Wiegand Interface Unit-4 (WIU-4)
Wiegand Interface Unit-4 (WIU-4)
By combining the wiegand Interface four-state
supervisory monitoring/reporting feature with any
conventional Proximity, Mifare and ISO15693
readers, security system administrators will
receive immediate alarm notification if a short
circuit, cut line or open/close circuit condition
occurs between the WIU-4, Request-to-Exit
(REX) and Door Data Inputs (DI). The WIU-4
provides a wiring union and
wiegand-to-Supervised F/2F transfer point for use
with UTC access control systems. The WIU-4
provides the communication interface that
enables support of up to 16 Wiegand output
readers per microcontroller.
Configuration Information
The WIu-4 is fully compatible with Picture Perfect,
Secure Perfect and Facility Commander Wnx.
Connected individually to standard Wiegand
readers, the WIU-4 transfers the Wiegand badge
data to the M5 or M3000 microcontroller equipped
with up to two 8RP reader processor boards. For
smaller systems containing up to four readers per
microcontroller, the WIU-4 can be configured with
a M2000 controller.
The WIU-4 also bridges common wiring
connections for junction box designs. Door
contact, REX, door strike and alarm shunt outputs
are all supported by the WIU-4.
Unit Operation
The WIU-4 works with current microcontroller
firmware versions and supports most
non-proprietary Wiegand data formats.
