General

Mouse

If the wheel on the Logitech wheel mouse does not function, or if you experience any other anomalies while using the wheel mouse, install the System CD using InterSite Version Manager.
If your system was delivered with a three-button Primax mouse, you may see a message that says
“MouseWare has detected a new Wheel Mouse....” and asks if you want to configure the new
device. If this happens, select No. If you experience any other anomalies while using the Primax mouse, reinstall the mouse driver found on the Windows NT software CD-ROM.

Ensoniq AudioPCI Driver

When you try to create backup diskettes for the Ensoniq AudioPCI audio driver software (
ENSQ1371WNT4), you may see an error message that says Version Manager cannot copy the file.
If you click OK, nothing is copied to the diskette. If this happens, you cannot create backup media for this product. If you need to reinstall this product, download this product from the Support pages on the World Wide Web (http://www.intergraph.com/ics/), or look for it on the Intergraph System CD-ROM.

USB Peripherals

Your system includes Universal Serial Bus (USB) ports to which you can connect USB peripherals. Windows NT 4.0 does not support USB peripherals. Microsoft will add support for USB peripherals to a future Windows NT release.

Other Operating Systems

Intergraph Computer Systems only certifies and supports the use of Windows NT on TDZ 2000 GT1. No other operating systems are certified or supported.

Booting with the CD-ROM Drive Door Open

If the system is equipped with a Sony SCSI CD-ROM drive, note that the system may hang during boot if the CD-ROM drive door is open. If this happens, close the CD-ROM drive door and restart the system.

Mylex 250 RAID Controller

If your system includes a Mylex 250 RAID controller, note that Conner RAID disk drives (which you may have in an existing InterRAID-8e array) are not compatible with this controller. You can use Seagate Barracuda or Cheetah RAID disk drives with this controller.
If you add a Mylex 250 RAID controller to PCI slot 4, 5, or 6 on the system, you must run the
SCSI Configuration Utility and reassign the boot order to the system’s on-board SCSI controllers. This prevents a possible boot problem from occurring. See System Setup for information on running the SCSI Configuration Utility.

Disk Drive Delayed Start

Hard disk drives draw an extra amount of power when the system is first powered on. The power supply can support up to two hard disk drives powering on (spinning up) at once. If you add more than two hard disk drives in a system, you must activate the delayed start feature on the additional hard disk drives. Doing this forces these drives to pause b e fore spinning up, allowing the power supply to finish starting the first drives. See the disk drive documentation or the disk drive labe l for information on activating delayed start.

Windows NT 4.0

Windows NT Diagnostics and PCI Device IRQs

When using the Windows NT Diagnostics tool, the interrupt requests (IRQs) displayed for Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) devices may be incorrect. This occurs because of the way Windows NT Diagnostics reads IRQs on a system that conforms to Intel’s Multi-Processor Specification (MPS) version 1.4. Microsoft has acknowledged the problem and is working to resolve it.

Enabling PC Card Hard Disk Operation

Intergraph Computer Systems has found a resource conflict that keeps a PC Card hard disk (ATA or AT type) from being configured by Windows NT 4.0. To enable operation of a PC Card hard disk in a PC Card adapter, you must edit the Windows NT Registry.
WARNING Be careful when making changes in the Registry. Any mistakes or incorrect
changes may cause serious operating system problems, and you may have to reinstall the operating system. If the system becomes unusable after you have modified the Registry, restart the system and try to use the Last Known Good configuration option to undo the damage. See Windows NT documentation for more information on the Last Known Good configuration option.
To enable PC Card hard disk operation:
3
1. Start the Registry Editor (
REGEDT32.EXE) to open the Registry.
2. Open the following subkey in the Registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Pcmcia
3. From the Edit menu, select Add Value.
4. In the Value Name box, type InterruptMask.
5. In the Data Type box, select REG_DWORD; then select OK.
6. In the Data box, type F347.
7. Under Radix, select Hex; then select OK.
8. Exit from the Registry Editor.
9. Restart the system.
