The GPI-U116N is a universal, versatile general-purpose-to-network interface. It is a fully functional stand-alone IP-to-I/O
remote access controller with internal web server. It functions as a remote expansion port for Inter-M’s integration systems.
The GPI-U116N is the ideal solution for providing LAN based control for devices needing I/O functionality.

OVERVIEW

The GPI-U116N is a universal, versatile general-purpose-to-network interface. It is a fully functional stand-alone IP-to-I/O
remote access controller with internal web server. Housed in a in a 1RU form factor it is designed for all types of commercial
AV installations. It functions as a remote expansion port for Inter-M’s Integration systems. Using standard TCP/ IP Ethernet
network, it is remotely controlled via the network and can be placed anywhere in a facility. The GPI-U116N is the ideal solution
for providing LAN based control for devices needing I/O functionality.

Signal Monitoring is available for all 16 inputs with a front panel mounded LEDs, indicating active input triggers. Power and
fault LED indicators confirm proper device operation.

Based on industry standards, TCP/IP network protocol the GPI-U116N can receive TCP/IP command

packets from any network devices connected to a LAN or WAN. Interoperability is a reality today.

The Inter-M GPI-U116N is compatible with hundreds of other Network-enabled products available

from the world’s leading manufacturers, enabling you to mix devices from multiple manufacturers.

Tunneling contact closures over IP

The GPI-U116N works as a reliable intermediate between host based data devices and control

applications, tunneling contact closures over IP. The device provides 16 dry contact input terminals

receiving trigger inputs from external devices via one network. The host interface supports industry-

standard TCP/IP protocols. The GPI-U116N is a portal for controlling or monitoring devices across your

facility or across the world

Network Connectivity

One 10/100 Ethernet port supports TCP/IP protocols. IT as well as automation systems can easily

connect to the device on a LAN or WAN network. TCP/IP, traffic can be routed over internal LANs,

wireless LANs, MANs, WANs and even over the Internet. Systems and devices in different locations,

floors building, and cities anywhere in the world are easily send a trigger or be monitored by GPI,

General Purpose Inputs over networks using the GPI-U116N.

Scalability

Receiving and monitoring contact closure control inputs from any systems is now possible with the

GPI-U116N. Any number of GPI-U116N can be added to a system expanding the number of contact

closure control inputs to the installations specific requirement.

Web-browser Control Panel

The GPI-U116N is easily configured using the built-in Web-browser interface. The Web-browser

control panel is a web-based interface (control panel), used to interact directly with the device,

both for making configuration changes and for requesting device information.

The Web-browser control runs directly on the device’s internal web server on port 80 and can be

accessed from any regular browser including web-enabled devices such as tablets and smart

phones.

You can access Web-Browser Control panel interface by opening a browser and typing

http://device_ip_address. The default IP address is http:// 192.168.1.99.

The web-browser interface will allow you to setup and configure the Network Settings, Security,

Date/Time, Activate the Trigger channel, Firmware Update, Maintenance and Log Files. Through

the web-browser interface, you can easily trigger a relay remotely and verify its status.

Emergency Power and Battery Charging

The simultaneous dual redundant AC and DC power operation, offers uninterrupted operation in

the event of an AC mains power outage. If the main AC power fails, the GPI-U116N automatically

switches to the DV24V battery backup.

APPLICATION

Applications include adding remote system monitoring Receiving contact closure control inputs

for device triggering and remote notification over IP. The GPO-U116N will add additional dry

contact trigger control to Inter-M solutions like the ARM-911, the system 6000 or simply used as a

stand-alone network device. It can be used in buildings, wiring cabinets, server rooms, airports,

railway stations, ground transportation, and anywhere remote contact control is required over long

distances. The GPI-U116N will easily integrate contact closure control for your entire system over a

single, standard IP network.
