Section 1: iPB6 Installation
The following document will provide a step-by-step process for helping you install your iPB6 biometric unit.
Your iPB6 should look similar to the above image. If this is not the case be sure to confirm that you have
received the correct device.

Device back view
This is the back view of your device and its connection diagram. Please note that with your iPB6 Enterprise
you will have received an Intelli Relay. This is the relay the iPB6 uses and this connects via the 1-wire port. For
further information on these ports please contact us or visit our website.

This is the Wiring diagram for the Intelli Relay.
1-Wire: This is connected to your iPB6 reader. You can see the corresponding ports on the readers
wiring diagram
Door status: If you are using a lock that provides feedback on its status i.e. open or closed this is where
the feedback wiring will be connected to.
Pushbutton: You can connect the pushbutton or a break glass directly to the relay here.
Pushbutton Delay: By putting these switches in their corresponding positions you can control the length
of the delay for the pushbutton.
12V DC IN: Supply the relay 12V DC power in order for it to operate.
Relay1/Relay2: These are the connectors where you will be connecting your locks, buzzers, lights, etc.
If the relay is triggered both these relays will activate. They do not activate separately.

Complete Wiring Diagram
The above diagram is used to wire a mag lock to the reader by using the provided Intelli Relay. This is the
most common setup but if you are using a striker lock or similar locking mechanism you will use the Normally
Open (N/O) port on the relay. For all the above wiring iPulse suggests you use Mylar cable or cable rated to
carry power. It is NOT sufficient to use network cable for the above wiring.

Installation procedures
If all the wiring is in place including the network cabling (not included in the above diagrams) then you are
ready to install the iBP6.
Line up the existing cable ways on the back of the supplied iPB6 back plate. Under no circumstances should
any back plate other that the supplied iPulse back plate be used. The supplied back plate should also not be
modified in any way. Ensure that you are mounting the back plate on a flat rigid surface. If the surface is not
flat or rigid the reader will not line up with the back plate and will not seal properly. Fasten the back plate with
the appropriate screws for your installation.
You can now connect the specified cables to the iPB6. Remember you will require Power, Network, and Relay
cables. When connecting the reader it is advised to not be doing it with live power cables, If everything is
connected you can slide the iPB6 reader onto the back plate lining up the top and bottom pillars correctly. If
you have done this the screw holes at the top and bottom should now line up. You might need to supply a bit of
pressure to get them to line up properly but this is normal.
If all your cabling has been completed you can now boot up your reader. Note that in the bottom left of the
reader’s screen there are two icons indicating network connectivity and relay connectivity. The first icon shows
connection to a relay if this icon is green the relay is detected. The second icon shows network connectivity,
this icon will have a red line through it if there is no network connectivity.
