• Post operative packings

PRECAUTIONS:
In rare instances, the physiochemical conditions associated with nasal and
sinus surgery, both with and without nasal and sinus packings, may present a
risk of toxic shock syndrome (TSS). Warning signs of TSS include sudden fever
(usually 102° or more), vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, fainting (or near fainting
when standing up), and/or a rash that looks like a sunburn. Integra Miltex
nasal and sinus packings exhibit no antimicrobial properties, they are not
bacteriostatic towards pre-existing infections, nor do they prevent the
occurrence of new infections. In the case of pre-existing infections, it is
recommended that appropriate treatment be instituted.

• Always moisten before removal

• Do not leave packing in for more than four days

• This product must be disposed of per standard protocol for
biohazardous materials due to potential exposure to blood
borne pathogens

BEFORE INSERTION

• Trim dressing and/or airway tube if required

• Apply antibiotic ointment over the surface

TO INSERT

• Grasp packing with forceps or fingers

• Gently advance posteriorly along the nasal floor until the entire
packing is within the nose

AFTER INSERTION

• Have the patient tilt head back and irrigate end of packing with
5-10cc of saline or antibiotic solution contained in a syringe to fully
expand packing

• For epistaxis - saline solution may not be required

BEFORE REMOVAL

• All nasal and sinus dressings MUST be irrigated with either saline
or water (minimum 10cc) prior to removal

• With packings containing airways, first remove airway tube and
then irrigate into space previously occupied by the tube

TO REMOVE

• Use forceps to grasp the pack and gently remove

PRECAUCIÓN:

En raros casos, las condiciones fisioquímicas asociadas con la cirugía nasal y
de seno, tanto con paquetes como sin paquetes nasales y para senos, puede
presentar un riesgo de síndrome de shock tóxico (TSS, por sus siglas en inglés).
Síntomas de advertencia de TSS incluyen fiebre repentina (generalmente 39ºC
o más), vómitos, diarrea, mareos, desmayos (o casi desmayos en posición
erecta) o una erupción que parece una quemadura de sol. Los paquetes nasales
y para senos de Integra Miltex no tienen propiedades antimicrobianas, no son
bacteriostásticos para infecciones anteriormente existentes, ni previenen la
ocurrencia de nuevas infecciones. En caso de que hubiera una infección, se
recomienda que se trate adecuadamente.

• Humedezca siempre antes de la extracción

• No deje el paquete dentro durante más de cuatro días

• Este producto debe ser desechado siguiendo el protocolo estándar

para materiales biopeligrosos debido a la exposición potencial a sangre
contaminada con patógenos

ANTES DE LA INSERCIÓN

• Recorte el apósito o el tubo de la vía aérea si se requiere

• Aplique ungüento de antibiótico sobre la superficie

PARA INSERTAR

• Agarre el paquete con pinzas o con los dedos

• Hágalo avanzar suavemente posteriormente a lo largo del suelo nasal hasta
que todo el paquete se encuentre dentro de la nariz

DESPUÉS DE LA INSERCIÓN

• Haga que el paciente incline la cabeza hacia atrás e irrigue el extremo del
paquete con 5-10 cc de solución salina o antibiótica contenida en una jeringa
para expandir por completo el paquete

• Para la epistaxis es posible que no se requiera la solución salina

ANTES DE LA EXTRACCIÓN

• Todos los apósitos nasales y para senos DEBEN ser irrigados bien con
solución salina o con agua (mínimo 10 cc) antes de la extracción

• Con los paquetes que contengan vías aéreas, primero retire el tubo de la vía
aérea y después irrigue el espacio previamente ocupado por el tubo

PARA EXTRAER

• Use pinzas para agarrar el paquete y retirarlo suavemente

INDICATIONS

ATTENTION:

Dans de rares cas, les conditions physiochimiques associées à la chirurgie
nasale et sinusale, avec et sans pansement nasal ou sinusal, peuvent présenter
un risque de choc toxique staphylococcique (TSS). Les signes avant-coureurs
de TSS comprennent une fièvre soudaine (généralement 39°C ou plus),
des vomissements, une diarrhée, des vertiges, un évanouissement (ou un
presque évanouissement en se levant) et/ou une éruption cutanée ayant
l’aspect d’un coup de soleil. Les pansements nasaux et sinusaux Integra
Miltex ne présentent pas de propriétés antimicrobiennes, ils ne sont pas
bactériostatiques par rapport à des infections pré-existantes, et n’empêchent
pas l’occurrence de nouvelles infections. En cas d’infections pré-existantes, il
est recommandé d’appliquer un traitement approprié.

• Toujours humidifier avant retrait

• Ne pas laisser le pansement posé pendant plus de quatre jours

• Ce produit doit être jeté conformément au protocole en vigueur pour les
matières dangereuses pour la santé en raison du risque d’exposition aux
pathogènes présents dans le sang

AVANT INSERTION

• Couper le bandage et/ou le tube d'air si nécessaire

• Appliquer une pomade antibiotique sur la surface

POUR INSÉRER

• Saisir le pansement avec une pince ou les doigts

• Avancer doucement le long du plancher nasal jusqu'à ce que le pansement
soit complètement dans le nez

APRÈS INSERTION

• Le patient doit pencher la tête en arrière de manière à irriguer le bout
du pansement avec 5 à 10cc de solution saline ou antibiotique dans une
seringue pour faire pleinement gonfler le pansement

• Pour l'épistaxis - une solution saline peut être requise

AVANT LE RETRAIT

• Tous les pansements nasaux et sinusaux DOIVENT être irrigués avec une
solution saline ou de l'eau (minimum 10cc) avant le retrait

• Lorsque des tubes se trouvent dans les pansements, retirer tout d'abord le
tube puis irriguer dans l'espace où le tube se trouvait

POUR LE RETRAIT

• Utiliser une pince pour saisir le pansement et le retirer doucement

ACHTUNG!

In seltenen Fällen kann der physiochemische Zustand in Verbindung mit
Nasen- und Sinusoperation, sowohl mit als auch ohne Nasen- und Sinuswickel
ein Risiko für toxisches Schocksyndrom (TSS) darstellen. Warnhinweise für
TSS sind u.a. plötzliches Fieber (normalerweise 39°C oder höher), Erbrechen,
Diarrhö, Schwindel, Ohnmacht (oder beim Aufstehen beinahe einen
Ohnmachtsanfall) und/oder ein Ausschlag, der wie ein Sonnenbrand aussieht.
Nasen- und Sinuswickel von Integra Miltex weisen keine antimikrobiellen
Eigenschaen auf, sie sind gegenüber vorher bestehenden Infektionen nicht
bakteriostatisch. Im Falle von vorher bestehenden Infektionen empfiehlt es
sich, eine entsprechende Behandlung einzuleiten.

• Vor dem Herausnehmen immer befeuchten

• Den Tampon nicht länger als vier Tage drin lassen

• Dieses Produkt muss wegen der potenziellen Aussetzung zu in Blut geführten

Pathogenen gemäß dem Standardprotokoll für biologische Gefahrenstoffe
entsorgt werden

VOR DEM EINSETZEN

• Bei Bedarf Tampon und/oder Luröhre zurechtschneiden

• Antibiotische Salbe über der Fläche auragen

EINSETZEN

• Wickel mit Pinzee oder Fingern greifen

• Vorsichtig posterior entlang dem Nasenboden vorschieben, bis der ganze
Tampon in der Nase ist

NACH DEM EINSETZEN

• Den Patienten den Kopf nach hinten kippen lassen und das Tamponende mit
5-10cc Kochsalzlösung oder Antibiotikalösung in einer Spritze berieseln, um
den Wickel vollständig zu expandieren

• Für Epistaxis - Kochsalzlösung ist vielleicht nicht notwendig

VOR DEM HERAUSNEHMEN

• Alle Nasen- und Sinustampons MÜSSEN vor dem Herausnehmen entweder
mit Kochsalzlösung oder Wasser (mindestens 10cc) berieselt werden

• Bei Tampons, die eine Luröhre enthalten, zuerst die Luröhre abnehmen
und dann den zuvor von der Luröhre eingenommenen Raum berieseln

• Eine Pinzee zum Greifen des Tampons verwenden und vorsichtig entfernen

ATTENZIONE:

In rari casi, le condizioni fisico-chimiche associate con la chirurgia nasale
e sinusale, sia con sia senza tamponamento nasale e sinusale, possono
presentare un rischio di sindrome da shock tossico (TSS). Segnali di rischio
di TSS includono febbre improvvisa (in genere 39°C o oltre), vomito, diarrea,
vertigini, svenimento (o quasi-svenimento nell’alzarsi) e/o un’eruzione cutanea
che somiglia ad un eritema solare. I tamponi nasali e sinusali Integra Miltex
non hanno proprietà antimicrobiche, non sono baeriostatici nei confronti di
infezioni pre-esistenti, e non prevengono l’insorgenza di nuove infezioni. Nel
caso di infezioni pre-esistenti, si raccomanda di provvedere a curare con un
traamento adeguato.

• Inumidire sempre prima della rimozione

• Non lasciare il tampone in sito per oltre quaro giorni

• A causa del rischio di esposizione a patogeni trasmissibili per via ematica,

questo prodoo deve essere smaltito secondo il protocollo standard per i
materiali a rischio biologico

PRIMA DELL'INSERIMENTO

• Tagliare la medicazione e/o il tubo per vie aeree, se necessario

• Applicare un unguento antibiotico sulla superficie

PER INSERIRE

• Afferrare il tampone con le pinze o con le dita

• Fare avanzare con cura posteriormente lungo il pavimento nasale finché
l'intero tampone non si trova all'interno del naso

DOPO L'INSERIMENTO

• Chiedere al paziente di inclinare il capo all’indietro e irrigare l'estremità del

• Nel caso di tamponi contenenti vie aeree, rimuovere innanzituo il tubo,
quindi irrigare lo spazio occupato in precedenza dal tubo

NEUS OF SINUSVERBANDEN

INDICATIES

LET OP:

In zeldzame gevallen kunnen de fysiochemische condities die geassocieerd
worden met neus- en sinuschirurgie, zowel met als zonder neus- en
sinusafdichtingen, een risico opleveren op toxic shocksyndroom (TSS).
Waarschuwingstekenen van TSS omvaen plotselinge koorts (vaak 39°C of
hoger), overgeven, diarree, duizeligheid, flauwvallen (of bijna flauwvallen bij
opstaan), en/of uitslag die eruit ziet als verbranding door de zon. Integra Miltex
neus- en sinusafdichtingen vertonen geen antimicrobiële eigenschappen,
ze zijn niet bacteriostatisch voor eerder bestaande infecties en zijn geen
preventie tegen het voorkomen van nieuwe infecties. In geval van eerder
bestaande infecties wordt aanbevolen een geschikte behandeling in te stellen.

• Voor verwijdering altijd bevochtigen

• Afdichting niet langer dan vier dagen laten zien

• Dit product dient afgevoerd te worden volgens het standaard protocol voor

biogevaarlijke materialen door de mogelijke blootstelling aan in het bloed
vervoerde pathogenen

VOOR INBRENGING

• Werk, indien vereist, verband en/of luchtwegslang bij

• Pas antibiotische zalf toe op het oppervlak

VOOR INBRENGEN

• Grijp afdichting vast met tang of vingers

• Voorzichtig posterieur voortbewegen langs de bodem van de neus tot de
volledige afdichting zich binnen de neus bevindt

NA INBRENGING

• Laat de patiënt het hoofd achterover buigen en irrigeer het uiteinde van
de afdichting met 5 - 10 cc zoutoplossing of antibiotische oplossing in een
injectiespuit om de afdichting volledig uit te laten zeen

• Voor neusbloeding - het kan zijn dat er geen zoutoplossing nodig is

VOOR VERWIJDERING

• Alle neus- en sinusverbanden MOETEN voor verwijdering geïrrigeerd worden
met ofwel zoutoplossing of water (minimaal 10 cc)

• Bij afdichtingen die mechanische luchtwegen bevaen, dient de
luchtwegslang eerst verwijderd te worden, waarna in de ruimte waarin de
slang zich bevond, geïrrigeerd wordt

VOOR VERWIJDERING

• Gebruik een tang om de afdichting vast te houden en deze voorzichtig te
verwijderen
