Jaeger-leCoultre Master Compressor Diving Alarm Navy Seals User Manual

Introduction
Congratulations on the purchase of your Jaeger-LeCoultre watch, and thank you for your confidence.
Produced in partner ship with the elite divers of the American armed forces, the United States Navy SEALs, this new generation of diving watches is distinguished by a case with extreme high-pressure resistance. A genuine professional diving tool inspired by the equipment of this special unit, the Master Compressor Diving Alarm Navy SEALs offers perfect readability thanks to oversized and luminescent-coated numerals, indexes and hands. The unidirectional bezel enables elapsed diving times to be calculated via its luminescent reference triangle.
Please check through the operating instructions for your Jaeger-LeCoultre timepiece: we hope that you will be very happy with it.
Accuracy
Accuracy is ensured by the balance, which completes 28,800 vibrations per hour.
Despite all the care with which the Manufacture Jaeger-LeCoultre master watchmakers have made and assembled your watch, its accuracy is subject to the influence of gravity, magnetic fields, impacts and ageing of the oils. Watch accuracy is measured by rate regularity in a variety of positions.
The nature of your constitution or lifestyle may lead to slight irregularities. If you observe irregular running of your watch, you are advised to take it to an authorised Jaeger-LeCoultre retailer, who will make any necessary adjustments.
Water-resistance
Jaeger-LeCoultre watches are water-resistant to 3, 5, 10, 20, 30 or 100 atm, depending on the model (see technical specifications). This property can be identified by the
symbol engraved on the case-back. This means that your timepiece has been tested to an immersion pressure equivalent to 30, 50, 100, 200, 300 or 1000 metres, according to the number of atmospheres shown beside the aforementioned symbol (1 atm = 10 metres).
You can use your watch while swimming or diving from the edge, but not from a diving board. Please also note that leather straps are not suited to water sports.
It is essential to have your watch’s water-resistance regularly checked by an authorised Jaeger-LeCoultre retailer, and definitely before a period of intensive use.
The «1000 Hours Control» test by Jaeger-LeCoultre
Jaeger-LeCoultre subjects each of its watches to the rigourous “1000 Hours Control” test programme. Unique in its kind, this programme consists of 1000 hours of comprehensive, stringent checks.
The “1000 Hours Control” seal or marking affixed or engraved on the back of your watch certifies that it has undergone this observation programme in our laboratories and has passed all the tests, relating to rate regularity, temperature and atmospheric pressure, resistance to impacts and magnetic fields, as well as water-resistance. Your watch is therefore capable of withstanding the trials awaiting it in everyday life when you wear it on your wrist.
The criteria of the “1000 Hours Control” programme go far beyond the official timekeeping test standards, which concern only part of the movement. Jaeger-LeCoultre tests not only the movement before casing it within the watch, but also the watch as a whole.

Compression keys
The compression key fitted on the crowns of Master Compressor line watch models is a patented system which enables additional compression of one of the 4 crown gaskets, which boosts your watch’s water-resistance in the long term.
The “open” or “closed” position of the compression key is indicated by the arrow symbols (viewed from the front):
- The compression key is in the compressed gasket position (“closed”) if the indicator shows only one arrow; the keys must be closed when you are wearing your watch and when you are taking part in spor ts. You must not make any adjustments or set the time in this position, since this might damage the gaskets.
- The compression key is in the non-compressed gasket position (“open”) if the indication is represented by two arrows; in this configuration, you can start the watch and set the functions as per the explanations below.
The switch from “closed” to “open” position, or vice-versa, is made by turning the key using the wing-nuts in the direction indicated by the arrow(s).
Note
The water-resistance function of the compression key is separate from the operation of the crown itself. Even in the closed position, the key does not lock the crown. Therefore in practice it is possible to manipulate the crown when the key is in the compressed gasket position. However, as mentioned earlier, it is extremely inadvisable to make adjustments in this position, since this might damage the gaskets. We recommend that you first turn the compression key to the “open” position before making any adjustments to your watch.
Master Compressor Diving, diving watches satisfying the NIHS 92-11 (ISO 6425) standards
Master Compressor Diving line watches that bear the title “diving watches” satisfy the requirements of the Swiss Watchmaking Industry Standard (NIHS) 92-11, reproducing the European standard ISO 6425.
Warning
As a precaution, we draw your attention to the following two recommendations:
- You must not adjust the crowns in water,
- You must not use Master Compressor Diving watches for deep dives (diving with a gas mixture, with the diver spending alternating periods between the water and a pressurised chamber), or dives to a depth greater than that indicated.

Movement
Use
Starting the watch
Turn the compression key to the “open” position in the direction of the arrow. Crown B is then in position 1.
A few clockwise turns of the crown will suffice to start the watch. It will then automatically wind up when you wear it. Please note that the crown does not lock when winding, even when the watch is fully wound.
When the operation is completed, turn the compression key to the “closed” position in the direction of the arrows.
Setting the hour and minute
Turn the compression key to the “open” position in the direction of the arrow. Pull crown B out to position 2. The movement will be stopped. This will in turn stop the seconds hand. Move the hands forward clockwise to the desired time. When the operation is completed, push the crown back into position 1. The watch will then start r unning again.

Operating indicator
The seconds hand completes one revolution in 60 seconds. This also shows you that the watch is running.
Setting the date
Pull crown A out to position 2. This timepiece features a date display window at 3 o’clock and a rapid correction system. If you have to move the date one day forward, turn crown A (in position 2) clockwise. Repeat the operation until the desired date is displayed. For months of less than 31 days, follow the same procedure to move on to the 1st of the month. When the operation is completed, push crown A back into position 1.
After setting the date, move the hands forward to the desired time - via 12 o’clock if it is after noon. When the operation is completed, turn the compression key to the “closed” position in the direction of the arrows.
Setting the alarm
Winding
Turn the compression key to the “open” position in the direction of the arrow. Crown A will then be in position 1. The alarm is wound by turning the crown clockwise. When winding is complete, the crown is locked.
Setting the alarm time
Pull crown A out to position 2. This function enables you to adjust the alarm’s mobile disc by turning the crown anti-clockwise, to position the triangular mark situated in the centre of the dial over the desired chime time. When the operation is completed, push crown A back into position 1.
Switching the alarm on or off
The alarm is activated when crown A is in position 1. It is stopped when the crown is in position 2. Therefore the chime can be stopped at any time by pulling out crown A. However, note that the crown must be pushed back into position 1 to ensure water-resistance. When the operation is completed, turn the compression key to the “closed” position in the direction of the arrows.
Diving bezel
The Master Compressor Diving Alarm Navy SEALs watch model features a unidirectional rotating bezel (can only be turned anti-clockwise), with an index marking every minute.
It can measure a particular time using the luminescent white triangular marker as a reference point in relation to the hour hand or minute hand.
To move the diving bezel, you need only grip it with two fingers and turn it anti-clockwise to the desired position.
Adjusting the wristlet
Note: The wristlet illustrations below may not correspond to either your wristlet or your watch, but the demonstration illustrated is completely identical and valid.
Adjusting the clasp
The clasp on metal bracelets and articulated rubber straps is fitted with an adjustment system enabling you to lengthen or shorten your wristlet by 4 mm on either side, for greater wearer comfort.
Using the fine adjustment system
Switch from the long position to the short position: Remove your watch. Hold your clasp open between the thumb and forefinger of one hand, with the wristlet section in your other hand (fig. 1).

Removing and refitting wristlets
To alter the wristlet of your Master Compressor Diving, you can remove and refit the wristlet sections.
Removing the wristlet
Refitting the wristlet
Hold the case in one hand, with the watch placed crystal down on a support.
With the other hand grip the “fork” tool supplied with the watch, and slide it between the horn and wristlet, in order to grip the wristlet bar between the teeth of the fork.
Make sure that the tool is correctly positioned on the bar, on the retractable end of its spindle.
The bar is equipped with a spindle mounted on a spring, which needs to be released. To do so, press the tool onto the bar’s retractable end, sliding it on laterally (from the opposite side of
the horn) to move the spring.
Once the spring has been released, take out the bar, and pull the wristlet section towards you to extract it.
Bar retractable
end
Insert one end of the bar into the hole in the horn of the case, and hold it firmly.
Take the tool supplied, and position it on the free retractable end of the bar. Holding the tool in this position, press sideways (from the opposite side of the horn) to push the spring back inside the bar.
Move the retracted bar to over the housing hole in the horn, and release it so as to engage the spring.
Make sure that the wristlet is properly fitted by pulling gently
on the section.
