Jacuzzi Whirlpool Bath does not recommend prolonged periods of use of the steamer. Prolonged use of the steam
system can raise the internal human body temperature excessively and impair the body's ability to regulate its internal
temperature (resulting in hyperthermia). Consult your physician about your safety and comfort before using the steam
system; limit your use of steam to 10-15 minutes until you are certain of your body's reaction. A cooling shower spray
can be used simultaneously with the steam to assist in regulating your body temperature.
Alcohol, certain drugs or medications such as tranquilizers affect a person's ability to withstand high temperatures and
may produce dangerous side effects. Do not use alcohol or drugs when using the J-Carré.
The elderly, the infirm, and children should not use the J-Carré unattended. Pregnant women and people with heart
conditions should consult their physicians before using the steamer.
The wet surface of the J-Carré can be slippery. Use care when entering and exiting.
When using the J-Carré, basic safety precautions should always be followed:
This unit is connected to a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI); This is also known as an Earth Leakage Circuit
Breaker (ELCB). Check at least once a month to be sure this is operational. With the unit operating, push in the test
button. The unit should stop operating and the trip indicator should appear. Restore the power; push to OFF, then
turn ON. The unit should now operate normally. If the interrupter fails to operate in this manner, there is a fault in the
electrical system or the GFCI and you may not be protected from an electrical shock. Turn off the power and have
a qualified electrician check the circuit before using it again.
Do not use electrically connected devices such as television, radio, or stereo speakers, lights, hair dryers, or
telephones within 1.5 m (5 feet) of the J-Carré while in use.
Read manufacturer's safety information with all optional equipment.

PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE.
Your J-Carré, as it comes from the factory, requires a GFCI 240 VAC15 AMP 3-wire circuit (2 conductor with ground) for single
(1) phase electrical service and must be in a separate circuit having no other appliance connected in that circuit. If you do
not have this kind of circuit, a qualified electrician should be called in to install the necessary wiring. Inadequately sized wiring
or locating the unit too far from the main service panel may cause a voltage drop. A drop in voltage can cause the unit to
malfunction and bring about permanent damage to the shower's electrical system. The circuit ground wire must be provided
to take advantage of the designed-in safety features of the J-Carré. Bond according to procedure described in instructions.
Caution: Without proper grounding and bonding, a system malfunction may cause fatal shock.
Electrical precautions
Lighting and electrical receptacles must be located at least 5 ft. (1.5m) from the J-Carré. Lighting located between 5 ft. and
10 ft. (1.5m and 3m) from the J-Carré must be on a circuit protected by a GFCI. Do not use electrically connected devices,
such as television, radio, telephones, stereo speakers, lights or cooking devices within 5 feet of the J-Carré while it is in
use.
Ventilation
Water which drips on the floor during exit from the J-Carré may cause a walking hazard and/or structural damage unless
proper waterproof building materials are used in the area surrounding the unit. Take into consideration, also, the high room
humidity which will exist due to use of the steamer. Providing natural or forced ventilation of the room will help maintain
comfort and minimize moisture damage to the building. Jacuzzi Whirlpool Bath is not responsible for damages resulting from
excess moisture or water spillage. Consult an architect or engineer for aid in designing your installation.
Maintenance
Cleaning the J-Carré
To clean your J-Carré, simply use a mild nonabrasive liquid detergent or commercially prepared bathtub cleaners. Do not
use abrasive cleaners. You can protect and restore the gloss to a dulled surface by applying a plastic polish specifically
designed for use on acrylic finishes (methylmethacrylate). If an acrylic polish is not available, an automotive paste wax will
do.
Repairs to the surface
Minor scratches which do not penetrate the color finish (acrylic) can be removed with 600-grit wet/dry sandpaper. Restore
the glossy finish with an acrylic polish or a comparable automotive paste wax.
Major scratches or gouges which penetrate the acrylic surface will require refinishing. Ask your dealer for special
instructions.
Inspection and Shipping Claim
Check for shipping damage upon receipt of the J-Carré. Jacuzzi Whirlpool Bath is not responsible for damage
to the J-Carré sustained during shipping. If damage is evident before unpacking, see instructions regarding
shipping claims on the outside of the carton and immediately file a claim with the carrier.
Once the J-Carré has been removed from the carton and before it is permanently installed, check the parts
completely for damage resulting from shipping or handling. All Jacuzzi Whirlpool Bath products are factory tested
for proper operation and watertight connections prior to shipping. If problems are detected, immediately notify your
Jacuzzi Whirlpool Bath dealer or Authorized Service Agent, or call Jacuzzi Whirlpool Bath, (800) 288-4002 or (510)
938-7070, for Warranty Service. (U.S.A. only)
NOTE: Damage or defects which could have been discovered and repaired prior to installation and
which are claimed after final installation of the J-Dream, are excluded from our warranty.

Installation & Operating Instructions
Read all instructions before beginning installation.
Room Construction: Important
The room where the shower unit is to be located must be constructed of materials that can withstand excessive amounts
of moisture and condensation. Large amounts of steam can be released into the room when the shower door is opened.
Providing natural or forced ventilation of the room will help maintain comfort and minimize moisture damage to the building.
Jacuzzi Whirlpool Bath is not responsible for damages resulting from excess moisture or water spillage. Consult an architect
or engineer for aid in designing your interior structure. Do not install heat lamps directly above shower unit. The clear
top will deform from excess heat.
Water Supply Required
The water supply must be capable of delivering 3 gallons (11 liters) per minute minimum to the unit within a pressure range
of 20-65 PSI (1.4-4.6 BAR). Pressures in excess of 65 PSI (4.6 BAR) must be reduced with a regulator in the supply line.
This is the amount of water and pressure required to ensure adequate performance of the J-Carré; it is not the water
consumption rate.
Electrical Power Required
See ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS for power required. Power supplied to the unit must be through a *GFCI-protected,
dedicated circuit with proper bonding and grounding. The GFCI must be located in an area that will allow access for frequent
testing.
Options Available
A pressure balancing valve is available as an option to be added to the hot and cold water supply. Use of this pressure
balancing valve will require different fittings to be provided at the water supply stub out. Consult instructions supplied with
pressure balancing valve before connecting the hot and cold water supply.
Caulking
Select a non-yellowing clear caulk suitable for bathroom use in a steam enviroment. We suggest one of the following:
(a) Red Devil Inc. #0870
(b) Ace Hardware Corp. #17600
* GFCI ( Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) is also known as an ELCB ( Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker.) This device must be
a type approved by electrical codes and standards to protect users from potential electrical hazards.

Sliding Door Adjustment
The sliding doors have been factory adjusted for shipping purposes. It will probably be necessary to readjust the
doors prior to use.
With the sliding doors in the closed position, check to make sure that the magnetic strips on each door make
contact with each other for the full length of the door. Also check to see that each door rolls smoothly.
If the magnetic latch does not engage correctly or the doors do not roll smoothly, it will be necessary to loosen
and adjust the position of the door roller or rollers to correct these conditions. It may be necessary to readjust all
(4) rollers on each door. (See illustration below.)
Caution: Do not over tighten rollers. This can result in damage.
Note: There should always be clearance between the bottom edge of the door frame and the top surface of the
lower enclosure frame to prevent the paint coating from being damaged.
After doors have been properly adjusted, install white plastic caps (provided) on all interior screw heads and hex
nuts.

To start the shower, carry out the preliminary operations A and B previously described and then proceed as follows:
C. Press the shower button 5 on the display (Fig. 2). To stop the shower, press the same button again. The green light above
5 lights when the functions starts and turns off when it stops. In case of power failure after the preliminary operations A and
B, the mixer can be used to control the shower manually.
Cascade
This feature offers the pleasant sensation of a waterfall lapping over your shoulders and body as you are comfortably seated.
To start the cascade, carry out the preliminary operations A and B previously described. Now proceed as follows:
D. Press the cascade button 4 on the display (Fig. 2) to start water delivery from the nozzles above the seats. To stop the
cascade, press the same button again. The green light above the button turns off when the flow of water stops.
11
Starting the Hydromassage
The J-Carré shower allows you to enjoy the benefits of a real hydromassage. The hydromassage is created by the
combined action of 16 water jets (four sets of four) under the pressure of an electrically powered pump. The action
of each group of four jets is alternated according to a programmed sequence which can be changed as desired.
Press the hydromassage button 6 on the display (Figure 2). All the lights relating to this functions will light up. This
function cannot be started while the small light is blinking.
E. Carry out the preliminary operation A and B previously described.
If desired, use the 9, 10, 11 and 12 buttons (Figure 2) to reduce the number of jet groups activated for the
hydromassage (never less than 2 groups). Each group of water jets is individually controlled and its operation is
illuminated on the control panel.
The system has a 45 second delay to allow for the setting of the speed of alternation and the desired jet activation.
At the end of this delay, the jet reservoir begins to fill. The reservoir takes approximately 20 seconds to fill. The system
is fully active after the reservoir is full and the green light above button 6 (Figure 2) remains steady.
F. Now press the button 6 to start the hydromassage.
G. To stop the hydromassage, press the same button 6 again.
The cycle speed of the jet groups can be changed during operation by pressing the (+) and (-) buttons. Also the groups
can be activated or cancelled by pressing the buttons. These variations can be made without stopping the
hydromassage.
When the hydromassage is switched off, all programming changes are automatically erased. Therefore, when this
function is again started, the unit will automatically be programmed to operate at an average speed of alternation
between the groups of water jets, and all four groups of jets will be active. The intensity of the hydromassage can be
adjusted on each of the 16 jet nozzles by rotating the jet as shown in Fig. 3. Rotating the jet counterclockwise will obtain
a unified and compact water jet. Rotating the jet clockwise will result in a fan shaped water jet.
FIGURE 3.
Starting the Steam Bath
The beneficial effects of a steam bath have been recognized since ancient times. The steam bath has long since become
part of every culture.
H. Press the steam bath button 1 on the display (Figure 2). At this point, the time display will indicate 00 and the green light
above button 1 will start blinking. The green light will flash (approximately 45 seconds) giving a delay for setting the water (step I)
and the steam timer from 0 to 60 minutes using the (+) and (-) buttons. The function cannot be started while the light is blinking.
I.Carry out the two preliminary operations A and B previously described. Note: A higher water temperature position of
the mixer handle (Y) when the reservoir and steamer are filling will reduce waiting time for steam.
J. After the reservoir is full, the green and yellow lights above button 1 will come on continuously, indicating the steam unit
is ready. Now press button 1 (Figure 2) again and the green light will go out and the yellow light will start flashing. This
indicates the steam bath is now operational and the yellow light remains flashing until an audible buzzer sounds and steam
begins to come out of the steam nozzle (approximately 3 1/2 minutes). The yellow light goes out after the one second buzzer
sounds and the green light comes on and remains on throughout the steam time setting. The steam bath can be turned off
at any time by depressing button 1 during the operation; this will cancel the operational sequence.
12
During the steam bath treatment, the time can always be varied by pressing the (+) and (-) buttons without interrupting the
function. Also for your convenience, a buzzer will sound when the steam timer reaches zero (00). There is a 10 second delay
before the steam bath function is cancelled. During this delay the timer can be reset to allow more steam bath operation.
The steam bath function is controlled with a safety device (indicated by a faucet with a water drop symbol on the display).
This safety device operates in the event that water has been turned off before the steam timer reaches 00. If the steam water
level drops below the minimum level, the red light (13, Figure 2) above the faucet symbol will come on and an audible signal
will sound warning that the water flow from mixer Y has stopped. This occurs approximately 5 minutes after the flow has
ceased. If water is not restored to the steamer unit at this time, the steam bath function will be cancelled.
The electronic device has a self test program which checks all functions when the powerr is turned on. All the lights on the
display turn on in a programmed test sequence lasting 8 seconds and testing 14 events. The end of the test sequence leaves
the steam digital time display (Figure 2) reading (--).
In case of power failure while the J-Carré is operating, any function will be completely cancelled. When power is restored,
the self test will activate and any desired function can be reset at this time.
The electronic unit is equipped with an internal safety program which automatically cancels any function if a program has
not been completed within 60 minutes.
Before changing from the hydromassage to the steam bath function, or vice versa, the water in the holding tank will be
automatically exchanged which requires approximately a 60 second waiting period. This is to decrease deposit buildups
in the steam generator.
Ordinary Maintenance Operations:
The shower head is equipped with a filter which must be occasionally cleaned due to limestone and other deposits. The
filter is placed between the flexible hose and the shower head. If limestone deposits are on the jet nozzles, the shape of
the water jets may be altered. Remove and clean the nozzles occasionally. Forcefully turn the nozzle counterclockwise
until a click is felt. Then remove the nozzle and clean it by soaking it in a moderate vinegar and water solution. Do not use
metal tools (such as scissors or screwdrivers, etc.) to clean the nozzle. For routine cleaning of plastic surfaces such as the
side panel, the shower wall panel, etc., use a mild liquid detergent only. Do not use abrasive cleaners, alcohol or other
solvents. Any normal polish can be used to keep acrylic surfaces shiny. The glass panels can be cleaned with any glasscleaning product available on the market. Do not use abrasives, solvents, or acetone on any part of the J-Carré.
Special Maintenance Operations, Hard Water Areas
If the steam bath is used frequently in a hard water area, particles of limestone may be deposited in the steam generator
and reduce its performance. Jacuzzi Whirlpool Bath recommends the installation of a water softener unit, in order to eliminate
or reduce limestone deposits. Jacuzzi Whirlpool Bath also recommends the installation of a particle filter because the
solenoid valve can be obstructed by large particles in the water, thus causing malfunctions.
To be sure that water conditions in your area will not require the installation of a water softener unit or a particle filter, consult
a professional plumber. In a hard water area, filter screens in the solenoid valves may become obstructed over time or with
heavy use. If the procedures under "Ordinary Maintenance Operations" do not correct a flow problem you might experience,
call a qualified service technician to inspect and clean the solenoid valve filter screens which are located in the equipment
area of the shower unit. The valves can be accessed by removing 2 screws located on the right side of the seatwall and
pivoting the seatwall inward. (See illustrations on page 7.)
