2- PUTTING INTO OPERATION
INSERTION OF THE BATTERIES Please remove the battery compartment cover, insert the 3 ‘AAA’ batteries supplied with the device, ensuring correct polarity, and put the battery compartment cover back on. After inserting the batteries, a full-segment display will briefly appear. 12.00 will then appear in the display and a short series of sounds will be heard.
Should this not be the case, please reinsert the batteries again and activate the RESET contact at the bottom of the device with a sharp object (e.g. a paper clip). If this does not help, please check that the batteries are fully charged.
3- OPERATION
1. Switch ‘backlight’ on the underside (function of display lighting) OFF: The display lighting is permanently switched off ON: The display lighting is always switched on Note: This mode requires a lot of electricity. The batteries will last a maximum of one
day. We therefore recommend that this mode of operation for the light is really only used by you in specific and exceptional cases.
TR: Every time the display is touched lightly, the display lighting is switched on for
approx. 6 seconds.
2. Rocker-switch contact of the display The display (LCD) is mounted in the device via a rocker-switch contact that you can also activate by lightly pushing the display backwards. With each touch, the display mode changes to the following sequence:

- The ‘M’ key on the underside has the same function when pressed briefly.
- With the rocker-switch contact, a setting can be cancelled at any time. Any settings made are adopted.
Note: In the backlight mode ‘TR’ the display lighting is switched on the first time the appliance is touched lightly. In the approx. 6 seconds during which the display lighting is active, you can scroll through in display mode with each touch as described above.
3. Switch ‘Return to time’ on the underside ON: If no manipulation to the device is made after selection of a display mode with the rocker-switch contact, the display automatically changes back to the time display. OFF: The display always stays in the last mode displayed.
4. Keys on the underside M – same function as the display rocker-switch contact S – pressed briefly: To change the display in the corresponding display mode or to activate a function
– pressed for a long time (approx. 2-3 seconds): To make a setting in the
corresponding display mode (the segment to be set flashes in each case in the
display)
/ – In the setting mode, the two keys are used to change the value to be set. In the
normal device status, i.e. not in the setting mode, one of the 8 melodies can thus be selected.

4- TIME SETTING (in the display mode TIME)
1. Press the ‘S’ key briefly on the underside of the device in order to select the 12/24-hour display format.
2. Press the ‘S’ key for 3 seconds.
- The flashing hours number can be set with the upwards or downwards key.
- Press the ‘S’ key. The flashing minutes number can be set with the upwards ‘▲’ or downwards ‘’ key.
- Press the ‘S’ key again to confirm the time set.
You can activate the rundown by holding the ‘’ or ‘’ key.
5- DATE SETTING (in the display mode DATE)
Press and hold the ‘S’ key for approx. 2-3 seconds.
- The flashing years number can be set with the upwards ‘’ or downwards ‘’ key.
- Press the ‘S’ key briefly. The flashing month can be set with the upwards ‘’ or
downwards ‘’ key.
- Press the ‘S’ key briefly. The flashing day can be set with the upwards ‘▲’ or downwards ‘’ key.
- The weekday is set automatically via the calendar
- Press the ‘S’ key again to confirm the date set and to exit the setting mode.
6- WAKE-UP TIME SETTING (in the display mode AL)
Press and hold the ‘S’ key for approx. 2-3 seconds.
- The flashing hours number of the wake-up time can be set with the upwards ‘▲’ or downwards ‘’ key.
- Press the ‘S’ key briefly: The flashing minutes number can be set with the upwards ‘’ or downwards ‘’ key.
- Press the ‘S’ key again to confirm the wake-up time set and to exit the setting mode.
With the ‘S’ key, you can then activate or deactivate the alarm.
If the ‘ ’ symbol appears on the display, the alarm is active. If the symbol does not appear on the display, the alarm is deactivated.
You can also replace the wake-up sound with one of the 8 melodies. Press the upwards ‘’ or downwards ‘’ key in the AL display to select one of the melodies or also to select the ‘beep’ wake-up sound again.
When the alarm time has been reached and the alarm clock is activated as described above, the wake-up call or melody sounds out and the coloured light changes colour to the rhythm of the melody. The wake-up sounds lasts 60 seconds. It can, however, be interrupted by touching the display lightly. The wake-up time remains active for the next day. If you do not want this, the alarm clock needs to be deactivated as described above with the ‘S’ key.
7- TIMER SETTING (in the display mode TIMER)
Press and hold the ‘S’ key for approx. 2-3 seconds.
- The flashing minutes number can be set with the upwards ‘▲’ or downwards ‘
key. The maximum timer time that can be set is 180 minutes and 59 seconds. The minimum is just 1 second exactly).
- Press the ‘S’ key briefly. The flashing seconds number can be set with the upwards
’ or downwards ‘’ key.
- Press the ‘S’ key again to confirm the setting and to exit the setting mode.
To start the timer which has been set in this way, press the ‘S’ key briefly. The time then begins to count backwards and the symbol ‘TIMER’ flashes. (If you change the display mode when the timer is running, you will continue to see the flashing 'TIMER' in the display). If you press the ‘S’ key again, the timer will stop. The ‘TIMER’ symbol then stops flashing. In order to allow the timer to continue running, press the ‘S’ key again. When the timer is stopped, you can also move back to the time set with the upwards key ‘’ or with the downwards key to zero. When the time has expired, the alarm sound ‘beep’ sounds out for 60 seconds and the display flashes in different colours. A melody cannot be selected in this function. The alarm sound can be interrupted at any time using the rocker-switch contact of the display. If this is not done, the alarm sound can be interrupted when the 60 seconds have expired and the prior timer time appears, ready for a restart, on the display.
8- DISPLAY MODE OF THE TEMPERATURE (in the display mode TEMPERATURE)
Press the ‘S’ key to change the temperature unit from °C to °F and vice versa.
9- MELODY SELECTION (in each display mode apart from TIMER)
In the time mode, press the upwards ‘’ or downwards ‘’ key to select one of the 8 melodies. The last played melody is then adopted for the wake-up sound. If you do not wish this, go into the AL mode and select the '9th melody' as described here: the simple ‘BEEP’ tone.
10- CARE INSTRUCTIONS
- Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight over longer periods.
- Avoid blows and shocks of any kind to the device.
- For cleaning use a dry soft cloth that you have moistened with water and a mild cleaning agent. Never use volatile substances such as benzene, thinner, cleansing agents in spray cans etc.
- When your clock is not being used store it in a dry area and out of the reach of small children.
- If the alarm clock is activated under extreme coldness it may occur that the display becomes illegible. As soon as the clock is returned to a warm environment the device will function normally.
- Please keep the user’s manual and other documents delivered with the device stored carefully so that you can reference them at a later point if necessary.
PLEASE NOTE
1. If any errors appear in the display or the alarm tone is weak, a tone is missed or the
light is faint, please replace the batteries.
2. With any abnormalities, first try resetting the device, i.e.: You press with a needle or an
opened-up paper clip into the small hole ‘RESET’ on the bottom of the device. The device then goes back into the manufacturer position and you can begin reprogramming.

It may occur that adjustments and improvements of the device will take place that due to typographical procedures were not able to be listed in this manual.
