IPEXPH485Ux2i-Dual™ is a USB to RS-485 and RS-422 Converter that adds a two Windows Serial COM Ports via
its USB connection and is compatible with RS-485 standard devices differential (Data+ & Data-); and RS-422
standard devices differential (TX+,TX- & RX+,RX-) signals. PH485Ux2i-Dual™ is fully Plug & Play and no external
power supply is required as PH485Ux2i-Dual™ takes its power from the USB Bus. It is designed for industrial
usage and is useful for Industrial Automation, Telecommunications, SCADA Systems and DCS Systems …
Protection against Surge, ESD and EMI is considered in its design and also has 3kV isolation between USB and
RS-485/422 sides. Since RS-485 is a Half-Duplex standard, switching between Transmit and Receive is doing
automatically and no further signal (such as RTS) is required. PH485Ux2i-Dual™ supports Point-to-Point and
Point-to-Multi Point Party Line network topologies.
PH485Ux2i-Dual™ comes complete with drivers for Microsoft Windows XP/CE/2003/2008/7/8. Drivers are also
available for Linux, Mac OS and Android.

NOTICE 1: Normally, D+ connects to D+, and D- connects to D-; but in some devices, D+ and D- signals are vice
versa, so you should connect D+ to D- and D- to D+ in these cases.
NOTICE 2: In noisy environments, it is better to use GND signal too.
RS-485 Cable: The best cable type for RS-485 side is shielded twisted pair. CAT5 or CAT6 cables are good
choices. Maximum cable length could be 1200m. Connect D+ and D- pins to one pair and GND signal to shield.
Terminator Resistor: A 120 ohm terminator resistor is installed internally and further external terminator
resistor is NOT REQUIRED.
