Jaeger-leCoultre Master Hometime User Manual

Introduction
Congratulations on the purchase of your Jaeger‑LeCoultre watch, and thank you for your confidence.
Designed for men criss‑crossing multiple time‑zones on a daily basis, the Master Hometime watch features a travel time‑ zone display function tracking the time in another part of the world, without affecting the minute hand and complete with a date correction function. A second hand indicates the zone of origin time, while driving its associated day/night indicator.
Please check out the operating instructions for your Jaeger‑ LeCoultre timepieces: we hope that you will be very happy with it.
Accuracy
Manual or automatic winding mechanical models
The accuracy of the mechanical movement watch models is determined by the balance. The latter performs 21,600 or 28,800 vibrations per hour, depending on the model (see technical specifications applicable to each model).
Despite all the care with which the Manufacture Jaeger‑ LeCoultre master watchmakers have made and assembled your watch, its accuracy is subject to the influence of gravity, magnetic fields, impacts and ageing of the oils. Watch accuracy is measured by rate regularity in a variety of positions.
The nature of your constitution or lifestyle may lead to slight irregularities. If you obser ve significant irregular running of your watch, you are advised to take it to an authorised Jaeger‑ LeCoultre retailer, who will make any necessary adjustments.
Quar tz models
Quartz models are accurate within two to three minutes per year.
Jaeger‑LeCoultre quar tz watches contain a battery and electronic components. In a ser vice operation, your official Jaeger‑LeCoultre Service Centre or your authorised Jaeger‑LeCoultre retailer will collect and
dispose of them in accordance with current standards.
Water‑resistance
Jaeger‑LeCoultre Master Hometime watches are water‑ resistant to 5 bar/atm. This property can be identified by the
symbol engraved on the case‑back. This means that you can use your watch during shor t swims or when diving in from the edge, but not from a diving board. Nor should it be used for undersea diving or for spor ts where there are significant risks of hard knocks, such as windsurfing and water‑ skiing. Please also note that leather straps are not suited to water sports.
Furthermore, it is essential to have your watch’s water‑ resistance checked by an authorised Jaeger‑LeCoultre retailer at least once every 2 years, and definitely before any period in which it will undergo prolonged and/or regular immersion.

«1000 Hours Control» test by Jaeger‑LeCoultre
Jaeger‑LeCoultre subjects each of its watches to the rigourous “1000 Hours Control” test programme. Unique in its kind, this programme consists of 1000 hours of comprehensive, stringent checks.
The “1000 Hours Control” seal or marking affixed or engraved on the back of your watch certifies that it has undergone this obser vation programme in our laboratories and has passed all the tests. These comprise rate regularity checks, temperature and atmospheric pressure tests, impact and magnetic field resistance tests, as well as water‑resistance tests. Your watch is therefore capable of withstanding the trials awaiting it in everyday life when you wear it on your wrist.
The criteria of the “1000 Hours Control” programme go far beyond the official timekeeping test standards, which concern only par t of the movement. Jaeger‑LeCoultre tests not only the movement before casing it within the watch, but also the watch as a whole.
Technical specifications
‑ Automatic winding mechanical movement,
Calibre 975H.
‑ 28,800 vibrations/hour.
‑ Power‑reser ve: approximately 48 hours.
Movement
Functions
The Master Hometime watch model features a double set of hands which enables the local time on the main display to be changed rapidly by moving the corresponding hand forward or backward in 1‑hour jumps, while maintaining a reference time by means of a second hour hand, with a 24‑ hour indicator at 12 o’clock. The watch offers the following functions:
‑ Rapid, independent 2‑way local time adjustment (travel
time‑zone).
‑ Date synchronised with local time; 2‑way adjustment.
‑ Reference time (blue hand).
‑ 24‑hour indicator linked to the reference time.
‑ Minute and small seconds.
Given these functions, if you display a local time identical to the reference time, the two hour hands will be superimposed.
You may use the local time and reference time displays as you wish, for example:
‑ Indicate the same time in the local time display and
reference time display; the two hands will then be superimposed, offering a classic display.
‑ Set a different time on the main display while keeping the
reference time on the additional hand (blue hand).
‑ Set another time‑zone on the reference time display.
‑ Indicate the official GMT time on the reference time
display, so as to deduce the time in any time‑zone based on its difference relative to GMT time, and then display it on the local hands.
Whichever option you choose, the local time function enables you to move the hour hand of the main display rapidly in 1‑hour jumps, in either direction, simultaneously driving the date.
This mechanism thus enables you to set a different time in a few steps, without losing the accuracy of the minute and seconds hands. It is very useful when travelling in order to display the time in the relevant time‑zone, while keeping the time in the country of origin on the secondary reference displays.
On returning from your trip, you can restore your home time to the main display just as quickly.

Use
The crown on the Master Hometime watch enables you to do the following:
‑ In position 1, wind the watch if it has not been worn for
over 48 hours;
‑ In position 2, set the local time (travel time‑zone) and
date;
‑ In position 3, set the reference time, which drives the
central blue hand and the 12 o’clock counter hand.
Starting the watch
Pull the crown out to position 1.
A few clockwise turns of the crown are enough to set the watch running. It will then automatically wind up when you wear it. Please note that the crown does not lock when winding, even when the watch is fully wound.
Setting the reference time
This setting drives all the functions: reference time, local time, minute, date and seconds. It firstly enables you to set the reference time hour hand, and also to make an accurate minute and seconds setting.
Pull the crown out to position 3.
The movement is then locked (“stop seconds” function). To enable accurate setting with a time signal, stop the seconds hand at 60.
Move the reference time hour hand and the minute hand either way until the desired time, taking into account the 24‑ hour indicator on the counter at 12 o’clock.
Note: during this operation, the local time hour hand is automatically driven (along with the date), while maintaining its difference from the reference time; this is normal, so there is no need to worry about this step!
Upon the time signal, push the crown back into position 1. The watch starts r unning again.
Setting the local time (main display)
Use and adjusting the date
Pull the crown out to position 2.
You may turn the crown in either direction, as the main hour hand and the date are driven either forward or backward depending on the chosen direction. Note that to correct the date by one day, the local time hand must complete two revolutions of the dial. The minute hand and the small seconds hand keep running so as to maintain accurate setting. The hour hand moves in 1‑hour jumps.
Setting the date
Turn the crown forward or backward (depending on the closest distance between the indicated date and the desired date), and turn the hour hand as many times as necessary until the desired date is displayed.
Setting the local time
After setting the date, move the local time forward or backward past midnight to display the desired time, in order to take account of the date indication. ‑ You have turned the crown clockwise: if the date moves
forward when the hands pass midnight, you are moving into the morning.
‑ You have turned the crown counter‑clockwise: if the date
moves backward when the hands pass midnight, you are moving back into the evening.
When the operation is completed, push the crown back into position 1.
