GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Your Jacuzzi® D.E. Filter combines superior water filtration with ease of operating and totally
corrosion-free construction. It uses diatomaceous earth (D.E.) which is the most efficient dirt
remover and filter medium known.

The D.E. is fed through the skimmer at initial start-up, it uniformly coats the curved vertical
filter elements which are covered with a custom fitted monofilament polypropylene filter
cloth. As pool water is pumped through the Slide Valve (optional) into the bottom of the
filter tank, the D.E. coats the filter grids and filters out even the most minute particles
resulting in clear, clean, sparkling water.

After a period of time, the accumulated dirt in the filter causes a resistance to flow, the
pressure rises, and flow diminishes. This means the dir t holding capacity of the D.E. has been
reached, and it is time to clean (backwash) your filter. With the Slide Valve in the backwash
position, the water is automatically reversed through the filter, flushing the trapped dirt,
debris and D.E. out the waste line. Once the filter is backwashed of D.E. and dirt, the Slide
Valve is manually re-sequenced to filter position and a fresh charge of D.E. is added to
resume normal filtering.

READ AND FOLLOW ALL INSTRUCTIONS

A). When installing and using this equipment, basic safety precautions must always be
followed. This filter operates under high pressure. Failure to follow instructions may result
in serious injury.
B) Make sure clamp is located properly over the filter flange. The clamp must be tightened
firmly and evenly until spring coils touch each other (See illustration step. 22, page 6.)
C) CAUTION: All suction and discharge valves must be open

when starting the system. Failure to do so could result in
severe personal injury and/ or property damage.

CAUTION: We strongly recommend having a qualied profes­sional install this product.

DESCRIPCION GENERAL

Su Filtro Jacuzzi® de T.I. con Rejilla Vertical Pro Grid combina una alta calidad de filtracion
de agua con la facilidad de operacion y una construccion totalmenta exenta de corrosion.
Esta filtro usa tierra de infusorios (T.I.), que es el mejor medio filtrante y eliminatorio de
impurezas conocido.

Normalmente, la T.I. se alimenta a traves del purificador en el arranque inicial, formando
una capa uniforme sobre los elementos curvos del filtro vertical, los cuales vienen cubiertos
desde la fabrica con una tela filtrante de polipropileno monofilar. A medida que el agua
de la piscina es bombeada por la valvula de control hacia el fondo del tanque del filtro, la
superficie de T.I., o la capa, filtra incluso las particulas mas diminutas, produciendo un agua
reluciente, limpia y transparente.

Despues de un periodo de tiempo, las impurezas acumuladas en el filtro causan resistencia

al flujo, la presion aumenta y el flujo disminuye. Esto significa que se ha llenado la capacidad
de retencion de impurezas de la T.I. y que es tiempo de limpiar (lavar a contracorriente)
su filtro. Con la valvula de control (opcional) en la posicion de lavado a contracorriente,
el agua es invertida automaticamente a traves del filtro, sacando a presion las impurezas
atrapadas, los residuos y la T.I. de la linea de desague. Una vez que el filtro ha sido lavado
a contracorriente (limpiado) y se le ha extraido la T.I y las impurezas la valvula de control
vuelve a colocarse manualmente en secuencia en la posicion de filtrado, añadiendose
entonces una carga nueva de T.I. para reanudar la posicion de Filtrado.

A). Cuando este equipo se instale y se use, deben tomarse precauciones basicas de seguridad.
Este filtro trabaja a alta presion. Si estas instrucciones no se respetan, pueden ocurrir
daños de gravedad.
B). Asegurese de que la abrazadera esta colocada correctamente sobre la pestaña del filtro.
La abrazadera debe apretarse firme y uniformemente hasta que los resortes se toquen
entre si (ver ilustracion paso 22, pagina 6).
C). ATENCION: todas las valvulas de succion y de descarga

deben estar abiertas cuando se arranque el sistema. Si esto
no se hace, pueden producirse lesiones personales graves y/o
daños a la propiedad.

PRECAUCION: Recomendamos hacer la instalacion del producto
por un profesional calicado.

FUNCTIONS OF VALVE POSITIONS

VALVE SETTING: Flow direction through valve.
FILTER: Pump top through filter bottom return - For normal

filtration and vacuuming pool through filter.
BACKWASH: Pump bottom through filter top waste - For reversing flow

for cleaning filter.
RINSE: Pump top through filter bottom waste - For initial star t-up

cleaning plus resetting filter bed after back washing.
WASTE: Pump waste for vacuuming directly to waste, lowering

pool level / draining pool.
CLOSED: No circulation past pump port - For shutting off ALL flow

to filter and pool.
RECIRCULATE: Pump return - For by-passing filter, but circulating pool

water. May be plumbed for “off-system” pool water access.
Ideal for jet-air fittings.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Pipe Tab boss provided for optional influent pressure gauge for filter air relief tube (optional).
Tap valve at either RETURN or BOTTOM port areas. DO NOT obstruct pipe threads. Always use
Teflon pipe tape or Permatex No. 2 for connections to provide a good “living” seal. Add extra
sealant if male pipe fitting is undersized.

To winterize filter and pump per manufacturer’s instructions. To drain water from valve, depress and
rotate valve handle and place handle pointer on raised portion of index hubs at any “in-between”
position. If it becomes necessary to service or gain access to the valve seat gasket, set handle in filter
position, remove cover screws and lift cover and key assembly out.

FUNCIONES DE LAS POSICIONES DE LAS
VÁLVULAS

AJUSTE DE VALVULA: Dirección de flujo a través de la válvula.
FILTRAR: Parte superior de la bomba a través del retorno del

fondo del filtro: para filtración normal y aspiración de
la piscina a través del filtro.

RESACA: Desagüe de la parte inferior de la bomba a través de
la parte superior del filtro: para invertir el flujo para
limpiar el filtro.

ENJUAGUE: Desagüe de la parte superior de la bomba a través del
fondo del filtro: para la limpieza inicial y el reajuste
del lecho del filtro después del retrolavado.

RESIDUOS: Bomba de residuos para aspirar directamente a los
residuos, bajando el nivel de la piscina / drenando la
piscina.

CERRADO: No hay circulación más allá del puerto de la bomba:
para cerrar TODO el flujo al filtro y la piscina.

RECIRCULAR: Retorno de la bomba: para filtro de derivación, pero
agua de piscina en circulación. Se puede instalar para
el acceso al agua de la piscina “fuera del sistema”.
Ideal para accesorios jet-air.

INSTRUCCIONES GENERALES

Se incluye un saliente de lengüeta de tubería para el manómetro de entrada opcional para el
tubo de alivio de aire del filtro (opcional). Golpee ligeramente la válvula en las áreas del puerto
RETORNO o INFERIOR. NO obstruya las roscas de la tubería. Utilice siempre cinta de teflón para
tuberías o Permatex No. 2 para las conexiones a fin de proporcionar un buen sello “vivo”. Agregue
sellador adicional si el accesorio de tubería macho es de menor tamaño.

Para acondicionar el filtro y la bomba para el invierno según las instrucciones del fabricante.
Para drenar el agua de la válvula, presione y gire la manija de la válvula y coloque el indicador
de la manija en la parte elevada de los cubos de índice en cualquier posición “intermedia”. Si es
necesario reparar u obtener acceso a la junta del asiento de la válvula, coloque la manija en la
posición del filtro, retire los tornillos de la cubierta y levante la cubierta y el conjunto de la llave.

Para ensamblar, coloque la llave de la válvula de manera que la abertura de la cuña esté en el
PUERTO SUPERIOR (manija en la posición de filtro). El borde plano de la orejeta del tornillo de la
cubierta debe alinearse con el borde plano de la orejeta del tornillo del cuerpo. Coloque la junta
tórica de la tapa. Asegure el ensamblaje al cuerpo con los tornillos de la tapa. Apriete los tornillos
de la tapa de manera uniforme y alterna. NO apriete demasiado.

To assemble, place valve key so that wedge opening is at TOP PORT (Handle in Filter Position).
Flat edge of cover screw lug should align with flat edge of body screw lug. Position cover o-ring.
Secure assembly to body with cover screws. Tighten cover screws evenly and alternately. DO
NOT over-tighten.

1. PUMP SELECTION AND LOCATION:

To power your filter, select a continuous duty pump designed for swimming pool or spa
service.

It is important to first determine where your pump and filter will be located. If above the
water line, a self-priming pump has the ability to lift water from a lower level and prime
automatically.

Select a pump with an average output range suitable for the filters capacity. Other
considerations are operation of hydrotherapy fittings, automatic cleaners, etc. Your dealer
will help you select the proper size pump for your system.

Para alimentar su filtro seleccione una bomba diseñada para piscinas o spas. Es impor­tante determinar el lugar donde se va a situar la bomba y el filtro, en caso de que se situe
por encima de la linea de agua, se debe utilizar una bomba de agua de elevacion auto­matica tienen la capacidad de tomar agua de el nivel inferior y elevar automaticamente.

Seleccione una bomba con una salida adecuada a la capacidad del filtro. Tambien debe
tener en cuenta aspectos como el funcionamiento de los accesorios de hidroterapia,
limpiadores automaticos, etc. Su distribuidor local le ayudara a escoger la bomba de
tamaño adecuada para su sistema.

2. FILTER LOCATION:

Since plumbing fittings offer a resistance to water flow, position the filter as close to the
swimming pool as practical. Keep the number of fittings to a minimum. Select a well­drained area, one that will not flood when it rains. The filter should be placed on a level
concrete slab, very firm ground or equivalent, as recommended by your pool dealer. Allow
for minimum top and side clearances as per chart. Be sure filter, pump, drain and pressure
gauge are accessible for convenient operation.

Position filter so the tank can drain away from pool and buildings by gravity.
If practical, place pump and filter in the shade to shield it from continuous direct heat

from sun.

2. POSICION DEL FILTRO:

coloque el filtro tan cerca de la piscina como pueda. Seleccione el minimo de accesorios.
Escoja una zona con desagues, que no se inunde cuando llueva.

El filtro debe colocarse en un lugar de concreto nivelado, sobre un suelo firme o
equivalente, segun la recomendacion de su distribuidor de equipos para piscina. Deje un
espacio libre para el reemplazo de el cartucho vea la tabla de la izquierda. No olvide dejar
espacios convenientes para tener acceso al filtro, la bomba, los desagues y el indicador de
presion, con el fin de practicar operaciones de mantenimiento.

Coloque el filtro de tal manera que el tanque se pueda desaguar por efecto de la
gravedad.

Si es posible, coloque la bomba y el filtro bajo la sombra para proteccion de los rayos de
el sol.

3. PLUMBING:

Use 1 ½", 2" or 2 ½" piping. Connections are 2" slip (solvent weld).

4. Ball or gate valves are recommended where needed. While all systems vary, the main

consideration is to provide the desired control of water flow from the pool to the pump,
to the filter and back to the pool. When the filter is located below the water level, provide
valves to prevent back flow of water to the filter during cleaning and routine servicing.

4. Recomendamos usar valvulas de control de agua cuando sea necesario. Aunque todo los

5. Assemble Jacuzzi® Slide Valve (optional) to filter. Lubricate the O-Rings first (we
recommend using silicone lubricant). Align the two valve pipe connections, O-Rings
in place, with the two openings in the side of the filter tank and press in firmly. Secure
the assembly to the tank connections with the two bulkhead lock nuts.

DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.

5. Ensamble la valvula de cierre al filtro (opcional). Primero lubrique los anillos-O
(recomendamos lubricante en silicone). Alinea las dos (2) conexiones de pipa de la
valvula, con los anillos-o en su lugar, con los 2 aberturas a un costado del filtro y presione
firmemente. Asegure el ensamble a las conexiones del tanque con las (2) dos tuercas de
amarre mamparo.

NO SOBRE APRIETE.

6. Connect the pool skimmer(s) and main drain(s) to the inlet and the return lines to the

outlet of the slide valve (optional). Always use two or more drains per pump.
If pressure gauge is not already installed, apply Teflon tape to the gauge threads on the

manual air relief valve (MAR), and carefully screw the gauge into the gauge adapter
assembly.

DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.

6. Conecte la tuberia de succion y la rejilla de retencion de hojas, a la entrada y las lineas

de retorno a la salida de la valvula (opcional). Siempre utilize dos o mas coladeras por
bomba.

Si no se ha instalado el indicador de presion, ponga cinta de teflon en las roscas del
indicador de la valvula de aire automatica (MAR) y atornille cuidadosamente el
adaptador.

NO SOBRE APRIETE.
