The FS/GS hand-held computer is rugged and
waterproof, but to help ensure trouble-free operation,
we recommend that you:
• Check how to use your application before
beginning work.
• Carry a spare set of batteries
• Avoid subjecting your FS/GS to:
• unnecessary temperature extremes - bright
sunlight in a vehicle, for example
• prolonged immersion in water
• physical mistreatment
The FS/GS is delivered with non-rechargeable
Alkaline batteries and is ready for use. Note: If you
fit new rechargeable batteries instead, you must
charge the FS/GS before use; please refer to the
section on BATTERIES.

1. RS232 CONNECTOR: serial/charging port.
Referred to as COM2.
2. FUNCTION KEYS: press to use application
functions.
3. POWER KEY: press to turn on or off.
4. HANDSTRAP: on the rear of the unit, this helps
you hold the FS/GS securely.
5. DEL/NO KEY: press to delete entries or answer
No to a question.
6. ENTER/YES KEY: press to complete typing, type
a carriage return, or answer Yes to a question.
7. SHIFT KEYS ( ): hold either down to type the
characters (or functions) shown above the keys.
8. TYPING KEYS: type letters, or symbols and
functions when used with (SHIFT).
9. BACKSPACE KEY: press to erase typing.
10. BATTERY CAP: remove to change batteries.
11. SPACE KEY: types a space (blank) character.
12. CURSOR KEYS: move the cursor.
SHIFT and SHIFT adjust screen contrast.
13. NUMERIC KEYPAD: type numbers.
14. ESCAPE KEY: usually used to cancel a function.
15. LCD SCREEN: displays prompts and messages
and information as you type.
