The information and procedures described in this manual are intended to assist medical professionals in the safe and effective use, care, cleaning, and long-term maintenance of INSURGICAL rechargeable batteries.
The INSURGICAL battery Cat. # 3002022 is intended for use with the INSURGICAL hand pieces only. The batteries must be charged with the INSURGICAL MAXLiFe™ Battery Charger, Cat. # 3004022 ONLY.
INSURGICAL hand-held devices are provided STERILE. Contents of tray are sterile unless opened or damaged. If tray or lid is opened, damaged, or if USE BY Date is exceeded, DO NOT USE. SINGLE-USE. DO NOT RESTERILIZE.
1) INSURGICAL batteries are for use by properly trained personnel who are completely familiar with the required surgical techniques and instructions for use of the equipment.
3) To assure the safety of the patient and operating room personnel, use only INSURGICAL rechargeable batteries with INSURGICAL hand-held devices.
4) Do not expose battery to fire or incineration.
5) Do not allow battery contacts to contact metal objects. Contact with metal objects may result in electrical shock, burn, or injury to user.
6) Do not disassemble or modify battery.
7) Do not incinerate or heat the battery.
8) Do not use damaged battery.
9) Avoid contact with leaking battery. In the event of eye contact with electrolyte, wash with copious amounts of fresh water and seek medical attention immediately.
10) Do not sterilize battery.
With a cloth, wipe down the battery with a neutral enzymatic or neutral detergent solution before and after each use. CAUTION: Do not use solvents to disinfect the batteries. Battery poles must not contact water or solvents: Danger of short circuiting, causing burn or injury to user!

Batteries can be stored separately in a dry cool place or left in charger that is powered on.

1) Batteries contain Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePo4), which can be recycled or disposed of as municipal waste. Battery should be fully discharged prior to recycling or disposal. Dispose or recycle in accordance with your local government regulations.
2) Always use fully charged batteries to ensure maximum run time.
3) Battery charge cycle is 2.5 hours from full discharge to full charge. Typical charge time will vary depending on amount of charge present when placed on charger.

1) Finger Hold – recessed area aids in the removal of the battery after use.
2) Battery Charge Indicator – on board charge indicator that shows battery charge level via 3 indicator lights.

3) Safety Key – a mechanical safety feature that ensures battery cannot be placed into tool or charger incorrectly.
4) Battery Contacts – Conducts charge from battery charger to battery and distributes charge to hand held devices.
1) Circulating person: Remove the hand piece from its outer package, and transfer to the sterile field using aseptic technique.
2) Scrubbed person: Ensure the mode switch is in the LOCK position.
3) Scrubbed person: Ensure battery insertion shield is affixed securely to the hand piece. The battery insertion shield helps guide the battery into the battery compartment and prevents contamination

4) Circulating person: Determine battery charge level by pressing the TEST button on the battery.

5) Circulating person: Insert the battery through the battery insertion shield into the battery compartment, pressing down until the battery is fully seated. Remove the battery insertion shield.

6) Scrubbed person: Affix the battery compartment cover by guiding the tabs into the slots on each side of the battery compartment. Press firmly until the battery compartment cover is fully seated.
7) To remove the battery, pull while pressing the tabs on the battery compartment cover. IMPORTANT: Do not attempt to remove and replace battery while in the sterile field. Battery is not sterile.
8) To clean battery, wipe down with a cloth with a neutral enzymatic or neutral detergent solution before and after each use. IMPORTANT: do not use solvents to disinfect the batteries. Battery poles must not contact water or solvents: Danger of short circuiting!

INSURGICAL warrants its batteries to be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of ninety (90) days from the invoice date. The warranty is limited to the replacement of the product without charge. This warranty is void in the event of any of the following: abuse, misuse, or use in other than normal surgery environment, disassembly, alteration or unauthorized repair, or in the event that the product has not been used in reasonable manner and in compliance with the written instructions provided by INSURGICAL.
