SAFETY SUMMARY

DO NOT install this equipment without first reading and understanding this instruction sheet. If you are unable to understand the warnings, cautions or instructions, contact a healthcare professional, dealer or technical personnel, before attempting to install this equipment - otherwise, injury or damage may occur.
The transfer bench backrest and seat arm MUST be installed BEFORE using the transfer bench.
DO NOT submerge seat pads in water otherwise damage to seat pads may result.
Check rubber tips for rips, tears, cracks or wear. If any of these conditions exist, replace rubber tips immediately.
Users with limited physical capabilities should be supervised or assisted when using the transfer bench.
Use seat arm ONLY to assist in transfers. DO NOT attempt to use seat arm to assist in standing in tub as tipping of the transfer bench could result.
SPECIFIC WARNINGS
The weight limitation of transfer bench (Model Nos. 9871, 9873, and 98070) manufactured after November 1, 1999 is 300 lbs (136.1 kg).
XXXXX 1st digit signifies the last digit of the year.
XXXXX 2nd and 3rd digits signify the month.
XXXXX 4th and 5th digits signify the day.
Example: 91101 = November 1, 1999

SPECIFIC WARNINGS (CONTINUED)
Most tub floors are higher than the bathroom floor. Before using, ensure that the two (2) legs of the transfer bench inside the tub are adjusted to the same height and the two (2) legs outside the tub are adjusted to the same height, so as to achieve an even height adjustment. DO NOT use if wobbly or unstable.
After ANY adjustments, repair or service and BEFORE use, make sure all attaching
hardware is securely tightened - otherwise injury or damage may result.
INSTALLING THE SEAT ARM
NOTE: Before performing this procedure, carefully read and understand the Safety Summary of this instruction sheet.
NOTE: The end rail is already installed on the transfer bench and must be removed when installing the seat arm.
1. Remove the two (2) LONGER mounting screws and locknuts that secure the leg frame to the end rail.
NOTE: The LONGER mounting screws are the ones that have more exposed threads beyond the lock nut.
2. Position the seat arm on the side of the transfer bench where backrest is attached.
3. Install one (1) LONGER mounting screw through seat arm and leg frame.
4. Secure seat arm to the leg frame with the locknut.

5. Repeat STEPS 3 AND 4 for opposite side.
6. Securely tighten all hardware until a resistance is felt and all slack is

7. Adjust leg extensions. Refer to Adjusting Leg Extensions on page 3.

ATTACHING THE BACKREST ASSEMBLY
NOTE: Before performing this procedure, carefully read and understand the Safety Summary of this instruction sheet.
1. Position transfer bench upside down on a level surface.
NOTE: The backrest attaches to the end closest to the seat arm and MUST be positioned facing the shower head and/or faucet.
2. Remove the four (4) mounting screws that secure the seat to the leg frames.
3. Position backrest onto the leg frames.
4. Install one (1) mounting screw through back support tube, leg frame, and into seat. Repeat for three (3) remaining mounting screws.
5. Securely tighten all hardware until a resistance is felt and all slack is removed.

ADJUSTING LEG EXTENSIONS
NOTE: Before performing this procedure, carefully read and understand the Safety Summary of this instruction sheet.
1. Select one (1) of the nine (9) adjustment holes located on the lower leg frame.
2. Depress the snap button and slide the leg extension up or down to the desired height until snap button protrudes fully through the adjustment hole of the leg extension.
3. Repeat for the other legs.
4. Make sure all four (4) legs are adjusted so that the transfer bench sits level inside and outside of the tub.

CLEANING
NOTE: BEFORE using any cleaning products, test an area on the underside of the seat for any discoloration or staining.
1. Use a mild soap or non-abrasive cleanser and water to clean the transfer bench.

LIMITED WARRANTY
NOTE: THE WARRANTY BELOW HAS BEEN DRAFTED TO COMPLY WITH FEDERAL LAW APPLICABLE TO PRODUCTS MANUFACTURED AFTER JULY 4, 1975.
This warranty is extended only to the original purchaser/user of our product. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other legal rights which vary
from state to state. Invacare warrants the transfer bench to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for
the lifetime of the product for the original purchaser/user. If within such warranty period any such product shall be proven to be defective, such product shall be repaired or replaced, at Invacare’s option. This warranty does not include any labor or shipping charges incurred in replacement part installation or repair of any such product. Invacare’s sole obligation and your exclusive remedy under this warranty shall be limited to such repair and/or replacement.

For warranty service, please contact the dealer from whom you purchased your Invacare product. In the event you do not receive satisfactory warranty service, please write to Invacare at the address on the back cover, provide dealers name, address, date of purchase, indicate nature of the defect and, if the product is serialized, indicate the serial number. DO NOT return products to our factory without our prior consent.
LIMITATIONS AND EXCLUSIONS: THE FOREGOING WARRANTY SHALL NOT APPLY TO SERIAL NUMBERED PRODUCTS IF THE SERIAL NUMBER HAS BEEN REMOVED OR DEFACED; PRODUCTS SUBJECTED TO NEGLIGENCE, ACCIDENT, IMPROPER OPERATION, IMPROPER MAINTENANCE OR STORAGE, COMMERCIAL OR INSTITUTIONAL USE; PRODUCTS MODIFIED WITHOUT INVACARE’S EXPRESS WRITTEN CONSENT INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, MODIFICATION THROUGH THE USE OF UNAUTHORIZED PARTS OR ATTACHMENTS; PRODUCTS DAMAGED BY REASON OF REPAIRS MADE TO ANY COMPONENT WITHOUT THE SPECIFIC CONSENT OF INVACARE; OR TO A PRODUCT DAMAGED BY CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND INVACARE’S CONTROL. SUCH EVALUATION WILL BE SOLELY DETERMINED BY INVACARE. THE WARRANTY SHALL NOT APPLY TO PROBLEMS ARISING FROM NORMAL WEAR OR FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
THE FOREGOING EXPRESS WARRANTY IS EXCLUSIVE AND IN LIEU OF ANY OTHER WARRANTIES WHATSOEVER, WHETHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND THE SOLE REMEDY FOR VIOLATIONS OF ANY WARRANTY WHATSOEVER, SHALL BE LIMITED TO REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THE DEFECTIVE PRODUCT PURSUANT TO THE TERMS CONTAINED HEREIN.
