4.1 Selecting an Indoor Installation Site . . . . . . . . 11
The condensate drain line(s) from the gasfired appliance must have a p-trap or some
other form of a vapor trap to prevent exhaust
gas from being forced into the condensate
neutralizer. The p-trap forms an air block (trap) which
prevents carbon monoxide from exiting the gas-fired
appliance and flowing into the condensate neutralizer
through the condensate drain line or the gas exhaust
outlet pipe. Improper installation of the condensate
drain line(s) leading to the unit can result in excessive
levels of carbon monoxide, which can lead to severe
personal injury or death.

2.3 Gas Leak Notification Alarm
DANGER
This unit will only identify that a gas leak exists. It does
not identify which gas-fired appliance may have the
leak.
Activation of the built-in “Gas Alarm” indicates the
presence of either natural gas or propane gas which can
cause death.
Once the alarm sounds immediately move outdoors.
Be aware that natural gas is heavier than air and will
settle on the floor or in low areas of the building. Make
sure everyone has evacuated the building and do not
reenter the building until the leak has been stopped and
repaired by a professional service provider.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS:
1. Immediately move outdoors.

d. Do not reenter the building until the leak has
been stopped and repaired.
2. Call 911 from outside the building.
2.4 Carbon Monoxide Hazard
WARNING
Early symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning can mimic
many common ailments and may easily be confused with
food poisoning, viral infections, u, or simple tiredness.
Symptoms include:
Mild exposure can create:
• slight headache
• dizziness
• nausea (flu-like symptoms)
• vomiting
• fatigue or tiredness
Medium exposure can create:
• throbbing headache
• visual problems
• drowsiness
• confusion
• fast heart rate
• erratic behavior
Extreme exposure can create:
• pains in the chest or stomach
• convulsions
• unconsciousness
• heart and lung failure
• brain damage
• death.
Carbon Monoxide (CO) Hazard
Combustion of natural gas or propane gas
produces poisonous carbon monoxide
(CO) gas that can build up to dangerous
levels in enclosed areas. Breathing carbon monoxide can
cause unconsciousness, brain damage, and death. Never
use a gas- red appliance with a known carbon monoxide
leak.
Some individuals are more sensitive to carbon monoxide
than others, including people with cardiac or respiratory
problems, infants, unborn babies, pregnant mothers,
or elderly people can be more quickly and severely
affected by carbon monoxide.
Carbon monoxide is odorless, colorless, and tasteless,
which makes it di cult to detect. Most cases of carbon
monoxide poisoning is due to inadequate ventilation or
poor maintenance of a gas- red appliance.

3.6.1 Carbon Monoxide (CO) Sensor
DANGER
Improper venting of gas-fired
appliances will result in excessive
levels of carbon monoxide, which can
lead to severe personal injury or death.
Make sure all gas-fired appliances are vented in
accordance with the “Venting of Equipment” section of
the latest edition of the ANSI Z223.1 / NFPA 54 (Natural
Fuel Gas Code) in the USA, or in Canada refer to the
“Venting Systems and Air Supply for Appliances”
section in the latest version of CAN/CGA B149.1 (Natural
Gas and Propane Installation Code), and all applicable
local building codes.
The built-in carbon monoxide (CO) sensor continuously
measures the carbon monoxide level in the air. The unit
provides both an audible and visual alarm if the carbon
monoxide levels rise above safe limits. The sensor will NOT
detect smoke, fire, or any other gases.
The unit only monitors the air quality inside the room where
it is located, even though carbon monoxide gas may also be
present in other areas of the building.
With a subscription to the telliBot Monitoring Service, the
user automatically receives notification through the app or
email of the presence or absence of carbon monoxide.
For additional information, refer to “10.1 Troubleshooting
Guide” on page 18.
SAFETY
INSTRUCTIONS
• The unit has a “Silence” feature on the carbon
monoxide alarm, but should only be used for momentary
convenience prior to correcting the problem.
• NEVER ignore the Carbon Monoxide Alarm. After an
alarm sounds, have a qualified technician check the
surrounding gas-fired appliances for carbon monoxide
leaks. Failure to do so can result in injury or death.
• Test the carbon monoxide alarm once a week. Refer
how to test your CO alarm section in this manual. If the
carbon monoxide alarm fails to test correctly, replace
the unit!
• This product is intended for use in ordinary indoor
applications.
3.6.2 Gas Sensor
The gas sensor is designed to detect high levels of natural
gas or propane gas. It is NOT designed to detect smoke, fire,
carbon monoxide, or any other gases.
The unit only monitors the air quality inside the room where it
is located. The alarm is both visual and audible. For additional
information, refer to “10.1 Troubleshooting Guide” on page
18.
With a subscription to the telliBot Monitoring Service, a
notification of the alarm is automatically sent to the user via
the app or an email.
3.6.3 pH Sensor
The built-in pH sensor monitors the pH value of the
condensate water after it is treated. The unit notifies the
user both visually and audibly when it is time to replace the
neutralizer media bag.
The pH level of the condensate from high-efficiency
condensing appliances is acidic with pH levels between 3 and
4. Plain tap water normally has a pH level of 7. The acidic
condensate is harmful to the environment and can corrode
pipes and drains or other materials involving waste water
treatments if not properly neutralized.
The user automatically receives notification through the app
or an email when the pH levels are increasing and the
neutralizer media bag should be replaced. With a
subscription to the Tellibot Monitoring Service, replacement
media will be shipped automatically.
The system also monitors the effectiveness of neutralizer
media. With a subscription, it sends a notification that a
replacement neutralizer media bag is being shipped (free of
charge) when it is time for replacement.
iB301 / iB3001 Technical Specifications 10
November 2017 - Revision 00
3.6.4 Leak Sensor
A built-in leak sensor automatically notifies the user of any
water leaks. In order to work properly, the unit must be in
direct contact with the floor or surface being monitored.
Units that are elevated off of the floor will not detect a leak
until the water level rises to the bottom of the unit.
A visible and audible alarm notify the user of a leak. For
additional information, refer to “10.1 Troubleshooting Guide”
on page 18.
3.6.5 Temperature Sensors
Two temperature sensors, when connected to copper water
pipes, are used to continuously measure the inlet and outlet
water temperatures to the gas-fired appliance.
The unit sends temperature information to the user when it
is connected to Internet.
There is no visual or audible alarm associated with these
sensors.
3.7 Boiler Interlock
TelliBot provides an interlock function to disable the
equipment being monitored (e.g. boiler) when a carbon
monoxide, gas, or water leak alarm is detected. The telliBot
automatically enables the monitored equipment when the
alarm condition is no longer present. The two pins are
provided as a signal level disconnect function. If no alarm
conditions are detected, there is continuity between the
pins. When alarm conditions are detected, the continuity is
interrupted.
The maximum voltage rating for these pins is 50 VAC/DC
and the maximum allowed current is 100mA. If higher voltage
or higher current is required, please contact the factory for
assistance.
3.8 Accessory Relay Kit
The accessory relay port connects telliBot to the accessory
relay controls. The accessory relay controls module controls
a gas valve and water valve. When no alarm conditions
are present, the gas valve and water valve are energized,
allowing the monitored equipment to function. When alarm
conditions are present, telliBot signals the accessory relay
controls to de-energize the gas valve and water valve,
thereby isolating the monitored equipment from gas and
water. When alarm conditions are no longer present, the gas
valve and water valve are returned to energized condition.
The maximum voltage rating for gas and water valve control
signals is 5 VAC/DC and maximum allowed current is 100mA.
4. Preparation Before Installation
4.1 Selecting an Indoor Installation Site
1. Install the unit so that the inlet and outlet connections are
below the level of the condensate drain coming from the
gas-fired appliance.
a. A one inch minimum distance is required.
b. In the case of a floor mounted gas-fired appliance a
riser may be required to raise the gas-fired appliance
to obtain the minimum requirement.
2. Place the unit only in a horizontal position on the floor.
Vertical mounting is not permitted and will void the
warranty.
3. Any condensate drain connection must have a p-traps
between the gas-fired appliance outlet and the unit’s inlet.
4. Locate the unit where pipes are not subjected to freezing
temperatures.
5. Locate the unit close to a floor drain or use a condensate
pump.

6. Condensate Drain Line
Due to the efficient design of many gas-fired appliances
they produce condensate (water) as a by-product of
normal operation. This condensate is acidic, with a pH level
between 3 and 4. Local building codes may require an in-line
neutralizer, such as the iB301 or iB3001, to be installed to
treat this water.
The maximum treatable condensate flow rate is 2.5 or 25
GPH depending on the unit.
1. Follow applicable local codes to treat the acidic
condensate. Follow all the installation instructions
included with the neutralizer.
2. Route the drain line to nearby floor drain, neutralizer, or
condensate pump.
a. If a floor drain is used to remove the discharge, route
the drain hose over or into the drain.
b. Long drain lines should contain a union to facilitate
servicing the unit or cleaning the drain line.
3. If a floor drain is not closely available, a condensate pump
can be used to pump the condensate to a remote drain.
a. Route the hose from the condensate pump to a
nearby floor drain or drain pipe.
b. The condensate pump must be supported by the
floor or other means; it cannot be supported by the
connecting pipes.
