize it to them.
5. Never make modifications or alterations to the tool. Replace any missing or illegible labels.
6. Always disconnect the t ool from its power supply when it is not in use.
7. Follow our installation and maintenance instructions for proper installation and care of the tool.
8. Ensure that employees wear eye protection in accordance with OSHA’s eye and face protection re-
quirements (29 CFR 1910.133) when using the tool.
9. Hand/Wrist/Arm injury and other Cumulative Trauma Disorders may result from repetitive work,
motion or vibration. You must make your employees aware of hazards, symptoms of injury and appropriate prevention. See OSHA’s “ Ergonomics Program Management Guidelines for Meatpacking
Plants.”
10. Avoid injury. Do not permit the tool to be misused.
11. If you resell or distribute a Jarvis product, you must provide the purchaser with the appropriate safety
sheets and tool brochure. Additional copies of safety sheets and tool brochures will be provided upon
request.

NOTICE TO OPERATORS, MAINTENANCE AND CLEANUP PERSONNEL
REMOVE ANY MALFUNCTIONING TOOL FROM SERVICE
REPORT ANY PROBLEMS TO YOUR SUPERVISOR
1. Always wear eye protection in accordance with OSHA’s eye and face protection requirements (29
CFR 1910.133), and when needed, a dust mask.
2. Disconnect the power supply in accordance with OSHA’s lockout/tagout procedures (29 CFR
1910.147) before changing the blade.
3. Disconnect the power supply in accordance with OSHA’s lockout/tagout procedures (29 CFR
1910.147) before performing any repair or maintenance.
4. Disconnect the power supply -- or have the power supply disconnected - in accordance with OSHA’s
lockout/tagout procedures (29 CFR 1910.147) before performing any cleanup.
5. Disconnect the power supply when the tool is not in use.
6. Never put fingers, hands or other parts of the body on the cutting edge of the blade or in the cutting
path.
7. Test the tool prior to use or daily. Depress the trigger and the tool should start. Release the trigger
and the tool should

8. Never depress the trigger unless you are going to use or test the tool.
9. Never make any alterations to the tool. Report
stop. If the tool malfunctions, remove it from service and report or repair it im-

10. Always use both hands when starting and operating the tool to avoid the risk of possible “kick back”

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1 Install the saw above the work station from a balanc-
er if desired. Jarvis part number 4042040 is available.
2 Position power cord (item 31) for either top exit or
rear exit, as desired.
2.1 Unplug the tool.
2.2 Remove four (4) pan head screws (item 37),
electrical box cover (item 38) and gasket (item
39).
2.3 Disconnect power cord from switch (item 41).
2.4 Remove two (2) locking nuts (item 29), strain
relief connector (item 30) and plug (item 32).
2.5 Swap positions of strain relief and plug. Re-tighten nuts.
2.6 Reconnect power cord to switch.
2.7 Reinstall gasket, cover and four (4) screws.
3 Plug the 42 V, 50/60 Hz model into a 42 V power
supply. Plug the 115 V, 50/60 Hz model into a standard 115 V wall outlet. Plug the 230 V, 50/60 Hz
model into a standard 230 V wall outlet.
OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS

MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

1 MONTHLY:
1.1 Remove six (6) flat head screws (item 71), six
(6) countersink washers (item 72), bottom cover
(item 73) and gasket (item 74).
1.2 Ensure that gear case is 3/4 full of USDA approved grease. Jarvis part number 1062003 is
available. Add grease if necessary.
1.3 Replace gasket, bottom cover, washers and
screws.
2 BLADE DISASSEMBLY:
Always wear cut protective gloves when handling
blades.
2.1 Remove two (2) lock nuts (item 64) and two (2)
socket head cap screws (item 69).
2.2 Slide blade (item 93, 95 or 97) off blade support
(item 92, 94 or 96).
2.2.1 Push drive ram (item 63) into housing if
more space is required for blade removal.
3 BLADE ASSEMBLY (item 93, 95 or 97):
3.1 END CUTTING BLADE (item 93)
3.1.1 Slide blade (item 93) onto blade support
(item 92) until crimp in end of blade is
touching end of support.
3.1.2 Use soft mallet to tap end of blade toward
body of saw until the crimp in the blade
slides into the slot in the blade support.

3.1.3 Align holes in blade and drive ram (item
63).
3.1.4 Install two (2) socket head cap screws (item
69) and two (2) lock nuts (item 64) to fasten
blade. Be sure to firmly tighten screws and
lock nuts.
3.2 HEAVY DUTY / CENTER GUIDED BLADE
(item 95 or 97):
3.2.1 Slide slotted end of blade (item 95 or 97)
into the guide in the end of blade support
(item 94 or 96).
3.2.2 Push blade onto tongue on blade support.
3.2.3 Align holes in blade and drive ram (item
63).
3.2.4 Install two (2) socket head cap screws (item
69) and two (2) lock nuts (item 64) to fasten
blade. Be sure to firmly tighten screws and
lock nuts.
4 BLADE SUPPORT DISASSEMBLY:
4.1 Remove two (2) each acorn nuts (item 44), lock
washers (item 57), flange head screw (item 53)
and blade support bushings (item 54).
4.2 Remove blade support (item 92, 94 or 96).
4.3 Inspect parts for wear and replace if necessary.
5 BLADE SUPPORT ASSEMBLY:
5.1 Reverse the steps and procedures outlined in
step 4. See notes below.
5.1.1 Ensure that holes in housing (item 87) and
blade support (item 92, 94 or 96) are
aligned.
5.1.2 Blade support bushings (item 54) are a close
fit to housing (item 87) and light tapping
with a mallet may be required to install.
6 SER 200/400 DISASSEMBLY:
6.1 Remove two (2) each brush caps (item 9 ) and
brushes (item 10).
6.1.1 Mark brushes so they can be returned to the
same holder and same position.
6.2 Remove two (2) oval head screws (item 46) and
hanger bracket (item 48).
6.3 Turn saw upside down and rest on motor cover
(item 5).
6.3.1 Assembly fixture, Jarvis part number
8039075, is available to hold saw upside
down.
6.4 Remove six (6) flat head screws (item 71), six
(6) lock washers (item 72), bottom cover (item
73) and gasket (item 74).
6.5 Scoop out grease and discard.
6.6 Remove two (2) each hex head screws (item 56)
and lock washers (item 55) from front of saw.
6.7 Remove six (6) cheese head screws (item 76),
six (6) lock washers (item 77) and t wo (2) bearing clamps (item 78).
6.8 Grasp bushing (item 65) and gear (item 79) and
lift entire lower mechanism (items 58--68 and
79--84) out of housing (item 87) as a unit.
6.9 Turn saw right side up.
6.10 Remove four (4) acorn nuts (item 2). Nuts may
not separate from studs (item 22).
6.11 Lift off motor cover (item 5).
6.12 Remove end cap (item 6) and o -ring (item 7) by
pulling end cap straight up.
6.12.1 Do not pry between the end cap and motor
housing (item 12).
6.13 Remove two (2) oval head screws (item 26).
6.14 Lift off rear handle (item 25) and motor housing
(item 12) together as one unit.
6.15 Remove o-ring (item 7).
6.16 Lift off air deflector (item 15).
6.17 Lay saw on side and remove three (3) socket
head cap screws (item 85) and l ock washers
(item 86).
6.18 Pull armature (item 16) out of housing (item 87).
6.19 Gear (item 18) may be unscrewed from armature shaft.
6.20 Inspect parts for wear and replace if necessary.
7 SER 200/400 ASSEMBLY:
7.1 Reverse steps and procedures outlined in step 6.
See notes below.
7.1.1 After assembling motor ensure that armature rotates freely by hand. Do not apply
power to a binding armature.
7.1.2 Pack teeth of gears (items 18 and 79) with
grease.
7.1.3 After installing lower mechanism in housing ensure that armature rotates and linkage
slides freely by hand. Do not apply power to
a binding mechanism.
7.1.4 Reinstall brushes in the same holder and
same position from which they were removed.

8 CONNECTING LINK DISASSEMBLY:
8.1 Slide bushing (item 65) straight off drive ram
(item 63).
8.2 Remove and discard two (2) retaining rings
(item 84).
8.3 Remove four (4) shims (item 83) and two (2)
connecting links (item 81) from connecting pins
(item 75 and 80).
8.4 Remove and discard retaining ring (item 61)
from connecting pin (item 59) in counterweight
piston (item 60).
8.5 Press out connecting pin (item 59) in counterweight piston (item 60).
8.6 Remove and discard retaining ring (item 61)
from connecting pin (item 59) in drive ram (item
63).
8.7 Press out connecting pin in drive ram (item 63).
Be careful not to bend “fork” on drive ram.
8.7.1 Assembly tool, Jarvis part number
8039082, is available to aid in disassembly.
8.8 Inspect parts for wear and replace if necessary.
9 CONNECTING LINK ASSEMBLY:
9.1 Reverse steps and procedures outlined in step 8.
See notes below.
9.1.1 Head of connecting pins (item 59) must seat
in counterbores of counterweight piston
(item 60) and drive ram (item 63).
9.1.2 When pressing connecting pin (item 59)
into drive ram (item 63) be careful not to
bend “fork” on drive ram.
9.1.2.1 Assembly tool, Jarvis part number
8039082, is available.
9.1.3 Retaining rings (items 61 and 84) must be
discarded once they have been removed. Do
not reuse them.
9.1.4 Before assembling with other parts, individually coat with grease the sliding surfaces of
items 60, 63, 65, 79, 81 and 83.
9.1.5 Pack bearings and bushings (items 58, 62
and 82) and gear teeth (items 18 and 79)
with grease.
10 MOTOR AND SWITCH DISASSEMBLY:
10.1 Remove four (4) pan head screws (item 37),
electrical box cover (item 38) and gasket (item
39).
10.2 Loosen locking nut (item 29).
10.3 Loosen four (4) screws attaching wires from stator (item 13), capacitor (item 40) and power cord
(item 31) to switch (item 41).
10.4 Remove strain relief connector (item 30) and
power cord (item 31).
10.5 Remove two (2) cheese head screws (item 33)
and clamp (item 34).
10.6 Remove cheese head screw (item 33) and switch
(item 41).
10.7 Squeeze trigger (item 24) and remove plunger
(item 35).
10.8 Remove two (2) pan head screws (item 14) and
stator (item 13) from motor housing (item 12).
10.9 Inspect parts for wear and replace if necessary.
11 MOTOR AND SWITCH ASSEMBLY:
11.1 Reverse steps and procedures outlined in step
10. See notes below.
11.1.1 Lubricate plunger (item 35) before assembling.
11.1.2 Feed wires from stator (item 13) through
hole in motor housing (item 12) into handle
(item 25).
11.1.3 Reattach capacitor (item 40) to stator side of
switch.
