Introduction
We congratulate you on the acquisition of your Jaeger-LeCoultre watch, and thank you for your con dence.
We invite you to consult the operating instructions and hope your Jaeger-LeCoultre timepiece brings you great enjoyment.
Accuracy and precautions for use
Manually-wound or automatic mechanical watches
Accuracy is ensured by the balance, which completes 28,800 vibrations per hour. Despite all the care that the master-watchmakers of the Manufacture JaegerLeCoultre have lavished on building and assembling your watch, its accuracy is subject to the in uence of gravity, magnetic  elds, impacts, as well as ageing of the oils. The precision of a watch is measured by its regularity of rate in various positions.
Your individual temperament and your activities may result in slight irregularities. If you observe a discrepancy in the running of your watch, we advise you to entrust it to an authorised Jaeger-LeCoultre retailer who will perform the necessary adjustments. Watches with mechanical movements must not be used while practicing sports which may involve impacts or abrupt actions, such as golf or tennis for example.
Water-resistance
Jaeger-LeCoultre watches are water-resistant from 3 to 10 bar/atm, depending on the model (see technical specications). This property can be identied by the symbol engraved on the case-back. This means that your timepiece has been tested at an immersion pressure corresponding to between 30 and 100 metres, according to the number of bar appearing next to the abovementioned symbol (1 bar = approx. 10 metres).
In accordance with the ISO 22810/NIHS 92-20 standards, in order to guarantee the durability of the watch’s characteristics over time and as the waterresistant sealant may be affected by certain activities, it is recommended that the user:
- have the water-resistance of the watch checked by an approved JaegerLeCoultre dealer, in accordance with the recommendations of the Jaeger-
English
26
LeCoultre Manufacture and at any event after each opening of the case, in which case it is recommended that the test be carried out with increased air pressure
- check when making the purchase that the bracelet is suitable for the intended use
- avoid subjecting the watch to excessively abrupt temperature changes
- protect the watch from being dropped or suffering other shocks (having the watch checked after any violent impact)
- avoid the use of the controls, push-piece or time-setting crown while under water or before the watch has dried after immersion
- be sure to restore the time-setting crown and the push-pieces to their normal position (or, where applicable, close the compression key) after every manipulation
- rinse the watch with fresh water after use in seawater.
You may use your watch during short swims, and when jumping in from the edge of a swimming pool, but not from a diving board. Your watch must not be used for scuba diving, nor for sports involving signi cant risk of impact, such as windsur ng or water-skiing. Also note that leather straps are not suited to aquatic activities.
Furthermore, it is vital to have your watch’s water-resistance checked by an authorised Jaeger-LeCoultre retailer at least once every two years and, in all cases, before any period during which it is liable to undergo prolonged and/or regular immersions.
“1000 Hours Control” test
Jaeger-LeCoultre submits all its watches to the stringent “1000 Hours Control”, a unique battery of comprehensive and rigorous internal tests lasting a full 1000 hours.
The “1000 Hours Control” seal or legend placed or engraved on the back of your watch certi es that the latter has undergone this programme of observation in our laboratories and has successfully passed all the tests relating to regularity of rate, temperature, atmospheric pressure, resistance to shocks and magnetic  elds, as well as water-resistance trials. Your watch is thus capable of withstanding the daily stresses and strains that await it when worn on your wrist.
The criteria of the “1000 Hours Control” programme considerably exceed the standards of of cial timing tests, which deal only with part of the movement.
Jaeger-LeCoultre tests not only the movement prior to its being cased up in the watch, but also the watch as a whole.

Compression keys
The compression key tted on the crowns of Master Compressor line watches is a patented system enabling additional compression of one of the 4 crown gaskets, which boosts your watch’s long-term water-resistance.
The “open” or “closed” position of the compression key at 3 o’clock is indicated by the arrow symbols (viewed from the front):
- The compression key is in the compressed gasket position (“closed”) if the indicator shows only one arrow; the keys must be closed when you wear your watch and when you are taking part in sports. You must not make any adjustments or set the time in this position, since this might damage the gaskets.
- The compression key is in the non-compressed gasket position (“open”) if the indication is represented by two arrows; in this conguration, you can start the watch and set the functions as per the explanations below.
The switch from “closed” to “open” position, or vice-versa, is made by turning the key using the wing-nuts in the direction indicated by the arrow(s).
Note
The water-resistance function of the compression key is separate from the operation of the crown itself. Even in the closed position, the key does not lock the crown. So in practice it is possible to operate the crown when the key is in the compressed gasket position. However, as mentioned earlier, it is extremely inadvisable to make adjustments in this position, since this might damage the gaskets. We recommend that you rst turn the compression key to the “open” position before making any adjustments to your watch.

Master Compressor Diving, divers’ watches meeting the NIHS 92-11 (ISO 6425) standards
Master Compressor Diving line watches that bear the title “diving watches” satisfy the requirements of the Swiss Watchmaking Industry Standard (NIHS) 92-11, reproducing the European standard ISO 6425.
Warning
As a precaution, we draw your attention to the following two recommendations:
- You must not adjust the crowns in water,
- You must not use Master Compressor Diving watches for deep dives (diving with a gas mixture, with the diver spending alternating periods between the water and a pressurised chamber), or dives to a depth greater than that indicated.
Technical speci cations
- Automatic movement, Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 757.
- 28,800 vibrations/hour.
- Power reserve: approximately 65 hours.

Use
Starting the watch
Crown A
29
Turn the compression key to the “open” position in the direction of the arrow. Crown A will then be in position 1. A few clockwise turns of the crown will sufce to start the watch. It will then automatically wind up when you wear it. Please note that the crown does not lock on winding, even when the watch is fully wound.
Once the operation is complete, turn the compression key to the “closed” position in the direction of the arrows.
Setting the hour and minute
Crown A Turn the compression key to the “open” position in the direction of the arrow.
Then pull crown A out to position 3. The movement will be locked and the operating indicator will stop. Move the
hands clockwise until the desired time is displayed. Once the operation is complete, push the crown back into position 1. The watch will start running again. Then turn the compression key to the “closed” position in the direction of the arrows.
Operating indicator
The seconds disc completes one revolution in 60 seconds. It also shows you that the watch is running.
Setting the date
Crown A
123
English
30
Turn the compression key to the “open” position in the direction of the arrow. Then pull crown A out to position 2. This timepiece features a date display window at 4 o’clock and a rapid correction system. If you have to move the date one day forward, turn crown A (in position 2) anti-clockwise. Repeat the operation until the desired date is displayed. For months with less than 31 days, follow the same procedure to move on to the 1st of the month.
Once the operation is complete, push crown A back into position 1 and turn the compression key to the “closed” position in the direction of the arrows. NB: date correction should not be performed between 10.30 p.m. and 3.30 a.m. During this period the automatic date change mechanism is already in action.
Setting the second time zone
Crown A Turn the compression key to the “open” position in the direction of the arrow.
Then pull crown A out to position 2. Turn crown A (in position 2) clockwise. The second time zone hour hand
will make one-hour jumps. This mechanism actuates the day/night indicator at 12 o’clock. Move the hand forward to the desired time, taking into account the day/night indicator.
Once the operation is complete, push the crown back into position 1. The watch will start running again. Then turn the compression key to the “closed” position in the direction of the arrows.
Chronograph operation
The central seconds hand on the Master Compressor Diving Chronograph GMT Navy SEALs® watch displays the chronograph seconds with an eighthof-a-second denition. A counter located at 3 o’clock tallies the minutes up to 30 minutes (after 1 revolution it will start counting another 30 minutes). Another counter at 9 o’clock tallies the hours up to 12 hours (after one revolution it will start counting another 12 hours).
- Pushpiece at 2 o’clock: this pushpiece starts and stops the chronograph function.
- Pushpiece at 4 o’clock: this pushpiece resets the counters and the central seconds hand. When timing is in progress, pressing this push-piece has no effect.
Each of these 2 push-pieces features a wing-nut with patented compression system. This enables additional compression of one of the 3 push-piece gaskets,
31
to ensure optimum water-resistance. Another benet of this system: it enables the push-pieces to be locked in the closed position, thereby preventing any unintentional operation of the chronograph.
To enable use of the chronograph functions, move the push-pieces into the “open” position by turning the wing-nuts a quarter-turn downward. The noncompressed gasket position (“open”) will be indicated by an arrow (front view of watch).
Timing
- The chronograph is activated by pressing the push-piece at 2 o’clock once. The central seconds hand will turn, and the minute and hour timing counters will run. Pressing the push-piece at 2 o’clock again will stop the chronograph, enabling the timing measurement to be read.
- Reset by pressing the push-piece at 4 o’clock to make another timing measurement.
- It is possible to add together several timing measurements by pressing the push-piece at 2 o’clock again (without resetting the counters). Timing is restarted, and is added to the previous measurement.
Once the timing operation is complete, move the push-pieces to the compressed gasket (“closed”) position by turning the wing-nuts a quarter-turn upward, in the direction shown by the single arrow.
Diving bezel
Your Master Compressor Diving Chronograph GMT Navy SEALs® watch features a unidirectional rotating bezel (i.e. one that can only be turned anti-clockwise), with a mark every minute.
It can measure a particular time using the luminescent white triangular marker as a reference point in relation to the hour hand or minute hand.
