Intelix DIGI-USB2-4P Installation Manual

DIGI-USB2-4P Installation Guide
The Intelix DIGI-USB2-4P extends computer USB 1.1 and USB 2.0 signals up to 100m (330 ft) over twisted pair cabling to four remote devices.
The DIGI-USB2-4P utilizes inexpensive twisted pair cabling and has a throughput of up to 480Mbps. The DIGI-USB2-4P is perfect for keyboard and mouse extension, remote data ports, up to 4 USB hubs, security applications and interactive white board applications.
Important notice:
Do not attempt to disassemble or alter the housing. There are no user-serviceable parts inside the unit. Doing so will void your warranty.
To minimize the possibility of equipment damage from electrostatic discharge (ESD), all source and destination equipment must be powered off during installation.
Do not connect the device to a telecommunication outlet wired to unrelated equipment. Doing so may damage the unit or any connected equipment. Ensure all connected twisted pair cabling is straight-through (point-to-point).
Allow proper ventilation to reduce the risk of thermal failure.

Instructions
1. Verify all components included with the extender set are present before installation.
2. Connect the included USB cable between the computer and the Host device.
3. Connect the remote device(s) to the client extender.
4. Connect Category 5e or greater twisted pair cable with RJ45 connectors between the Host and the Client extenders. TIA/EIA-568B straight-through wiring connections must be used.
5. Connect the included power supply to the Client extender.
6. Verify proper operation of the extended USB device.
Troubleshooting Tips
Symptom Possible Solutions
• USB is not functioning
• USB Port LED is off
• USB is not functioning
• USB Port LED is on
• USB is not functioning
• Overcurrent notification (orange LED on USB port)
• Verify that both ends of the twisted pair cables use T568B crimp pattern.
• Verify the power LEDs on both the send and receive units are brightly illuminated.
• Verify the power supply is connected to either the client extender.
• Verify USB cables at local and remote USB ports are operational.
• Verify USB device works directly attached to PC.
• Verify the USB device driver is installed and working.
• Verify that the maximum distance has not been exceeded.
• Power cycle the client extender. Allow time for the system to discharge; 30 seconds will be adequate.
