Introduction
FWEIDE525D-MR2-WP2 is a FireWire (1394a) to ATA storage equipment with two IDE (ATA) Mobile Rack built-in.
It allows ATA/SATA storage devices to connect to a 1394 serial bus in a plug-and-play fashion.
There are two FireWire (1394a) to ATA bridge boards inside the FWEIDE525D-MR2-WP2.
One of the FireWire (1394a) to ATA bridge board is with read-only (write protect) function.
The read-only (write protect) function provides the perfect solution for forensic application.
Overview
- Supports the following ATA storage devices:
* 2.5" ATA hard drive disk
* 3.5" ATA hard drive disk
* 3.5" serial ATA hard drive disk
- Supports primary partition and multiple logical partition
- Supports all kinds of file systems:
* FAT 16, FAT32 and NTFS file system for Windows
* Ext2 and Ext3 file system for Linux
* Mac OS Standard and Mac OS Extended file system for Mac OS

FWEIDE525D-MR2-WP2 combines three key components:
Power Switch

Bridge Board

FW2: FW-i345SB-WP
1). Case & Power Supply:
- Power indicator LED
- Provide power switch at the front panel
- Built-in 80W universal power supply/ Auto-switching 90-240V AC
- Built-in 80x80 mm cooling fan
2). FireWire to ATA Bridge Board:
- FireWire ports: Two 6-pin port
- 1394 Bus Transfer Rate: 100/200/400 Mbps
- Complies with T13's ATA/ATAPI-6 Draft Specification:
* Multiword DAM Mode 0-2
* Ultra DAM Mode 2, 4, 5
* Supports 48-bit addressing for large hard drives (>128GB)
3). IDE Mobile Rack:
- The inner hard disk drive tray and mounting frame are made by aluminum which is good for heat dissipation
- Ejecting pull handle with miniature keylock
- Keylock + power switch make the hard disk drive tray hot-swappable
- One built-in 40x40 mm cooling fan
- Power indicator LED and HDD Access LED

Application Note
Since FW-i345SB and FW-i345SB-WP were daisy chain attached inside the enclosure so the following
applications should be noticed.
Application 1: When you attached the FireWire (1394a) cable on FW1 port of FWEIDE525D-MR2-WP2.
- Unlocked the keylock on upper deck Mobile Rack, the drive icon of lower deck Mobile Rack will be
removed.
- Unlocked the keylock on lower deck Mobile Rack, the drive icon of upper deck Mobile Rack won't be
removed.
Application 2: When you attached the FireWire (1394a) cable on FW2 port of FWEIDE525D-MR2-WP2.
- Unlocked the keylock on upper deck Mobile Rack, the drive icon of lower deck Mobile Rack won't be
removed.
- Unlocked the keylock on lower deck Mobile Rack, the drive icon of upper deck Mobile Rack will be
removed.

Installing Hard Disk Drive

Pull the active-handle outward.
1-1. Pull the active-handle outward. (Fig.1)
1-2. Pull the handle outward to remove the carrier body away from
cartridge frame. (Fig.2)

Provide three kinds of HDD Mobile Tray for different
application.

2-1-3. Connect the 2.5" ATA HDD by using 35-25MT01.

2-2. Place the HDD inside carrier body, Use four of the screws provided
to secure theHDD. (Fig.5)
2-3. Place thetop cover backto the carrier body by sliding forward to
secure. (Fig.6)

Slide the carrier body backin the cartidge frame
3-1. Slide the carrier body back in the cartridge frame. (Fig.7)
3-2. Push the carrier body further into the cartridge frame until fully
inserted. (Fig. 8)
