Follow warnings and instructions
Follow all warnings on your CD boombox and in the operating

To prevent electric shock, match the wide blade on the power cord
plug to the wide slot on an electric outlet. If the plug does not fit,
consult a licensed electrician to replace the obsolete outlet. Do not
modify the power cord plug, or you will defeat this safety feature.

Ventilation
Slots and openings in the cabinet and the back or bottom are
provided for ventilation, reliable operation, and protection from
overheating. These openings must not be blocked or covered. Do not
block the openings by placing your CD boombox on a bed, sofa, rug,
or other similar surface.
Water and moisture
Do not use your CD boombox near water. For example, do not use it
near a bath tub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub, in a wet
basement, or near a swimming pool.
Do not let water slash or drip onto your CD boombox. Do not place
objects containing liquids, such as a vase, on top of your CD
boombox.

Setting up your CD boombox
Connecting to AC power
Always use AC power whenever possible to conserve the battery
charge. When your CD boombox is connect to AC power, it does not
use the batteries.
To connect AC power:
1 Make sure that the type of power in your area matching the type of
power listed on the label on the back of your CD boombox. If the
power type does not match, contact your retailer or Insignia.
2 Unwind the AC power cord.
3 Plug the small end of the AC power cord into the AC power
connector on the back of your CD boombox.
4 Plug the other end of the AC power cord into a power outlet.

Note
Unplug the AC power cord if you will not be using your CD
boombox for an extend period of time.
Unplug the AC power cord when you are installing batteries or
when you want to operate your boombox on battery power.
Installing the batteries
You can use batteries to provide power for your CD boombox. If your
CD boombox is connected to AC power, it does not use the batteries.
To install the batteries:
1 Open the battery compartment.
2 Insert eight R-14, UM-2, or C-cell batteries (preferable alkaline
batteries) into the battery compartment. Make sure that you align
the + and – symbols with the + and – symbols inside the battery
compartment.
3 Close the battery compartment.
Caution
Do not throw the batteries into fire. Dispose of used batteries as
hazardous waste.
Do not try to recharge batteries that are not rechargable. The
batteries may overheat and rupture.

Notes
Do not mix different types of batteries (for example, alkaline and
carbon-zinc).
Do not mix old and new batteries.
If you do not plan to use your CD boombox for a long period of time,
remove the batteries to prevent damage or injury from leakage.
Using your CD boombox
Turning on your CD boombox
To turn on your CD boombox:
1 Make sure that the AC power cord is connected to a power outlet
or batteries are installed.
2 Lift the CD door at the edge marked OPEN/CLOSE.
3 Remove the paper card protector.
4 Slide the FUNCTION switch to CD or RADIO.
Playing the radio
To play the radio:
1 Slide the FUNCTION switch to RADIO.
2 Slide the BAND switch to select the radio band. You can select:
•AM
•FM
•FM Stereo
If you select FM Stereo and tune to a stereo FM station, the FM
Stereo indicator lights.
3 Rotate the TUNING control to select a station.
4 Rotate the VOLUME control to adjust the volume.
Improving reception
If you are listening to an FM station and the reception is poor, make
sure that the FM antenna is fully extended and rotate the antenna
until reception improves. If your are close the radio transmitter, you
may need to adjust the length of the antenna.
If you are listening to an AM station and reception is not clear, rotate
your CD boombox slightly until reception improves.
Playing a CD
You can play audio CDs, CD-Rs and CD-RWs.
Caution
Do not try to play DVDs or CD-ROM, CDi, VCD, or data CDs. You
may damage your CD boombox.

To play a CD:
1 Slide the FUNCTION switch to CD.
2 Lift the CD door at the edge marked OPEN/CLOSE.
3 Remove the paper card protector.
4 Place a CD, CD-R, or CD-RW into the CD compartment with the
label side up, then gently close the door.
5 If the CD does not start to play automatically, press the
PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback.

Searching for a track or file
To search for a track or file:
•During CD playback
•Press the button once to go to the next track or file on
the CD.
•Press the button one or more times until the track or file
number you want appears in the display.
•Press and hold the button to fast-forward to a section on
the CD.
•Press the button once to go to the beginning of the
current track.
•Press the button two or more times to go to a previous
track or file on the CD.
•Press and hold the button to fast-reverse to a section on
the CD.
Randomly playing tracks or files

To play tracks or files randomly:
1 If the CD is playing, press the button to stop playback.
2 Press the RANDOM button once.
3 Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start random playback. Your

CD boombox plays the tracks or files in random order.
4 To cancel random playback, press the button twice.
Repeating a track, file, or entire CD
To repeat a track, file, or entire CD:
1 During playback, press the REPEAT button one or more times to
select the repeat mode. You can select:
•REPEAT–Repeats the current track. In this mode, the repeat
indicator (the LED near the REPEAT button) flashes.
•REPEAT ALL–Repeats the entire CD. In this mode, the repeat
indicator turns on, but does not flash.
2 To cancel repeat playback, press the button twice.

Creating a CD playlist
You can create a CD playlist that lets you play the tracks or files on a
CD in any order. You can add as many as 20 tracks or files to your
playlist.
To create a playlist:
1 If the CD is playing, press the button to stop playback.
2 Press the PROGRAM button, then press the or button one
or more times to select a track or file.
3 Press the PROGMODE button once to store the track or files
number. The PROG indicator flashes and the track or file number
you selected appears briefly on the display.
4 Repeat Steps 2 and 3 to add more tracks or files to your playlist.
5 After you finished playing tracks or files, press the
PLAY/PAUSE button to play your playlist.
To review your playlist:
1 If the CD is playing, press the button to stop playback.
2 Press the PROG MODE button. Your CD boombox displays the
track or file number in your playlist in sequence.

To delete your playlist:
•Open the CD door.
•Switch the radio mode.
•Press the button twice.

Maintenance
Cleaning the cabinet
Wipe the front panel and other exterior surfaces of your CD boombox
with a soft cloth lightly dampened with lukewarm water.
Never use a solvent or alcohol to clean your CD boombox. Do not
spray insecticide near your CD boombox. Such chemicals may cause
damage and discoloration to the exposed surfaces.
Handling discs
A dirty, scratched, or warped disc may cause skipping or noise.
To care for discs:
•Hold discs by their edges.
•Store discs in their cases when you are not using them.

•Do not expose discs to direct sunlight, high humidity, high
temperature, or dust. Prolonged exposure to extreme
temperatures can warp discs.
•Do not stick labels or tape on discs.
To clean a disc:
•With a soft cloth, wipe the disc from the center to the outer
edge.

Do not use detergent or abrasive cleaning agents. They will
damage the disc surface.

Limited warranty
Insignia Products warrants to you, the original purchaser of this
Product, that this product shall be free of defects in material or
workmanship for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of
purchase as follows:
1 LABOR: During the Warranty Period if this Product is determined
to be defective, Insignia will repair or replace the Product, at its
option at no charge, or pay the labor charges to any Insignia
authorized service facility. After the Warranty Period, you must pay
for all labor charges.
2 PARTS: In addition, Insignia will supply, at no charge, new or
rebuilt replacement parts in exchange for defective parts for the
Warranty Period. After the Warranty Period, you must pay all parts
costs.
To obtain warranty service, you must take the Product with your
original receipt or other proof of purchase, either in its original
packaging or packaging affording an equal degree of protection, to
your nearest retail store location of the store or online web site from
which you purchased the Product.

This warranty does not cover cosmetic damage or damage due to
acts of God, lightning strikes, accident, misuse, abuse, negligence,
commercial use, or modification of, or to any part of the Product,
including the antenna. This warranty does not cover damage due to
improper operation or maintenance, connection to improper voltage
supply, or attempted repair by anyone other than a facility authorized
by Insignia to service the Product. This warranty does not cover
Products sold AS IS or WITH ALL FAULTS, or consumables (such as
fuses or batteries). This warranty is valid only in the United States
and Canada.
This warranty is invalid if the factory applied serial number has been
altered or removed from the Product.
REPAIR REPLACEMENT AS PROVIDED UNDER THIS WARRANTY
IS THE EXCLUSIVE REMEDY OF THE CONSUMER. INSIGNIA
SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INCIDENTAL OR
CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES FOR BREACH OF ANY EXPRESS
OR IMPLIED WARRANTY ON THIS PRODUCT. EXCEPT TO THE
EXTENT PROHIBITED BY APPLICABLE LAW, ANY IMPLIED
WARRANTY, REPRESENTATION OR CONDITION OF
MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
ON THIS PRODUCT IS LIMITED IN DURATION TO THE DURATION
OF THIS WARRANTY.
