2.3SafetyInformationonElectromagnetic Interference

Thispoweredmobilitydevicewassuccessfullytestedin accordancewithInternationalstandardsastoitscompliance withElectromagneticInterference(EMI)regulations. However,electromagneticelds,suchasthosegeneratedby radioandtelevisiontransmitters,andcellularphonescan inuencethefunctionsofpoweredmobilitydevices.Also, theelectronicsusedinourmobilitydevicescangeneratea lowlevelofelectromagneticinterference,whichhowever willremainwithinthetolerancepermittedbylaw .For thesereasonsweaskyoutopleaseobservethefollowing precautions:

–Donotswitchonoroperateportable
transceiversorcommunicationdevices(suchas radiotransceiversorcellularphones)whenthe mobilitydeviceisswitchedon.
–Avoidgettingnearstrongradioandtelevision
transmitters.
–Incasethemobilitydeviceshouldbeset
inmotionunintentionallyorthebrakesare released,switchitoffimmediately .
–Addingelectricalaccessoriesandother
componentsormodifyingthemobilitydevice inanywaycanmakeitsusceptibleto electromagneticinterference.Keepinmind thatthereisnosurewaytodeterminethe effectsuchmodicationswillhaveonthe overallimmunityoftheelectronicsystem.
–Reportalloccurrencesofunintentional
movementofthemobilitydevice,orreleaseof theelectricbrakestothemanufacturer .

–Alwaysreturnthebackrestofyourseattoan
uprightpositionbeforeascendingslopes.We recommendthatyoupositiontheseatbackrest slightlytotherearbeforedescendingslopes.
–Onlyeverdrivedownhillatamaximumof2/3
ofthetopspeed.Avoidabruptbrakingor acceleratingongradients.
–Ifatallpossible,avoiddrivingonwet,slippery,
icy,oroilysurfaces(suchassnow ,gravel,ice etc.)wherethereisariskofyoulosingcontrol overthevehicle,especiallyonagradient. Thismayincludecertainpaintedorotherwise treatedwoodsurfaces.Ifdrivingonsucha surfaceisinevitable,thenalwaysdriveslowly andwiththeutmostcaution.
–Neverattempttoovercomeanobstaclewhen
onanuphillordownhillgradient.
–Neverattempttodriveupordownaightof
stepswithyourmobilitydevice.
–Whenovercomingobstacles,alwaysobserve

3.2Intendeduse

Thewheelchaircontrolssystemisttedwithanoverload protection.
Ifthedriveisseverelyoverloadedoveralongperiodoftime (forexample,whendrivingupasteephill)andespecially whentheambienttemperatureishigh,thecontrolssystem couldoverheat.Inthiscase,thewheelchairperformanceis graduallyreduceduntilitcomestoahalt.Thestatusdisplay showsacorrespondingerrorcode(refertoControlunitand Quickassistanceonsystemfailurechapters,ALBEResprit usermanual).Byswitchingthepowersupplyoffandback onagain,theerrorcodeisclearedandthecontrolssystem isswitchedbackon.Itcanhowevertakeuptoveminutes untilthecontrolssystemhascooleddownenoughforthe drivetorestorefullperformanceagain.

11.1Storage

11.1.1Short-termstorage

Incaseaseriousfaultisdetected,anumberofsafety mechanismsarebuiltintoyourmobilitydeviceandwill protectit.Thepowermodulepreventsyourmobilitydevice fromdriving.
Whenthemobilitydeviceisinsuchaconditionandwhile waitingforrepair:
1.Switchoffpower.
2.Disconnectthebatterypack. Refertothecorrespondingchapteraboutdisconnecting thebatterypack,ALBERespritusermanual.
3.Contactyourauthorizedprovider.

11.1.2Long-termstorage

Incaseyourmobilitydeviceisnotusedforalongerperiod oftime,youneedtoprepareitforstoragetoensurea longerlifeforyourmobilitydeviceandbatterypack.
Storingmobilitydeviceandbatterypack
Werecommendtostorethemobilitydeviceata temperatureof15°to25°C,avoidhotandcold extremeswhenstoringtoensurealongservicelifeof theproductandbatterypack.
Thecomponentsaretestedandapprovedforgreater temperaturerangesasdetailedbelow: –Allowabletemperaturerangetostorethemobility
deviceis-40°upto65°C.
–Allowabletemperaturerangetostorebatteriesis
-25°upto65°C.
Evennotbeingused,batterypackdischargethemselves. Bestpracticeistodisconnectthebatterysupplyfrom thepowermoduleifstoringthemobilitydevicelonger thantwoweeks.Refertothecorrespondingchapter aboutdisconnectingthebatterypack,ALBEResprituser manual.Ifindoubtwhichcabletodisconnect,contact yourauthorizedprovider .
Batterypackshouldalwaysbefullychargedbefore storing.
Ifstoringthemobilitydevicelongerthanfourweeks, checkthebatterypackonceamonthandrechargeas needed(beforegaugereadshalffull)toavoiddamage.
Storeinadry,well-ventilatedenvironmentprotected fromouterinuences.

11.2Disposal

Beenvironmentallyresponsibleandrecyclethisproduct throughyourrecyclingfacilityatitsendoflife.
Disassembletheproductanditscomponents,sothedifferent materialscanbeseparatedandrecycledindividually.
Thedisposalandrecyclingofusedproductsandpackaging mustcomplywiththelawsandregulationsforwaste handlingineachcountry.Contactyourlocalwaste managementcompanyforinformation.
