Intelix HDMI-F
Installation Manual
Introduction
The active Intelix HDMI-F balun allows an HDMI (high-definition
multimedia interface) video signal to be transmitted up to 150 feet via
inexpensive twisted pair cabling, such as Cat 5e or Cat 6. The HDMI-F
supports standard HDTV resolutions and is HDCP compliant.
Two individual runs of twisted pair cable—one run of shielded and one run of
unshielded—are required when installing the HDMI-F balun. The video signal
should be transmitted on the shielded twisted pair. In environments
susceptible to high electromagnetic interference, two shielded twisted pair
cables should be used.
The Intelix HDMI-F includes a send balun, receive balun, 6 foot HDMI cable,
two power supplies, and mounting brackets.

Installation
To install the Intelix HDMI-F baluns, perform the following steps:
1. Identify the pin configuration of the baluns and RJ45 connectors on the
twisted pair cabling. To eliminate crosstalk, the pin configuration must
follow the EIA/TIA 568B standard. Please ensure that wiring is straightthrough.
2. Connect the HDMI-F send balun to the HDMI output of the video source.
Do not connect the 5V power supply.
3. Connect the HDMI-F receive balun to the HDMI input of the receiver at
the remote end.
4. Complete the connection between the send and receive baluns using either
one or two runs of twisted pair cable. Ensure that there are no split pairs or
taps.
5. Connect the 5V power supply to either the send or receive HDMI-F balun.
Depending on the circuitry of the input/output devices, the second power
supply may be required.
6. Power-on the video equipment.
7. Verify picture quality. If necessary, adjust the dip switches on the bottom
of the send and receiver baluns. The dip switches are used to boost and
equalize the picture quality based on the cable length and high-definition
equipment being used. The dip switches should be adjusted with the
source and destination devices powered on and transmitting through the
balun.

Adjustment Guidelines:
- Strong boost should not be used with stranded cables.
- Using the wrong settings will not damage the units; it will only degrade
picture quality.
- To eliminate crosstalk and outside interference, cables must be
terminated with the EIA 568B standard.
