Introduction
We congratulate you on the acquisition of your Jaeger-LeCoultre watch, and thank you for your con dence in us.
We invite you to consult the operating instructions and hope your JaegerLeCoultre timepiece brings you great enjoyment.
Accuracy and precautions for use
Manually-wound or automatic mechanical watches
The accuracy of watch models with mechanical movements is determined by the balance. This oscillates at a rate of 21,600 or 28,800 vibrations per hour. Despite all the care that the master watchmakers of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Manufacture have lavished on building and assembling your watch, its accuracy is subject to the in uence of gravity, magnetic  elds, accidental impacts and the ageing of the oils. The accuracy of a watch is measured by its regularity of rate in various positions.
Your individual temperament and your activities could be the cause of slight irregularities. If you observe a discrepancy in the running of your watch, we advise you to entrust it to an authorised Jaeger-LeCoultre retailer who will perform the necessary adjustments. Watches with mechanical movements must not be used for sports involving signi cant risk of impact or abrupt actions, such as golf or tennis for example.
Quartz models
Quartz models are accurate to within 2 to 3 minutes a year. Jaeger-LeCoultre quartz
watches contain a battery and electronic elements. When performing maintenance, your of cial Jaeger-LeCoultre Service Centre or your authorised Jaeger-LeCoultre retailer will recover such components and ensure they are disposed of in accordance with the standards in force.
Water resistance
Your Jaeger-LeCoultre watch is water-resistant to 10 bar/atm. The water resistance of your watch is identi able by the symbol engraved on the back. This means that your timepiece has been tested at an overpressure of 10 bar, corresponding to an immersion pressure of 100 metres (1 bar/atm = approx. 10 metres).
Page 4
30
In accordance with the ISO 22810/NIHS 92-20 standard, in order to guarantee the durability of the watch's characteristics over time and as the water resistance may be affected by certain activities, it is recommended that the user:
- have the water resistance of the watch checked by an authorised JaegerLeCoultre retailer, in accordance with the recommendations of the JaegerLeCoultre Manufacture and at any event after each opening of the case, in which case it is advisable to perform an air overpressure test
- check when making the purchase that the strap or bracelet is suitable for the intended use
- avoid subjecting the watch to excessively abrupt temperature changes
- protect the watch from being dropped or suffering other shocks (having the watch checked after any violent impact)
- avoid the use of the controls, push-piece or time-setting crown while under water or before the watch has dried after immersion
- be sure to restore the time-setting crown and the push-pieces to their normal position (or, where applicable, close the compression keys) after every manipulation
- rinse the watch with fresh water after use in sea-water.
Furthermore, it is vital to have the water resistance of your watch checked by an authorised Jaeger-LeCoultre retailer at least once every two years, and at any event before any period during which it is liable to undergo prolonged and/or regular immersions.
“1000 Hours Control” test
Jaeger-LeCoultre submits all its watches to the stringent “1000 Hours Control”, a unique battery of comprehensive and rigorous internal tests lasting a full 1000 hours.
The “1000 Hours Control” seal or legend placed or engraved on the back of your watch certi es that the latter has undergone this programme of observation in our laboratories and has successfully passed all the tests relating to regularity of rate, temperature, atmospheric pressure, resistance to shocks and magnetic  elds, as well as water-resistance trials. Your watch is thus capable of withstanding the daily stresses and strains that await it when worn on your wrist.
Page 5
31
English
The criteria of the “1000 Hours Control” programme considerably exceed the standards of of cial timing tests, which deal only with part of the movement.
Jaeger-LeCoultre tests not only the movement prior to its being cased up in the watch, but also the watch as a whole.
Compression keys
The patented compression key system, which is  tted to the crowns of the Master Compressor line models, can apply strong compression to one of the four crown seals, thereby ensuring impeccable long-term water-resistance.
The position of the compression key, “open” or “closed”, is indicated by the arrow symbols (viewed from the front):
- If the indication is a white arrow, the compression key is in the compressed seal position (“closed”); the key must be closed when you wear your watch and when you are taking part in sporting activities. You must not make any adjustments or set the time in this position, since this might damage the gaskets.
- If the indication is represented by two red arrows, the compression key is in the non-compressed seal position (“open”); in this con guration, you may proceed to start the watch and adjust the functions according to the indications below.
The transition from the “closed” to the “open” position, or vice-versa, is performed by turning the key using the wings in the direction indicated by the arrow(s).
Note The water-resistance function of the compression key is separate from the op-
eration of the crown itself. Even in the closed position, the key does not lock the

crown. So in practice it is possible to operate the crown when the key is in the compressed gasket position. However, as mentioned earlier, it is extremely inadvisable to make adjustments in this position, since this might damage the gaskets. We recommend that you  rst turn the compression key to the “open” position before making any adjustments to your watch.
Adjusting the bracelet
You can adjust your steel bracelet yourself. However, if you have a gold model, we advise you to entrust it to the nearest approved Jaeger-LeCoultre retailer, or to contact one of our of cial Service Centres listed at the end of the guarantee or warranty document.
Adjusting the steel bracelet
Place the watch on your wrist. You can thus see how many links need to be added or removed.
Remove your watch by simultaneously pressing the push-pieces on either side of the clasp.
Hold the bracelet near the clasp. Using the adjustment tool, press the end of the bar (g. 1) and lift up the link (g. 2). Avoid the two links on either side of the clasp.
Proceed in the same way for the following link (g. 3) if you want to remove a single row of links (or the second, third, etc. if you want to remove two, three, or more rows of links).
Take out the two bars (g. 4).

Crown A is then in position 1. A few clockwise turns of the crown are enough to set the watch running. It will then automatically wind up when you wear it. Please note that the crown does not lock when winding, even when the watch is fully wound.
When the operation is completed, turn the compression key to the “closed” position in the direction of the arrows.
Setting the time
Crown A Turn the compression key to the “open” position in the direction of the arrow. Then pull crown A out to position 3. The movement is then locked (“stop seconds” function). In order to set the time to the nearest second, pull the crown to stop the
second- ow disk when the second display appears either entirely white or entirely red.
Move the hands forward clockwise to the desired time and, on the hour signal, push the crown back to position 1. The watch starts running again.
When the operation is completed, turn the compression key to the “closed” position in the direction of the arrows.

Setting the date
Crown A Turn the compression key to the “open” position in the direction of the arrow. Then pull crown A out to position 2. Move the date forward by turning the crown anti-clockwise. Perform the re-
quired number of turns until the desired date is displayed.
Note: date correction should not be performed between 10.30 p.m. and 3.30 a.m. During this period the automatic date-change mechanism is already in action.
When the operation is completed, push the crown back to position 1 and turn the compression key to the “closed” position in the direction of the arrows.
Operating the chronograph
The central seconds hand on the Master Compressor Extreme World Chronograph displays the chronograph seconds to the nearest eighth of a second. A counter located at 3 o’clock tallies the minutes up to 30 minutes (after one revolution it will start counting another 30 minutes). Another counter at 9 o’clock tallies the hours up to 12 hours (after one revolution it will start counting another 12 hours).
- Push-piece at 2 o’clock: this push-piece starts and stops the chronograph function.
- Push-piece at 4 o’clock: this push-piece resets the counters and the central seconds hand. When timing is in progress, pressing this push-piece has no effect.
Each of these two push-pieces features a wing-nut with a patented compression system. This enables additional compression of one of the three pushpiece gaskets, to ensure optimum water resistance.
Another advantage of this system is that it enables the push-pieces to be locked in the “closed” position, thereby preventing any unintentional operation of the chronograph.
To use the chronograph functions, move the push-pieces into the “open” position by turning the wing-nuts a quarter-turn downward for the push-piece at 2 o’clock (for starting and stopping) and upward for the push-piece at 4 o’clock
Page 13
39
English
(for resetting). The non-compressed gasket position (“open”) will be indicated by an arrow (front view of watch).
Timing
- The chronograph is activated by pressing the push-piece at 2 o’clock once. The central seconds hand will turn, and the minute and hour counters will run. Pressing the push-piece at 2 o’clock again will stop the chronograph, enabling the time measurement to be read.
- Reset by pressing the push-piece at 4 o’clock to be ready to perform another time measurement.
- It is possible to add up several timing operations by pressing again on the push-piece at 2 o’clock (without having to reset the counters).
Timing is re-started and is added to the previous measurement. Once the timing operation is complete, move the push-pieces to the com-
pressed gasket (“closed”) position by turning the wing-nuts in the direction shown by the arrows, i.e. a quarter-turn upward for the push-piece at 2 o’clock (for starting and stopping), and a quarter-turn downward for the push-piece at 4 o’clock (for resetting).
World time function
Your watch features an ingenious system of world time display that can tell the time simultaneously in 24 cities around the world.
The simultaneous reading of the time in the world’s 24 time zones is thus possible thanks to the city disc and the 24-hour turning ring. This reading necessitates a pre-setting involving setting the local time zone by positioning the corresponding city at 6 o’clock (the reference time for the mechanism).
Compressed seal position
(“closed”)
Position of seal without compression
(“open”)
Page 14
40
How to proceed
- Set the hour and minute according to the instructions above (local time).
- Crown C (one single position, not pulled out) moves the city disc: turn the crown either way in order to display the city which corresponds to your local time next to the numeral ‘6’ on the dial (i.e. at 6 o’clock).
- The 24-hour ring will now display the same time as your local time opposite the number ‘6’ and therefore opposite the reference city which you placed in this position.
Once this pre-setting is completed:
- The city disc will not move.
- The 24-hour ring will turn in unison with local time (the time in your reference city), but will go round the dial once in 24 hours. The time in each city will be updated in accordance with the local time.
- You can thus read whenever you wish the time in any of the cities indicated on the city disc by reading the hour opposite the relevant city on the 24-hour ring, and the central minute hand.
- If you move into another time-zone, the operation will need to be repeated so as to display at 6 o’clock the new reference city corresponding to the new time zone.

Note: Regions where the of cial time differs by a fraction of an hour (India, Nepal, Iran) are not included in the city disc.
Case shock-absorbing system
Your watch case is equipped with a mechanism that enables it to absorb accidental impacts and thus protect the movement. The case is made up of two sections:
- The central section, made of titanium, is a water-resistant case protecting the movement.
- The external section consists of the bottom support for the bezel.
The case containing the movement is housed inside the support and can move in a vertical direction. In the event of an impact, an air-cushion mechanism absorbs 50% of the force of the shock.
Page 16

Interchangeable strap system
The base of your watch case is tted with an integrated interchangeability system allowing the strap to be changed easily. It consists of a push-button which shifts part of the space between the horns to release the strap’s spring bar from its housing in the lugs.
Removing the strap sections from the case
- Hold the back of the watch case between the thumb and fore nger of one hand (A).
- Hold the strap section between the thumb and forenger of your other hand (B).
- With the thumb of hand B, push the button rmly against the case, and while maintaining the pressure pull the strap section toward you to remove it.
- Proceed in the same way for the other section.

Fitting the strap sections onto the case
- Hold the back of the watch case between the thumb and fore nger of one hand.
- Hold the strap section between the thumb and fore nger of your other hand, and position its spring bar in the lug housings.
- Keeping the strap parallel to the case, insert the spring bar  rmly into the housings.
If you change straps, you can t the folding clasp on your new strap:
Removing the folding buckle
- With one hand hold the strap section, and take the tool in the other hand. Position the tool vertically on the end of the visible spring bar. Press vertically, and the spring bar will be released.
- While maintaining pressure on the spring bar, tilt the strap section outward to release it.
Re tting the folding buckle
- Place one end of the strap section spring bar in the appropriate clasp housing.
- With one hand hold the strap section in the housing, and take the tool in the other hand. Position the tool vertically on the other end of the spring bar. Press vertically.
- While maintaining pressure on the spring bar, bring the strap section back against the clasp. Release the pressure on the bar at the last minute so that the spring has time to insert the bar in its housing.
