Match Server Screen (Desktop Scaling)
When the GCS661U is operational, the desktop environment of the Remote computer appears in its own window on the desktop of the Local
computer. The GCS661U’s innovative desktop scaling feature offers the options of a full-screen or sizable (by ratio) remote desktop window.
By default, the Remote desktop window maintains the original resolution of the Remote computer
screen and appears on the Local computer’s desktop in a 1:1 aspect ratio. To match the
resolution of the Remote desktop window to that of the Local computer monitor, use the Match
Server Screen function in the Toolbar.
Note:
The Remote desktop window can also be toggled
to full screen using the Toolbar. In full screen mode,
the remote desktop display scales to the Local
user’s monitor display size.
In addition, the Remote desktop window can be treated like any other window on the Local desktop
(minimize, maximize, etc.).
USB 2.0 Port
The GCS661U Laptop KVM features an additional
USB 2.0 port, offering the Local computer the ability to access an additional USB 2.0 device, such as a thumb drive, external storage, and others.

Troubleshooting
Issue Potential Solution
Once installation is complete, can I use the GCS661U to control the Local (laptop) computer from the Remote (desktop) one?
What if I want to use the desktop computer to control my laptop?
Does the GCS661U support different languages OS for the Local and Remote systems?
Not if you have initially installed the software on the Remote (desktop). You can only control from the Local computer.
First, you need to uninstall the software if you have already installed it
on the desktop. Then reverse the installation steps highlighted above (i.e. plug the longer cable and install the software on the laptop, etc.). You can now control your laptop from your desktop computer.
Note: The laptop now becomes the Remote computer, and vice versa.
All KVM and le management functions are supported between different languages OS (i.e. 1 computer with English OS and 1 with a foreign language OS). However, text typed by the Local PC only supports the Local OS language and English ASCII. Only the language
OS of the local computer can be keyed by the Local console into the
Remote desktop window and GUI.
24
Page 25
Issue Potential Solution
Does the KVM work with Apple
OS or Linux?
When connecting a USB 2.0
device to the USB port on the
KVM, it does not work.
When I plug a USB device into the
USB port on the KVM, I don’t see it on my screen.
Can I print a le located in the
Remote hard drive to the printer that is directly connected to it?
No, the current version of the GCS661U only supports
Windows 2000 or higher, XP, and Vista.
This may be that the device requires an external power adapter. If such adapter is supplied, then it is recommended that it be used. If
the adapter is not supplied, then plug the USB device directly into
one of the USB ports on either computer.
If the Remote screen is displayed on your Local computer, you will
not see the USB device. You need to minimize it and go to the Local screen. You will be able to see it and manage it, including le copying from the Local computer only.
Yes, with the Laptop KVM connected to both the Local and Remote,
you can send a print job from your Local computer of a le located
on the Remote to the printer directly connected to your Remote
computer.

Issue Potential Solution
Can I browse the internet from the Local (laptop) if the Remote (desktop) is connected to it?
What happens if I reboot either computer?
After doing step right above, the
GCS661U is still not functioning.
Yes, if the Remote has an Internet connection, you can launch
Windows Explorer, on the Remote, from your Local computer and browse.
Wait for few seconds and you will then see an icon on the computer
stating that “Laptop KVM software running”. The utility software auto start. Go to “My Computer” in the Local computer and click on the GCS661U icon that is showing. The connection between computers will be established.
Unplug and then re-plug the USB cables on both computers. You will then see an icon on the computer stating that “Laptop KVM software running”. The utility software auto start. Go to “My Computer” in the Local computer and click on the GCS661U icon that is showing. The connection between computers will be established.
26
Page 27
Issue Potential Solution
How can I eliminate the Remote
computer’s request to put in a
password every time I turn it on?
You can change the password settings in Windows through the Control Panel (2000, XP, or Vista). In XP, go to Control Panel, then User Accounts, choose the Account you want to change and follow
instructions. In Vista, go to Control Panel, then User Accounts and follow instructions related to changing password.
